DPL的调Q倍频是获得高重复率绿光输出的有效方法,本文研究了这种激光器的动态特性,提出存在使转换效率最高的最佳非线性耦合系数,它是调Q时反转粒子数超阈值倍数的函数.实验用国产200mWR的MQW—LDA泵浦Nd:YAG激光器,声光调Q,KTP腔内倍频,输出0.4μJ的倍频光,脉宽70ns,峰功率6W.     

What happens during vocal warm-up?

Most singers prefer to warm up their voices before performing. Although the subjective effect is often considerable, the underlying physiological effects are largely unknown. Because warm-up tends to increase blood flow in muscles, it seems likely that vocal warm-up might induce decreased viscosity in the vocal folds. According to the theory of vocal-fold vibration, such a decrease should lead to a lower phonation threshold pressure. In this investigation the effect of vocal warm-up on the phonation threshold pressure was examined in a group of male and female singers. The effect varied considerably between subjects, presumably because the vocal-fold viscosity was not a dominating factor for the phonation-threshold pressure.

讨论了逻辑函数的谱系数分类,给出了特征阈值逻辑函数的定义.在此基础上提出了三变量通用阈值逻辑门的设计方法,分别得到了单输出和带反相双输出的三变量通用阈值逻辑门,并给出了用三变量通用阈值逻辑门实现三变量阈值逻辑函数的实例.     

声学随机共振实验

在特定的非线性系统中,噪声的存在能够增强信号的响应, 这种现象为随机共振. 本文实验通过观察噪声对听觉阈限的影响,使学生了解声学中的随机共振现象.     

Simulation of certain multivariate generalized Pareto distributions

The investigation of multivariate generalized Pareto distributions (GPDs) has begun only recently. For further progress with these distributions simulation methods are an important part. We describe several methods of simulating GPDs, beginning with an efficient method for the logistic GPD. The algorithm is based on the Shi transformation, which was already used for the simulation of multivariate extreme value distributions (EVDs) of logistic type. In the sequel another algorithm is presented simulating a broader class of GPDs. Due to its numerical complexity it is only practicably applicable in low dimensions. A method is given to generate unconditional GPD random vectors from conditionally GPD distributed random vectors. A short application of the simulation methods in the analysis of a real hydrological data set concludes the article. The simulation algorithms are available on the author’s home page .      

Dynamic routing in open queueing networks: Brownian models,cut constraints and resource pooling

We present an introductory review of recent work on the control of open queueing networks. We assume that customers of different types arrive at a network and pass through the system via one of several possible routes; the set of routes available to a customer depends on its type. A route through the network is an ordered set of service stations: a customer queues for service at each station on its route and then leaves the system. The two methods of control we consider are the routing of customers through the network, and the sequencing of service at the stations, and our aim is to minimize the number of customers in the system. We concentrate especially on the insights which can be obtained from heavy traffic analysis, and in particular from Harrison's Brownian network models. Our main conclusion is that in many respects dynamic routingsimplifies the behaviour of networks, and that under good control policies it may well be possible to model the aggregate behaviour of a network quite straightforwardly.Supported by SERC grant GR/F 94194.
