Abstract The system of hard rods in an external, uniform gravitational field is studied and exact expressions obtained for the partition functions, and the one- and two-particle distributions. In principle all higher order distributions can be exactly expressed as finite sums and the Laplace transforms of the one-particle density and pressure for a semi-infinite system are reducible to single integrals. Limiting cases of weak field and small rod diameters are examined. In the former case, these results agree with Percus and Lebowitz's local density expansion. In the latter case, corrections to the barometric pressure and density laws are obtained. Finally some mathematical difficulties involved in the calculation of the virial expansion and distribution of roots of the grand partition function are mentioned. 相似文献

Membrane technology is becoming more important for CO 2 separation from natural gas in the new era due to its process simplicity,relative ease of operation and control,compact,and easy to scale up as compared with conventional processes.Conventional processes such as absorption and adsorption for CO 2 separation from natural gas are generally more energy demanding and costly for both operation and maintenance.Polymeric membranes are the current commercial membranes used for CO 2 separation from natural gas.However,polymeric membranes possess drawbacks such as low permeability and selectivity,plasticization at high temperatures,as well as insufficient thermal and chemical stability.The shortcomings of commercial polymeric membranes have motivated researchers to opt for other alternatives,especially inorganic membranes due to their higher thermal stability,good chemical resistance to solvents,high mechanical strength and long lifetime.Surface modifications can be utilized in inorganic membranes to further enhance the selectivity,permeability or catalytic activities of the membrane.This paper is to provide a comprehensive review on gas separation,comparing membrane technology with other conventional methods of recovering CO 2 from natural gas,challenges of current commercial polymeric membranes and inorganic membranes for CO 2 removal and membrane surface modification for improved selectivity. 相似文献

A method is presented for generation of all surface‐bound radicals on solid polymer surfaces. Thus, secondary amide group of newly synthesized crosslinking comonomer, methacryloyloxyethyl methacrylamide was determined as versatile precursor for generation fixed diradicals on solid microspheres, obtained by copolymerization with methyl methacrylate (MMA) in aqueous suspension. Nitrosoation of the secondary amide groups on the microbeads and followed thermolysis above 90 °C was demonstrated to give surface‐bound radicals, capable of initiating polymerization of vinyl monomers, such as; styrene, MMA, N‐vinyl formamide, and N‐vinyl, 2‐pyrrolidone, as evidenced by H NMR, Fourier transform infrared, thermogravimetric analysis, and differential scanning calorimeter techniques. Appreciable grafting yields (55.1%–286.1%) and low free‐homopolymer formation (7.2%–19.7%) were noted within 6 h of the grafting at 100 °C in each case. This strategy involving the use of amide functional crosslinker seemed to be generally applicable to generate surface‐bound radicals for surface‐initiated polymerization from various solid substrates. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. When simulating free‐surface flows using the finite element method, there are many cases where the governing equations require information which must be derived from the available discretized geometry. Examples are curvature or normal vectors. The accurate computation of this information directly from the finite element mesh often requires a high degree of refinement—which is not necessarily required to obtain an accurate flow solution. As a remedy and an option to be able to use coarser meshes, the representation of the free surface using non‐uniform rational B‐splines (NURBS) curves or surfaces is investigated in this work. The advantages of a NURBS parameterization in comparison with the standard approach are discussed. In addition, it is explored how the pressure jump resulting from surface tension effects can be handled using doubled interface nodes. Numerical examples include the computation of surface tension in a two‐phase flow as well as the computation of normal vectors as a basis for mesh deformation methods. Under the influence of perpendicularly applied positive electro-static field less than 103V/cm to silk fibron textiles, at the high frequency side of the C2–O bending reflection band (450350 cm–1), effect of step creation and step annihilation of the C2–O pseudo dending bands was induced in three stages at 600450 cm–1 region IR spectroscopically relating to the stepnized statistical transfer of the unbonded 2P2, electrons in carbon which present with density of 4.0×1014/cm2 in the surface mono-layer of silk fibroin from the states formed in (–C1–C2–N–)m spiral chains upto the pseudo-bending states formed in C2–O bondings. Fine 90 steps measured overlapping on these four types of C2–O reflection bands were analysed as to consist four step series and they were shown as,y = A·Jm + B cm–1 with A=20, B=521, m=0.55 and J=1, 2...18 for the B-series.And with A=39, B=283, m=0.63 and J=1, 2 ...17 for the C-series.y
