T‐joins intersecting small edge‐cuts in graphs

In an earlier paper 3 , we studied cycles in graphs that intersect all edge‐cuts of prescribed sizes. Passing to a more general setting, we examine the existence of T‐joins in grafts that intersect all edge‐cuts whose size is in a given set A ?{1,2,3}. In particular, we characterize all the contraction‐minimal grafts admitting no T‐joins that intersect all edge‐cuts of size 1 and 2. We also show that every 3‐edge‐connected graft admits a T‐join intersecting all 3‐edge‐cuts. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Graph Theory 56: 64–71, 2007     

Using an Integer Programming Model to Determine the Price of Combination Vaccines for Childhood Immunization

The Recommended Childhood Immunization Schedule has become sufficiently crowded that the prospect of adding additional vaccines to this schedule may not be well received by either health-care providers or parents/guardians. This has encouraged vaccine manufacturers to develop combination vaccines that can permit new vaccines to be added to the schedule without requiring children to be exposed to an unacceptable number of injections during a single clinic visit. This paper develops an integer programming model to assess the economic premium that exists in having combination vaccines available. The results of this study suggest that combination vaccines provide a cost effective alternative to individual vaccines and that further developments and innovations in this area by vaccine manufacturers can provide significant economic and societal benefits.     

离心泵叶轮参数对进口回流的影响

本文对不同叶片进口角、叶片数、不同叶顶间隙的开式和闭式离心叶轮共12种叶轮的进口流场和回流发生情况进行了探针的动态测试和可视化观察．弄清了上述叶轮参数对进口回流初始流量和进口流场的影响．     

新型富勒烯衍生物的光限幅研究

应用倍频Ｎｄ∶ＹＡＧ脉冲激光，在波长为５３２ｎｍ、脉冲宽度分别为８ｎｓ和２３ｐｓ的条件下，研究了新型富勒氮烯乙酰氨衍生物（Ｎ－ａｃｅｔａｍｉｄｅ１，２－ｄｉｈｙｄｒｏ－１，２－ａｚａ－ｆｕｌｅｒｅｎｅ［６０］）的反饱和吸收与光限幅特性。实验结果表明，同脉宽为纳秒的激发脉冲相比，富勒烯乙酰氨衍生物对脉宽为皮秒的脉冲限幅效果比较好。     

用可视化方法优化微生物培养基的营养条件

应用可视化方法,对生物发酵培养基的营养条件进行优化.以培养基组成构建多维向量空间,通过降维分析法将多维空间的拓扑结构展现在二维平面上,变成可视化图像,并自动产生目标函数等值线.从中得出同时满足各项指标值的最佳操作区域,并运用逆映射公式将得出最优化区域逆推到原高维空间,进而得到最优培养基组成.以锌酵母为例,介绍可视化方法优化全过程.     

Resultants and the algebraicity of the join pairing on Chow varieties

The Chow/Van der Waerden approach to algebraic cycles via resultants is used to give a purely algebraic proof for the algebraicity of the complex suspension. The algebraicity of the join pairing on Chow varieties then follows. The approach implies a more algebraic proof of Lawson's complex suspension theorem in characteristic 0. The continuity of the action of the linear isometries operad on the group completion of the stable Chow variety is a consequence.

     

Group Theoretic Properties of the Group of Computable Automorphisms of a Countable Dense Linear Order

We compare Aut(Q), the classical automorphism group of a countable dense linear order, with Aut _c (Q), the group of all computable automorphisms of such an order. They have a number of similarities, including the facts that every element of each group is a commutator and each group has exactly three nontrivial normal subgroups. However, the standard proofs of these facts in Aut(Q) do not work for Aut _c (Q). Also, Aut(Q) has three fundamental properties which fail in Aut _c (Q): it is divisible, every element is a commutator of itself with some other element, and two elements are conjugate if and only if they have isomorphic orbital structures.     

3-D imaging and modeling – Part I: acquisition and registration

The key modules in a typical reverse engineering system consist of the acquisition, registration, and the integration of range images of three-dimensional objects with complex geometry. We first present a self-made optical digitizer that is employed for quickly acquiring range data from multiple views, then introduce a visualized registration procedure that can provide a reliable estimate for the fine registration of multiple range images in a unified coordinate system. Experiment results are given to show the effectiveness of this approach in 3-D imaging and multiple range image registration for the applications of reverse engineering.
