A propagation of the femtosecond second-order solitons in an optical fiber is studied. We show that a generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation well describes the propagation of the second-order soliton even containing only a few optical cycles. The propagations of a 50 fs and a 10 fs second-order soliton in an optical fiber are numerically simulated. It is found that, for the case of 10 fs second-order soliton, the soliton decay is dominated by the third-order dispersion, in contrast to the case of 50 fs second-order solitons, where the soliton decay is dominated by the delayed Raman response. It is also found that the exact delayed Raman response form must be used for the propagation of the 50 fs or less than 50 fs second-order soliton.  相似文献

In this paper we study the mean-square (MS) stability of the Milstein method for linear stochastic delay integro-differential equations (SDIDE) with Markovian switching by extending the techniques of [Z. Wang, C. Zhang, An analysis of stability of Milstein method for stochastic differential equations with delay, Computers and Mathematics with Applications 51 (2006) 1445–1452; L. Ronghua, H. Yingmin, Convergence and stability of numerical solutions to SDDEs with Markovian switching, Applied Mathematics and Computation 175 (2006) 1080–1091]. It is established that the Milstein method is MS-stable for linear stochastic delay differential equations (Wang and Zhang (2006); in the above reference). Here we prove that it is MS-stable for linear SDIDE with Markovian switching also under suitable conditions on the integral term. A numerical example is provided to illustrate the theoretical results.  相似文献

In this letter, abundant families of Jacobi elliptic function envelope solutions of the N-coupled nonlinear Schroedinger (NLS) system are obtained directly. When the modulus m → 1, those periodic solutions degenerate as the corresponding envelope soliton solutions, envelope shock wave solutions. Especially, for the 3-coupled NLS system, five types of Jacobi elliptic function envelope solutions are illustrated both analytically and graphically. The aim of this paper is to study the static problem about a general elastic multi-structure composed of an arbitrary number of elastic bodies, plates and rods. The mathematical model is derived by the variational principle and the principle of virtual work in a vector way. The unique solvability of the resulting problem is proved by the Lax-Milgram lemma after the presentation of a generalized Korn's inequality on general elastic multi-structures. The equilibrium equations are obtained rigorously by only assuming some reasonable regularity of the solution. An important identity is also given which is essential in the finite element analysis for the problem.  相似文献

We describe a hybrid method for the solution of hyperbolic conservation laws. A third‐order total variation diminishing (TVD) finite difference scheme is conjugated with a random choice method (RCM) in a grid‐based adaptive way. An efficient multi‐resolution technique is used to detect the high gradient regions of the numerical solution in order to capture the shock with RCM while the smooth regions are computed with the more efficient TVD scheme. The hybrid scheme captures correctly the discontinuities of the solution and saves CPU time. Numerical experiments with one‐ and two‐dimensional problems are presented. In this paper we demonstrate that some well‐known finite‐difference schemes can be interpreted within the framework of the local discontinuous Galerkin (LDG) methods using the low‐order piecewise solenoidal discrete spaces introduced in (SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 1990; 27 (6): 1466–1485). In particular, it appears that it is possible to derive the well‐known MAC scheme using a first‐order Nédélec approximation on rectangular cells. It has been recently interpreted within the framework of the Raviart–Thomas approximation by Kanschat (Int. J. Numer. Meth. Fluids 2007; published online). The two approximations are algebraically equivalent to the MAC scheme, however, they have to be applied on grids that are staggered on a distance h/2 in each direction. This paper also demonstrates that both discretizations allow for the construction of a divergence‐free basis, which yields a linear system with a ‘biharmonic’ conditioning. Both this paper and Kanschat (Int. J. Numer. Meth. Fluids 2007; published online) demonstrate that the LDG framework can be used to generalize some popular finite‐difference schemes to grids that are not parallel to the coordinate axes or that are unstructured. In this paper, the differential transform method is proposed for solving non-linear oscillatory systems. These solutions do not exhibit periodicity, which is the characteristic of oscillatory systems. A modification of the differential transform method, based on the use of Padé approximants, is proposed. We use alternative technique by which the solution obtained by the differential transform method is made periodic. The method is described and illustrated with examples. The results reveal that the method is very effective and convenient.  相似文献
