The He--McKellar--Wilkens effect for spin-1 particles on non-commutative space

By using star product method, the He-McKellar-Wilkens （HMW） effect for spin-one neutral particle on noncommutative （NC） space is studied. After solving the Kemmer-like equations on NC space, we obtain the topological HMW phase on NC space where the additional terms related to the space-space non-commutativity are given explicitly.     

Spectral feature with sub-natural linewidth due to quantum interference in a four-level system

This paper studies the narrow spectral feature appearing in a four-level system coupled by two strong coherent fields and probed by a weak laser field. The linewidth is examined as a function of the Rabi frequencies of coupling fields, and the result is explained by using the dressed-state formalism.     

Quantum analysis on the four-photon interference

We present a theory for quantum interference of four photons generated by spontaneous parametric downconversion. Detailed investigation of the dependence of fourfold coincidence count rate on time delay between the incident and the reflective pump laser pulses is carried out. Gaussian type dependence is found, and good agreement between our theoretical results and experimental data reported in the literature is achieved.     

Widely tunable dual-pump parametric amplifiers with photonic crystal fibres

This paper theoretically studies the double-pumped fibre-optical parametric amplifiers （FOPAs） in photonic crystal fibres. Two distinct working regimes of FOPAs are researched, which depend on the dispersion at the central wavelength of the two pumps. Extremely broad tuning range can be obtained when the central pump wavelength is in the normal dispersion regime and is insensitive to the wavelength separation between the two pumps, while the tuning range is narrow in the anomalous dispersion regime and can be significantly enhanced by increasing the wavelength separation. Impacts of higher-order dispersions and temporal walk-off on the gain spectra are also discussed.     

Circular threshold quantum secret sharing

This paper proposes a circular threshold quantum secret sharing （TQSS） scheme with polarized single photons. A polarized single photon sequence runs circularly among any t or more of n parties and any t or more of n parties can reconstruct the secret key when they collaborate. It shows that entanglement is not necessary for quantum secret sharing. Moreover, the theoretic efficiency is improved to approach 100% as the single photons carrying the secret key are deterministically forwarded among any t or more of n parties, and each photon can carry one bit of information without quantum storage. This protocol is feasible with current technology.     

Scheme for implementing quantum dense coding with four-particle decoherence-free states in an ion trap

This paper proposes an experimentally feasible scheme for implementing quantum dense coding of trapped-ion system in decoherence-free states. As the phase changes due to time evolution of components with different eigenenergies of quantum superposition are completely frozen, quantum dense coding based on this model would be perfect. The scheme is insensitive to heating of vibrational mode and Bell states can be exactly distinguished via detecting the ionic state.     

Quantum state sharing of an arbitrary qudit state by using nonmaximally generalized GHZ state

We present a scheme for quantum state sharing of an arbitrary qudit state by using nonmaximally entangled generalized Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger （GHZ） states as the quantum channel and generalized Bell-basis states as the joint measurement basis. We show that the probability of successful sharing an unknown qudit state depends on the joint measurements chosen by Alice. We also give an expression for the maximally probability of this scheme.     

The dynamics of triple-well trapped Bose-Einstein condensates with atoms feeding and loss effects

In this paper, we consider the macroscopic quantum tunnelling and self-trapping phenomena of Bose-Einstein condensates （BECs） with three-body recombination losses and atoms feeding from thermal cloud in triple-well potential. Using the three-mode approximation, three coupled Gross-Pitaevskii equations （GPEs）, which describe the dynamics of the system, are obtained. The corresponding numerical results reveal some interesting characteristics of BECs for different scattering lengths. The self-trapping and quantum tunnelling both are found in zero-phase and ：r-phase modes. Furthermore, we observe the quantum beating phenomenon and the resonance character during the self-trapping and quantum tunnelling. It is also shown that the initial phase has a significant effect on the dynamics of the system.     

Scheme for the implementation of 1→3 optimal phase-covariant quantum cloning in ion-trap systems

This paper proposes a scheme for the implementation of 1→ 3 optimal phase-covariant quantum cloning with trapped ions. In the present protocol, the required time for the whole procedure is short due to the resonant interaction, which is important in view of decoherence. Furthermore, the scheme is feasible based on current technologies.     

Analysis of a recent experiment seemingly favouring local realism against quantum mechanics

A recent experiment by Brida et al. [Eur. Phys. J. D 44, 547 (2007)] is analyzed with the conclusion that the results disagree with standard quantum predictions but fit a simple local hidden variables model. New experiments are proposed which might throw new light on the anomaly.
