Resonantly excited metal K core line spectra of NiO, MnO, CuO and other compounds have been investigated at the beamlines
X21 (NSLS/BNL), BW1 and W1.1 (HASYLAB/DESY). A novel technique for quantitative resolution of NEXAFS spectra into spin-up
and spin-down components has been developed. Since the method employs spin conservation and local spin references, it needs
no circularly polarized radiation and no sample magnetization for taking both the RXS and NEXAFS spectra. Hence antiferromagnetic
and paramagnetic materials can be investigated as well.By utilizing linear dichroism with angular-dependent measurements on
single-crystal samples, additional resolution of NEXAFS spectra is possible with respect to the orbital symmetry. Application
of the method to paramagnetic MnO, for the first time, provides new and unambiguous experimental results confirming modern
(LSDA+U) calculations.

Decay studies of very neutron-deficient nuclei ranging from 39Ti to 49Ni have been performed during a projectile fragmentation experiment at the GANIL/LISE3 separator. For all nuclei studied in
this work, 39, 40Ti, 42, 43Cr, 46Mn, 45, 46, 47Fe and 49Ni, half-lives and decay spectra have been measured. In a few cases, γ coincidence measurements helped to successfully identify
the initial and final states of transitions. In these cases, partial decay scheme are proposed. For the most exotic isotopes,
39Ti, 42Cr, 45Fe and 49Ni, which are candidates for two-proton radioactivity from the ground state, no clear evidence of this process is seen in
our spectra and we conclude rather on a delayed particle decay.

A neutron diffraction study, as a function of temperature, of the title compounds is presented. The whole family (space group

≈ 11.3?) is structurally characterised by the presence of flattened NiO6 octahedra that form chains along the a-axis, giving rise to a strong Ni-O-Ni antiferromagnetic interaction. Whereas for Y-compound only strong 1D correlations exist
above 1.5 K, presenting the Haldane gap characteristic of 1D AF chain with integer spin, 3D AF ordering is established simultaneously
for both R and Ni sublattices at temperatures depending on the rare earth size and magnetic moment. The magnetic structures
of R2BaNiO5 ( R
=
Nd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er and Tm) have been determined and refined as a function of temperature. The whole family orders with a magnetic
structure characterised by the temperature-independent propagation vector
= (1/2, 0, 1/2). At 1.5 K the directions of the magnetic moments differ because of the different anisotropy of the rare earth ions. Except
for Tm and Yb (which does not order above 1.5 K), the magnetic moment of the R3+ cations are close to the free-ion value. The magnetic moment of Ni2+ is around 1.4
, the strong reduction with respect to the free-ion value is probably due to a combination of low-dimensional quantum effects
and covalency. The thermal evolution of the magnetic structures from T
N
down to 1.5 K is studied in detail. A smooth re-orientation, governed by the magnetic anisotropy of R3+, seems to occur below and very close to T
N
in some of these compounds: the Ni moment rotates from nearly parallel to the a-axis toward the c-axis following the R moments. We demonstrate that for setting up the 3D magnetic ordering the R-R exchange interactions cannot
be neglected.

The annealing effects of sapphire substrate on the quality of epitaxial ZnO films grown by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) were studied. The atomic steps formed on (0 0 0 1) sapphire (α-Al2O3) substrate surface by annealing at high temperature was analyzed by atomic force microscopy (AFM). The annealing effects of sapphire substrate on the ZnO films were examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), AFM and photoluminescence (PL) measurements. Experimental results indicate that the film quality is strongly affected by annealing treatment of the sapphire substrate surface. The beta decay of 31Cl has been studied with a silicon detector array and a HPGe detector at the IGISOL facility. Previously controversial proton
peaks have been confirmed to belong to 31Cl and a new proton group with an energy of 762(14) keV has been found. Proton captures to this state at 6921(15) keV in 31S can have an effect on the reaction rate of 30P(p,γ) in ONe novae. Gamma rays of 1249.1(14) keV and 2234.5(8) keV corresponding to the de-excitations of the first two excited
states in 31S have been measured. No beta-delayed protons from the IAS have been observed. 相似文献
