Palladium nanoparticles stabilized by phosphine ligand for aqueous phase room temperature suzuki-Miyaura coupling

Water soluble phosphine ligand triphenylphosphine-3,3′,3″-trisulfonic acid trisodium salt (TPPTS) was used as the stabilizer as well as the activator to the palladium nanoparticles, which showed a high catalytic performance for aqueous phase Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction at room temperature.     

Synthesis of SMND-309, a derivate of salvianolic acid B

(E)-2-(6-((E)-2-carboxyvinyl)-2,3-dihydroxyphenyl)-3-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl) acrylic acid, designated SMND-309, was synthesized starting from 2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde in 12 steps and with an overall yield of 44%. The synthetic key features were the conversion of aryl aldehyde into aryl acetic acid for one-carbon extended, the Perkin condensation, and the Heck coupling for construction of α,β-unsaturated ester.     

Polyaromatic heterocycles through intramolecular alkyne carbonyl metathesis: 5-Acylnaphtho[2,1-b]benzofurans

A modular approach to 5-acylated naphtho[2,1-b]benzofurans was developed where Sonogashira cross-coupling and intramolecular alkyne carbonyl metathesis were sequentially employed to build the aromatic benzene C ring of naphtho[2,1-b]benzofuran with an acyl group at the C5 position.     

One step synthesis of indirubins by reductive coupling of isatins with KBH4

One step synthesis of the natural product indirubin by reductive coupling of isatin with KBH₄ is described and a possible mechanism for the reaction is proposed. Eleven indirubin derivatives were obtained easily from the corresponding substituted isatin.     

E-Stilbene derivatives synthesized by stereoselective reductive coupling of benzylic gem-dibromide promoted by Cu/polyamine

Stereoselective reductive coupling reaction of benzylic gem-dibromide promoted by Cu/polyamine produces E-stilbene derivatives with high yield under mild conditions. It provides a short pathway to synthesize symmetrical and asymmetrical E-stilbene derivatives using cheap reagents and alkenyl-free starting material together with easy workup.     

Viscoelastic behaviour of silica filled natural rubber composites – Correlation of shear with elongational testing

Dynamic mechanical behaviour of natural rubber-silica composites was studied by a frequency sweep method at different temperatures (40 °C,70 °C and 100 °C) using a dynamic mechanical analyzer and a rotorless rheometer, RPA, in an attempt to establish a correlation between the two. The composites with silica content up to 40 phr were studied. It was found that the dependence of dynamic modulus on the frequency as obtained from both the instruments followed a similar trend. This suggests that the dynamic mechanical properties of rubber compounds can be determined even during curing. A correlation could be arrived at between the two sets of data, making it possible to predict one set knowing the other. The impact of silane coupling agent, bis (3-triethoxysilylpropyl tetrasulphide), TESPT, on viscoelasticity was also investigated. The mechanical properties were improved in the presence of TESPT. Additionally, an increase in thermal stability was also observed in the presence of TESPT. Scanning electron micrographs showed the better filler dispersion in the case of silane-coupled silica composites.     

n-Butyllithium-promoted regioselective elimination of vicinal bis-triflate having an adjacent ether oxygen

Regioselective elimination of a vicinal bis-triflate having an adjacent ether oxygen functional group has been developed. Considered in the context of our studies of the regioselective elimination of vicinal dibromide, the key to the mechanism involves the electron-withdrawing inductive effect of the neighboring oxygen functional group. Aliphatic vinyl triflate was shown to be effective in Suzuki–Miyaura cross coupling compared with corresponding aliphatic vinyl bromide.     

Investigation of chemical activity,SCHIFF base reactions and staining effects of some amino acids by spectrophotometric and theorical methods

In this study, the staining properties of selected amino acids with Brassica oleraceae extract in alum and alum-free media were investigated. Basic, acidic and neutral amino acids (arginine, glutamic acid and glycine) were used to investigate the effect of staining. It was determined that all amino acids were stained in alum media. In the second step, the R group of amino acids found in the proteins of the cell nucleus was reacted with salicyl aldehyde. This reaction was successful only with Arginine. The staining properties of the newly formed compound were also investigated in alum and alum-free environments. Evaluation of the results was done using FT-IR and ¹H NMR methods. All compounds were optimized with the Gaussian G09 program (DFT/B3LYP/6.311 ?G(d.p) basic set. HOMO, LUMO and HOMO-LUMO gap values were determined. Chemical reaction capabilities of amino acids were discussed with the help of HOMO-LUMO gap values.     

Bénard-Marangoni instability in a viscoelastic Jeffreys' fluid layer

Coupled buoyancy (Bénard) and thermocapillary (Marangoni) convection in a thin fluid layer of a viscoelastic fluid are studied. The viscoelastic fluid is modeled by Jeffreys' constitutive equation. The lower surface of the layer is in contact with a rigid heat-conducting plate while its upper surface is subject to a temperature-dependent surface tension. The critical temperature difference between both boundaries corresponding to the onset of convection is calculated. The role of the various viscometric coefficients is discussed. In the appendix it is shown that Jeffreys' constitutive relation is easily derived from thermodynamic considerations based on extended irreversible thermodynamics.
