Charge dynamics and optical properties of layered cobaltates

We study the charge dynamics and electronic structure by optical spectroscopy technique. Here we focus on the following four issues: (1) the evolution of optical spectra with Na content; (2) the spectral features specific to different regions in the phase diagram; (3) the c-axis optical response for crystal at the A-type antiferromagnetic region; (4) the optical response of misfit-layered Bi₂M₂Co₂O_y (M=Ba, Sr, Ca) and Ca₃Co₄O_y single crystals.     

Determination of isospin asymmetry effects on α-decay

In this study,we compared the effect of the isospin asymmetry of proton and neutron density distributions in the neutron skin-type(NST) case and in the Hartree-Fock formalism(HF) on the half-life of alpha emitters with the atomic number in the range of 82≤Z≤92.The NST case and HF formalism based on the Skyrme-SLy4 effective interaction reveal different isospin asymmetries for selected alpha emitters.Furthermore,the obtained results reveal an increase in the α-decay widths of about 30% for the NST case in comparison with the equivalent values obtained by HF formalism.The standard deviations for calculated half-lives within the NST case and HF formalism are about 0.438 and 0.391,respectively.     

BSDE approach to utility maximization with square-root factor processes

We consider the utility-based portfolio selection problem in a continuous-time setting. We assume the market price of risk depends on a stochastic factor that satisfies an affine-form, square-root, Markovian model. This financial market framework includes the classical geometric Brownian motion, CEV model, and Heston’s model as special cases. Adopting the BSDE approach, we obtain closed-form solutions for the optimal portfolio strategies and value functions for the logarithmic, power, and exponential utility functions.     

Foundational ways of thinking for understanding the idea of logarithm

This study explored two undergraduate precalculus students’ understandings of the idea of logarithm as they completed conceptually oriented exploratory lessons on exponential and logarithmic functions. The students participated in consecutive, individual teaching experiments that focused on Sparky – an animated mystical saguaro that doubled in height every week. The exponential lesson focused on developing students’ conceptions of growth factors and tupling (e.g., doubling) periods as a foundational understanding for conceptualizing logarithms and logarithmic properties meaningfully. This paper characterizes conceptions that are productive for students to acquire in introductory lessons on exponential and logarithmic growth, and discusses two understandings that were revealed to be foundational for students’ development of productive meanings for exponents, logarithms and logarithmic properties.

激光拉曼分光计中超低杂散光的测试

本文提出了一种测试激光拉曼分光计中超低杂散光的新方法.实验结果表明,本方法的杂散光测量限可达10~(-14)量级.     

Objective acoustic voice-quality parameters in the computer phonetogram

A phonetogram is a plot of the dynamic range of the voice as a function of fundamental frequency. Traditionally, the phonetogram only records the sound-pressure level (SPL) of the threshold of phonation and the upper limit in SPL the voice can reach with sustained phonation as a function of the fundamental frequency (F₀). In this study, the phonetogram is extended by including acoustic voice-quality parameters. Three additional parameters are tested: jitter, shimmer, and crest factor. For each individual voice, the variation in the three parameters is evaluated over the entire phonetogram area. By averaging individual phonetograms, standard or norm phonetograms are obtained revealing general patterns in voice-quality variation. These patterns reflect the complex relations between F₀, SPL, and the acoustic voice-quality parameters just mentioned. Jitter and shimmer distributions over the phonetogram show that large variations in perturbation values can be expected when production conditions are altered. Highest perturbation values are found for the low F₀ and low SPL phonations. For all voices, a gradual decrease of the crest factor is found with increasing F₀, reflecting the degrading of spectral complexity with F₀. The crest-factor parameter can also be used to mark those areas in the phonetogram where the fundamental dominates the waveform and where flow control is the main SPL regulating mechanism in voice production. The strong quality variations within the phonetogram stress the need for accurate control of F₀ and SPL in objective voice-quality measurement.     

Thermal annealing behaviour of Al/Ni/Au multilayer on n-GaN Schottky contacts

Recently GaN-based high electron mobility transistors (HEMTs) have revealed the superior properties of a high breakdown field and high electron saturation velocity. Reduction of the gate leakage current is one of the key issues to be solved for their further improvement. This paper reports that an Al layer as thin as 3 nm was inserted between the conventional Ni/Au Schottky contact and n-GaN epilayers, and the Schottky behaviour of Al/Ni/Au contact was investigated under various annealing conditions by current--voltage (I--V) measurements. A non-linear fitting method was used to extract the contact parameters from the I--V characteristic curves. Experimental results indicate that reduction of the gate leakage current by as much as four orders of magnitude was successfully recorded by thermal annealing. And high quality Schottky contact with a barrier height of 0.875 eV and the lowest reverse-bias leakage current, respectively, can be obtained under 12 min annealing at 450°C in N₂ ambience.     

抽运光与信号光的光强重叠因子和掺铒玻璃波导放大器的增益特性

在掺铒玻璃波导放大器（EDWA）的三能级速率-传输方程中,考虑两次离子交换工艺中波导掩模窗口宽度w不同所导致的抽运光、信号光模场与光强分布的不同,讨论不同w对EDWA增益特性的影响,得到光强分布的数值解.引入描述波导中抽运光和信号光的归一化光强重叠因子,对EDWA的传统近似解提出修正,得到了修正解,使其更加接近光强分布的数值解.模拟结果表明,在条波导长度为4 cm、抽运光波长为980 nm、功率为80 mW、信号光波长为1534 nm、功率为-10 dBm条件下,不同w所导致EDWA的增益差别可达297 dB.修正解的结果比传统近似解更加接近光强分布的数值解.修正解对于EDWA的理论研究、器件设计具有指导作用. 关键词： 集成光学 掺铒玻璃波导放大器 重叠积分因子 增益     

Elliptic enumeration of nonintersecting lattice paths

We enumerate lattice paths in the planar integer lattice consisting of positively directed unit vertical and horizontal steps with respect to a specific elliptic weight function. The elliptic generating function of paths from a given starting point to a given end point evaluates to an elliptic generalization of the binomial coefficient. Convolution gives an identity equivalent to Frenkel and Turaev's summation. This appears to be the first combinatorial proof of the latter, and at the same time of some important degenerate cases including Jackson's and Dougall's summation. By considering nonintersecting lattice paths we are led to a multivariate extension of the summation which turns out to be a special case of an identity originally conjectured by Warnaar, later proved by Rosengren. We conclude with discussing some future perspectives.
