Thermal decomposition of lanthanum nitrate to lanthanum oxide was carried out by both temperature programmed heating (TPH)
and citrate-gel combustion. The temperature programmed heating was carried out under flow of oxidizing (air), neutral (nitrogen)
and reducing (25 vol.% hydrogen+argone mixture) gases, and the processes were controlled by simultaneous thermogravimetry
and differential thermal analysis. It was shown that hydrogen atmosphere helps to reduce temperatures of all decomposition
steps. The results of TPH were utilized to check the nature of residues in the products of lanthanum nitrate-to-oxide conversion

The effect of an applied magnetic field on an inhomogeneous superconductor is studied and the value of the upper critical magnetic field Hc3 at which superconductivity can nucleate is estimated. In addition, the authors locate the concentration of the order parameter, which depends on the inhomogeneous term a(x). A finite element solution of the Navier-Stokes equations for steady flow under the magnetic effect through a double-branched two-dimensional section of a three-dimensional model of the canine aorta is discussed. The numerical scheme involves transforming the physical co-ordinates to a curvilinear boundary-fitted co-ordinate system. The shear stress at the wall is calculated for a Reynolds number of 1000 with the branch-to-main aortic flow rate ratio as a parameter. The results are compared with earlier works involving experimental data and found to be in reasonable qualitative agreement. The Raman interaction of a ultracold ion trapped with two travelling wave lasers is studied analytically with series solutions,
in the absence of the rotating wave approximation (RWA) and without restrictions of both the Lamb-Dicke limit and the weak
excitation regime. The comparison is made between our solutions and those obtained under the RWA in order to demonstrate the

The use of storage cells has become a standard technique for internal gas targets in conjunction with high energy storage
rings. In case of spin-polarized hydrogen and deuterium gas targets the interaction of the injected atoms with the walls of
the storage cell can lead to depolarization and recombination. Thus the number of wall collisions of the atoms in the target
gas is important for modeling the processes of spin relaxation and recombination. It is shown in this article that the diffusion
process of rarefied gases in long tubes or storage cells can be described with the help of the one-dimensional diffusion equation.
Mathematical methods are presented that allow one to calculate collision age distributions (CAD) and their moments analytically.
These methods provide a better understanding of the different aspects of diffusion than Monte Carlo calculations. Additionally
it is shown that measurements of the atomic density or polarization of a gas sample taken from the center of the tube allow
one to determine the possible range of the corresponding density weighted average values along the tube. The calculations
are applied to the storage cell geometry of the HERMES internal polarized hydrogen and deuterium gas target.

We study asymptotic properties of solutions to an extension to arbitrary dimensions of the astrophysical model proposed by Chavanis et al. to explain phenomena of gravitational collapse in clouds of self-gravitating particles. In particular, we show that in the two-dimensional case the solutions can be continued to global ones, while in three space dimensions large data of negative energy blow up in a finite time. We consider toy cosmological models in which a classical, homogeneous, spinor field provides a dominant or sub-dominant contribution to the energy-momentum tensor of a flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe. We find that, if such a field were to exist, appropriate choices of the spinor self-interaction would generate a rich variety of behaviors, quite different from their widely studied scalar field counterparts. We first discuss solutions that incorporate a stage of cosmic inflation and estimate the primordial spectrum of density perturbations seeded during such a stage. Inflation driven by a spinor field turns out to be unappealing as it leads to a blue spectrum of perturbations and requires considerable fine-tuning of parameters. We next find that, for simple, quartic spinor self-interactions, non-singular cyclic cosmologies exist with reasonable parameter choices. These solutions might eventually be incorporated into a successful past- and future-eternal cosmological model free of singularities. In an Appendix, we discuss the classical treatment of spinors and argue that certain quantum systems might be approximated in terms of such fields. 相似文献
