The maximum number of non-vanishing and independent second order photoelastic coefficients required by the seven pentagonal and the two icosahedral point groups 5(C5), (S10), (C5h ), m2(D5h ), 52(D5), 5m(C5v ), 2m(D5d ); 235(I), 2/m (I h )—that describe the quasicrystals symmetry groups in two and three dimensions—is obtained. The schemes of non-vanishing and independent coefficients have been calculated and listed. Finally the results of this group-theoretical study are briefly discussed.  相似文献

The equations of free-space electrodynamics are derived directly from the Riemann curvature tensor and the Bianchi identity of general relativity by contracting on two indices to give a novel antisymmetric Ricci tensor. Within a factore/h, this is the field-strength tensor G of free-space electrodynamics. The Bianchi identity for G describes free-space electrodynamics in a manner analogous to, but more general than, Maxwell's equations for electrodynamics, the critical difference being the existence in general and special relativity of the Evans-Vigier fieldB (3).  相似文献

The Balancing Domain Decomposition algorithm uses in each iteration solution of local problems on the subdomains coupled with a coarse problem that is used to propagate the error globally and to guarantee that the possibly singular local problems are consistent. The abstract theory introduced recently by the first-named author is used to develop condition number bounds for conforming linear elements in two and three dimensions. The bounds are independent of arbitrary coefficient jumps between subdomains and of the number of subdomains, and grow only as the squared logarithm of the mesh size . Computational experiments for two- and three-dimensional problems confirm the theory.

A weakly continuous, equicontinuous representation of a semitopological semigroup on a locally convex topological vector space gives rise to a family of operator semigroup compactifications of , one for each invariant subspace of . We consider those invariant subspaces which are maximal with respect to the associated compactification possessing a given property of semigroup compactifications and show that under suitable hypotheses this maximality is preserved under the formation of projective limits, strict inductive limits and tensor products.

Broad-band ac dielectric relaxation spectroscopy (DRS) and various techniques of thermally stimulated currents (TSC) have been used to investigate molecular mobility in cereal and legume seeds, over wide ranges of water content and temperature. We focused our interest on the detailed study of the interactions between water and seed constituents. The results are quantitatively discussed, using various concepts dictated by the experimental techniques employed and in relation to the protein and carbohydrate contents of the seeds. Experimental investigations of superconductivity effects in single-phase and multiphase Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 single-crystals have been carried out at 142 GHz frequency by means of the standing wave profile method [1]. Josephson harmonic generation has been observed to be responsible for the appearence of additional peaks on the standing wave profile of the open dielectric resonator loaded with a properly orientated multiphase high-Tc superconductor specimen. This leads to the conclusion that most of the Josephson junctions in multiphase crystals are located in certain crystallographic planes. The investigations of temperature dependencies showed that sharp resonant peaks of conductivity observed earlier [2] at 60 GHz could also be observed at 142 GHz.  相似文献

Activity coefficients of hydrochloric acid have been determined from electromotive-force measurements of cells containing mixtures of hydrochloric acid and calcium chloride at constant total ionic strengthsI=0.1, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 mole-kg–1 at 298.15°K. Interpretations based on Scatchard's and Pitzer's equations indicate that Pitzer's equations probably provide a more convenient guide to the thermodynamic properties of the mixed-electrolyte solutions. Activity coefficients for calcium chloride were derived from these equations.  相似文献

Two flow injection analyses (FIA) methods for the determination of diffusion coefficients in a straight single tube FIA system were developed. Based on the analytical solution of the convection-diffusion equation, linear relationships of the logarithmic values of the dispersion coefficient (D) and the half-peak width (W1/2) with the diffusion coefficient (Dm) were obtained. Experiments were designed to verify these methods. For example, for potassium hexacyanoferrate (III) a Dm value of 0.72 × 105 cm2 s−1 was found versus a literature value of 0.76 × 105 cm2 s−1 (error, 5%). For potassium hexacyanoferrate (II) a Dm value of 0.67 × 105 cm2 s−1 was obtained versus a literature value of 0.63 × 105 cm2 s−1 (error, 6%). The diffusion coefficients of some important biomedical compounds, such as dopamine, epinephrine, norepinephrine and ascorbic acid, were then determined. The values of 105 Dm/cm2 s−1 are 0.60 ± 0.03, 0.44 ± 0.02, 0.60 ± 0.01 and 0.68 ± 0.06, respectively.  相似文献

As the application of a dielectric theory proposed previously (J Membrane Sci 64:153–161 (1991)), theoretical formulation and the practical procedure of dielectric analysis are developed to calculate the structural parameters such as the conductivity gradient and the thickness of the concentration polarization layer, the capacitances and the conductances of the two adjoining aqueous phases from the observed dielectric parameters. The procedure of calculation consequent upon the theoretical formulation was applied to double relaxation data observed for cation-exchange membrane systems under application of d.c. bias voltage. As a consequence, the structural parameters of concentration polarization were readily obtained with accuracy.  相似文献
