A series of etching and annealing experiments are designed to evaluate the characteristics of fission tracks in a number of glasses of varying silica content. A comparative study has been made by comparing the calculated value of bulk etch rate, optimum etch time and annealing rate for each glass. The present investigation suggests that both bulk etch rate (VG) and annealing rate (Va) increases with the decrease in silica content of glasses. The fluoropolymer poly(vinylidene fluoride) was irradiated with γ rays to induce a polystyrene (PS) radiation grafting via an indirect method. Electron spin resonance and Fourier transform infrared studies were performed to identify the species that initiated the PS grafting. Specific experiments were performed to prove separately the importance of each kind of radical. New values for enthalpies of solution in water are reported for galacturonic acid and maltose monohydrate. In magnetic nanoparticles the uniform precession
(q = 0 spin wave) mode gives the predominant contribution
to the magnetic excitations. We have calculated the energy of the
uniform mode in antiferromagnetic nanoparticles with uncompensated
magnetic moments, using the coherent potential approximation. In
the presence of uncompensated moments, an antiferromagnetic
nanoparticle must be considered as a kind of a ferrimagnet. Two
magnetic anisotropy terms are considered, a planar term confining
the spins to the basal plane, and an axial term determining an
easy axis in this plane. Excitation energies are calculated for
various combinations of these two anisotropy terms, ranging from
the simple uniaxial case to the planar case with a strong
out-of-plane anisotropy. In the simple uniaxial case, the
uncompensated moment has a large influence on the excitation
energy, but in the planar case it is much less important. The
calculations explain recent neutron scattering measurements on
nanoparticles of antiferromagnetic α-Fe2O3 and NiO. 相似文献

(C = 16, 20, 22, 24, 26 and 28 at. %) metallic glasses have been reported using Ashcroft’s empty core (EMC) model potential
for the first time. Five local field correction functions proposed by Hartree (H), Taylor (T), Ichimaru-Utsumi (IU), Farid
et al. (F) and Sarkar et al. (S) are used in the present investigation to study the screening influence on the aforesaid properties. It is observed that
the electron-phonon coupling strength λ and the transition temperature T
C
are quite sensitive to the selection of the local field correction functions, whereas the Coulomb pseudopotential μ*, isotope effect exponent α and effective interaction strength N
O
V show weak dependences on the local field correction functions. The T
C
obtained from H-local field correction function are found in qualitative agreement with available experimental data and show
almost linear nature with the concentration (C) of ‘Ga’ element. A linear T
C
equation is proposed by fitting the present outcomes for H-local field correction function, which is in conformity with other
results for the experimental data. Also, the present results are found to be in qualitative agreement with other such earlier
reported data, which confirms the superconducting phase in the metallic glasses.

A simple method based on Sagnac interferometric spectroscopy (SIS) is applied for frequency stabilization of diode lasers. Sagnac interferometric spectra of rubidium vapor are investigated both theoretically and experimentally. The interference signal at the output of the Sagnac interferometer displays a sharp dispersion feature near the atomic resonance. This dispersion curve is used as the feedback error signal to stabilize the laser frequency. Linewidth of a diode laser is stabilized down to 1 MHz by this modulation-free method. 相似文献

We carry out a systematic study of the different contributions to the deviations of the elliptic flows from the quark number scaling in high energy heavy ion collision in a quark combination model.The effects that we considered are:the resonance decay,the flavor dependence of the quark elliptic flow and the combination of quarks/antiquarks with slightly different transverse momenta.Our results show that the deviations observed in experiments can be well reproduced within the combination framework if all the three effects are considered. We make a detailed analysis of the different contributions using a Monte-Carlo program and suggest measuring the quark number scaling in intermediate pT range more precisely. 相似文献
