The effect of wavelength and relative velocity on the disturbed interface of two‐phase stratified regime is modeled and discussed. To analyze the stability, a small perturbation is imposed on the interface. Growth or decline of the disturbed wave, relative velocity, and surface tension with respect to time will be discussed numerically. Newly developed scheme applied to a two‐dimensional flow field and the governing Navier–Stokes equations in laminar regime are solved. Finite volume method together with non‐staggered curvilinear grid is a very effective approach to capture interface shape with time. Because of the interface shape, for any time advancement, a new grid is performed separately on each stratified field, liquid, and gas regime. The results are compared with the analytical characteristics method and one‐dimensional modeling. This comparison shows that solving the momentum equation including viscosity term leads to physically more realistic results. In addition, the newly developed method is capable of predicting two‐phase stratified flow behavior more precisely than one‐dimensional modeling. Recently, it has become apparent that the thermal stability of topologically ordered systems at finite temperature, as discussed in condensed matter physics, can be studied by addressing the feasibility of self-correcting quantum memory, as discussed in quantum information science. Here, with this correspondence in mind, we propose a model of quantum codes that may cover a large class of physically realizable quantum memory. The model is supported by a certain class of gapped spin Hamiltonians, called stabilizer Hamiltonians, with translation symmetries and a small number of ground states that does not grow with the system size. We show that the model does not work as self-correcting quantum memory due to a certain topological constraint on geometric shapes of its logical operators. This quantum coding theoretical result implies that systems covered or approximated by the model cannot have thermally stable topological order, meaning that systems cannot be stable against both thermal fluctuations and local perturbations simultaneously in two and three spatial dimensions. 相似文献

A water-soluble sulfonate poly(ethylene terephthalate) copolymer has been synthesized and identified as a high-temperature
endurable surfactant. The glass-transition temperature and the storage modulus increase in correlation to the increase in
sulfonate content. Various characterization studies were performed, including light scattering, zeta-potential measurement
and a sedimentation test. The results suggest that at equal numbers of sulfonate units in a solution, a low concentration
of a dispersant of high sulfonate content is more effective than a high concentration of a dispersant of low sulfonate content.

This paper is devoted to a theoretical analysis of nonlinear two-dimensional waves using the Navier-Stokes equations in their
full statement. Steady-state travelling wave regimes have been found and an analysis of their linear stability has been carried
out. It is shown that the flow regimes obtained using the Navier-Stokes equations are qualitatively different from the solutions
of Shkadov’s integral approach starting from some values of the Kapitza number. It is also found that the wave regimes of
the Navier-Stokes equations have an internal vortex at moderate Reynolds numbers. The results obtained using “the regularized
integral model” are in excellent agreement with the Navier-Stokes calculations for Re/Ka ≤2. Unlike the solutions found using an integral approach, it is shown that only a few types of nonlinear waves exist when
the full Navier-Stokes equations are considered.

Density functional investigations for geometric and electronic properties of In4M and In12M (M = C,Si, In) clusters

First-principle calculations are performed to study geometric and electronic properties of both neutral and anionic In4M and In12M (M = C, Si, In) clusters. In4C and In4Si are found to be tetrahedral molecules. The icosahedral structure is found to be unfavourable for In12M. The most stable structure for In12C is a distorted buckled biplanar structure while for In12Si it is of an In-cage with the Si located in the centre. Charge effect on the structure of In12M is discussed. In4C has a significantly large binding energy and an energy gap between the highest-occupied molecularorbital level and the lowest unoccupied molecular-orbital level, a low electron affinity, and a high ionization potential, which are the characters of a magic cluster, enriching the family of doped-group-IIIA metal clusters for cluster-assembled materials. 相似文献

The(2 1)-dimensional nonlinear Schr(o)dinger(NLS)equation with spatially inhomogeneous nonlinearities is investigated,which describes propagation of light in(2 1)-dimensional nonlinear optical media with inhomogeneous nonlinearities.New types of optical modes and nonlinear effects in optical media are presented numerically.The results reveal that the regular split of beam can be obtained in (2 1)-dimensional nonlinear optical media with inhomogeneous nonlinearities,by adjusting the guiding parameter.Furthermore,the stability of beam regular split is discussed numerically,and the results reveal that the beam regular split is stable to the finite initial perturbations. 相似文献
