Experimental results on magnetic resonance (ESR) and magnetic susceptibility are given for single crystalline (VO)2P2O7. The crystal growth procedure is briefly discussed. The susceptibility is interpreted numerically using a model with alternating

=51 K and . Furthermore we find a spin gap of meV from our ESR measurements. Using elastic constants no indication of a phase transition forcing the dimerization is seen
below 300 K.

Equations for the temperature dependence of proton and deuteron spin–lattice relaxation rates and second moments due to a complex motion consisting of classical jumps over a potential barrier and quantum mechanical tunneling through the barrier have been derived. Asymmetric double and triple potential wells are considered. These equations have been employed to analyze proton spin–lattice relaxation data for solid naphthazarin in the laboratory and rotating frames as a function of temperature. Attenuation of the signals of the nutation echo of E’-centers in crystalline and glass quartz was experimentally investigated
at room temperature. The nutation echo in EPR was excited in the single-photon regime and formed by two Zeeman-field pulses
with duration t1 and t2 (t1<t2) and time interval between them τ. The echo signal was recorded during the second pulse at t≈2t1+τ. It was established that this signal attenuation, measured as t1 increased, follows an, exponential law, its rate Γ is much less than 1/T2 (T2 is the transverse relaxation time), and it linearly increases with an increase in the amplitude of the exciting SHF field
B1. The parameters of the dependence of Γ on B1 correlate with the parameters of the analogous dependence revealed previously for attenuation of nutation of E’-centers in
quartz in the two-photon regime at T=4.2 K. At the same time, the value of Γ measured with different values of τ is independent
of B1 and is equal to 1/T1, where T1 is the longitudinal relaxation time.

The magnetic susceptibility, using dc and electron spin resonance (ESR) methods, the specific heat, and the infrared properties
of the one-dimensional molecular semiconductors lithium phthalocyanine (LiPc) and the iodinated compound LiPcI have been investigated
for temperatures K. LiPc has a half-filled conduction band and is expected to be an organic metal. However, due to the strong Coulomb repulsion
the system is a one-dimensional Mott-Hubbard insulator with a Hubbard gap of 0.75 eV as inferred from optical measurements.
The localized electrons along the molecular stacks behave like a S = 1/2 antiferromagnetic spin chain. The spin susceptibility, as determined by ESR experiments, and the magnetic contribution
to the heat capacity show a Bonner-Fisher type of behavior with an exchange constant K. LiPcI is an intrinsic narrow-gap semiconductor with an optical gap of 0.43 eV. In ESR experiments it is silent, indicating
that all the unpaired electrons have been removed from the macrocycle via doping with iodine.

We present measurements of the attenuation and phase velocity of surface acoustic waves in thin YBa2Cu3O films as a function of temperature, in magnetic fields up to 3.6 T applied parallel to the c-axis of the films. We have observed anomalies in both, the attenuation and the phase velocity in the vicinity of the superconducting
critical temperature which do not depend on the magnetic field. Possible origins of these anomalies, observed, to our knowledge,
for the first time in YBa2Cu3O thin films, are discussed and compared to bulk acoustic wave experiments. We present a kind of feedback technique for surface
acoustic waves which improves the sensitivity of this type of measurement. The actual sensitivity limits are mentioned.

The viscosity-dependent retarding effect of a polymeric solvent on the rotation of small solute molecules is investigated by13C NMR relaxation measurements. It is found that the relaxation data of 1,3-dibromoadamantane in highly viscous polymeric chlorotrifluoroethene can be explained neither by isotropic nor by realistic anisotropic tumbling in a single environment. The experimental data are rationalized in terms of fast exchange between at least two environments with correlation times differing by up to two orders of magnitude. The study shows that a uniform retardation of molecular tumbling by a polymeric solvent, desirable for shifting the NMR observation window in studies of intramolecular mobility, is not always feasible. 相似文献

Measurement ofT2G, the Gaussian component of the spin-echo envelope of planar Cu nuclei in high-temperature superconductors, gives important information about the real part of the Cu electron spin susceptibility. In the traditional picture of the planar Cu echo decay, the internuclear coupling is assumed to remain static with respect to spin–lattice relaxation and mutual exchange fluctuations. In some circumstances, however, this assumption breaks down. We calculate the internuclear corrections arising from spin–lattice relaxation to the conventional theory ofT2Gand show thatT2Gcan be easily corrected for these effects. We argue that mutual exchanges due to the perpendicular indirect couplings are suppressed in these materials. For YBa2Cu4O8, we find a correction on the order of 10% inT2Gand using the corrected values we find that the isotope ratio63T2G/65T2Gagrees with theory. 相似文献

Residual effects of an initial bolus of gadolinium contrast agent have been previously demonstrated in sequential dynamic susceptibility contrast MR experiments. While these residual effects quickly reach a saturation steady state, their etiology is uncertain, and they can lead to spurious estimates of hemodynamic parameters in activation experiments. The possible influence ofT1effects is now investigated with experiments in whichT1weighting is varied as well as with serial regionalT1measurements. Little evidence for significant residualT1effects is found, suggesting instead that susceptibility effects underlie these observations. We investigate, within the fluctuation-exchange approximation, a correlated-electron model for represented by two inequivalent Hubbard layers coupled by an interlayer hopping . An energy offset is introduced in order to produce a different charge carrier concentration in the two layers. We compare several single-particle
and magnetic excitations, namely, the single particle scattering rate, the spectral function and the spin lattice as well
as spin-spin relaxation times in the two layers as a function of . We show that the induced interlayer magnetic coupling produces a tendency to “equalization” of the magnetic properties in
the two layers whereby antiferromagnetic fluctuations are suppressed in the less doped layer and enhanced in the heavily doped
one.The strong antiferromagnetic bilayer coupling causes the charge carriers in the plane with larger doping concentration
to behave similar to those of the underdoped layer, they are coupled to. This effect grows for decreasing temperature. For
high temperatures or if both layers are optimally or overdoped, i.e. when the antiferromagnetic correlation length becomes of the order or smaller than one lattice site the charge carrier and
magnetic dynamics of the two layers is disconnected and the equalization effect disappears. These results are in good agreement
with NMR experiments on by Stern et al. [Phys. Rev B 51, 15478 (1995)]. We also compare the results with calculations on bilayer systems with equivalent layers as models for the
constituent compounds and .
