We study the single-photon scattering along a one-dimensional cavity array with two distant two-level atoms in a supercavity,which aims to simulate a recent x-ray experiment [Nature 482,199(2012)].Without introducing dissipation,we find that when one atom is exactly located at a node of a mode of the supercavity and the other is at the antinode of that mode,no splitting of the reflectivity peak can appear.Nevertheless,the atom at the node significantly changes the positions of the reflectivity valleys.On the other hand,when the atom is shifted a little from the exact node,then the splitting can appear.We also explain these results with an analysis based on the general formal scattering theory.Our result implies the importance of non-resonant modes of the supercavity in our problem. 相似文献

Some color centers in diamond can serve as quantum bits which can be manipulated with microwave pulses and read out with laser,even at room temperature.However,the photon collection efficiency of bulk diamond is greatly reduced by refraction at the diamond/air interface.To address this issue,we fabricated arrays of diamond nanostructures,differing in both diameter and top end shape,with HSQ and Cr as the etching mask materials,aiming toward large scale fabrication of single-photon sources with enhanced collection efficiency made of nitrogen vacancy(NV) embedded diamond.With a mixture of O_2 and CHF_3 gas plasma,diamond pillars with diameters down to 45 nm were obtained.The top end shape evolution has been represented with a simple model.The tests of size dependent single-photon properties confirmed an improved single-photon collection efficiency enhancement,larger than tenfold,and a mild decrease of decoherence time with decreasing pillar diameter was observed as expected.These results provide useful information for future applications of nanostructured diamond as a single-photon source. 相似文献

We present a robust method of single-photon modulation by directly modulating the single photons and observe its frequency spectrum. Compared with conventional photon counting technique, the single-photon modulation spectrum shows that the method could not only realize high-frequency modulation but also obtain higher signal-to-noise ratio. In t.his contribution, we briefly recall the basic concepts of quantum optics and properties of semicon- ductor quantum clot. (QD) which a.re necessary to the nnderstanding of the physics of single-photon generation with single QDs. Firstly, we address the theory of quantmn emitter-cavity system, the fluorescence and optical properties of semiconductor QDs, and the photon statistics as well as opti- cal properties of the QDs. We then review the localizatioll of single semiconductor QDs in quantum confined optical microcavity systems to achieve their overall optical properties and perfornances in terms of strong coupling regime, elfieiency, directionality, and polarization control. Furthermore, we will discuss the recenl, progress on the fabrication of single photon sources, and various a.pproaehes for embedding single QDs into mieroca,vities or photonic crystal nanoeavities and show how to ex- tend the wavelength range. We focus in part;icular on new generations of electrically driven QD single photon source leading to high repetition rates, efficiencies at elevated temperature operation. Besides strong eoupling regime, and high collection new development;s of room temperature sin- gle photon emission in the strong coupling regime are reviewed. After the birth of quantum mechanics, the notion in physics that the frequency of light is the only factor that determines the energy of a single photon has played a fundamental role. However, under the assumption that the theory of Lewis--Riesenfeld invariants is applicable in quantum optics, it is shown in the present work that this widely accepted notion is valid only for light described by a time-independent Hamiltonian, i.e., for light in media satisfying the conditions,ε(t)=ε(0), μ(t)=μ(0), and σ(t)=0 simultaneously. The use of the Lewis--Riesenfeld invariant operator method in quantum optics leads to a marvelous result:the energy of a single photon propagating through time-varying linear media exhibits nontrivial time dependence without a change of frequency. 相似文献

Heralded noiseless amplification is beneficial in overcoming transmission photon loss in a noisy quantum channel. We propose a single-photon-assisted heralded noiseless amplification protocol of the singlephoton entanglement (SPE), where the single-photon qubit has an arbitrary unknown polarization feature. We focus on both the complete and partial photon loss during the transmission process. After the amplification, the parties can recover the pure less-entangled SPE into a maximally entangled SPE and increase its fidelity. Moreover, the polarization feature of the single-photon qubit will be well preserved and not be leaked. Our protocol can be realized under our current experimental condition. Based on the features above, our protocol may be useful in the quantum secure communication schemes that encode information in the polarization degree of freedom of photons. 相似文献

We demonstrate quantum key distribution based on Bennett’s two-coherent-state protocol [Phys. Rev. Lett. 68 (1992) 3121]. The wavelength is set at 1550 nm for low-loss fiber transmission. A large reference pulse is used in order to enhance security of the protocol. The measured quantum bit-error rate is 2% for a fiber length of 10.5 km. 相似文献

Organic luminophores for electrochemiluminescence (ECL), namely polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, have been the first molecules investigated since the beginning of ECL studies. Moving from organic solvents to water-based solutions in view of analytical applications, the attention on ECL emitters shifted to soluble inorganic complexes, which prevailed in both fundamental and applied research. However, the investigation of organic molecules has recently revived owing to new synthetic procedures and concepts. Polymeric nanoparticles, surface functionalisation, aggregation-induced emission (AIE), and thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) sparked the research with renovated interest for organic molecules.
