A stable single longitudinal mode (SLM) fiber ring laser that incorporates polarization maintaining erbium doped fiber (PM EDF) acting as gain medium and saturable absorber is proposed and demonstrated. Both theoretical deviation and experimental result prove that optical intensity is time invariant when the laser operates in single longitudinal mode, the SLM operation can be approximately verified by optical intensity analysis, which is practical to analyze longitudinal mode in the application of engineering. The linewidth of the fiber ring laser is measured by the delayed self-heterodyne interferometery, and an acousto-optic frequency shifter is employed to shift the lasing frequency and eliminate zero frequency interfere. The SLM operation is verified by the scanning Fabry–Perot interferometer, whereas the lasing frequency drift slowly during a period of 2 h, PM EDF is proved to be effective on suppressing mode hopping and selecting longitudinal mode. 相似文献

Shift of resonance frequency in microsphere optical resonator due to attachment of a desirable particle is obtained. Our 3-D finite element numerical method (FEM) simulations’ results show the path of light through microsphere and its variation due to attachment of particle. It is apparent that after attachment of particle to microsphere's surface, light is inclined to pass through the particle. Subsequently, the path of light becomes longer than previous. Because of this phenomenon, the resonance wavelength shifts to longer wavelengths. It is shown that microsphere optical resonator is a prominent biosensor for single virus detection since we applied characteristics of virus for particle in our simulations. Response of this biosensor depends on the characteristics of particle like its radius as we show in this article. Transmission spectrum of fiber which reveals a selected resonance frequency, have been studied in the frequency range of 106.3 to 107 THz under three different sizes of particles. The results show that the amount of frequency shift rises by enhancement of particle's size. 相似文献

A current-mode current-tunable four-phase quadrature oscillator (QO) using current differencing transconductance amplifiers (CDTA) is presented in this paper. The proposed QO consists of three CDTAs and two grounded capacitors, which can provide four quadrature current outputs at high impedance nodes. The proposed QO has the advantages of electronically and independently control of oscillation condition and oscillation frequency. Moreover, the active and passive sensitivities of the QO are low. The 2D FDTD method is used to design a tapered photonic crystal fiber, where large mode area is prominently coupled to optical fiber. For the first time, we observed that the mode area is stabilized with respect to possible fabrication tolerance by implementing a secondary surrounding waveguide with configuration of large air holes in the outer ring. The mode field area can be obtained in tapered region using a full vectorial H field technique. When Fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) are used as strain sensors, both longitudinal and lateral strain can be applied uniformly or non-uniformly over the length of the FBGs. In order for the demodulation of such FBG signal, this paper investigates the response of birefringent FBGs which are monitored by distributed measurement system based on optical frequency domain reflectometry. A numerical model of the distributed measurement system is built based on piece-wise uniform approach, which considers polarization states of propagating lights. The numerical model simulates analytical response of birefringent FBGs especially when birefringence induces power fluctuations in the distributed spectra, which can be noise or new opportunity for sensitive monitoring of birefringence. Simulation results show the relationships between the power fluctuations and the polarization states of the propagating lights. Consequently, appropriate methods of polarization control for sensitive distributed birefringent FBG monitoring are discussed. 相似文献

采用粉料漂浮高温熔融法自制Nd3+掺杂硫系玻璃微球,研究了腔量子电动力学增强效应对稀土掺杂硫系玻璃微球荧光光谱的影响。把直径90.53μm的硫系玻璃微球与锥腰直径1.02μm的石英光纤锥耦合,将808nm抽运激光导入微球,荧光光谱存在分立的共振峰。根据米氏散射理论公式,计算得到TE偏振态下基模的三个共振峰位置,确定了这三个共振峰的模式序数。增强因子η≈1122,这表明微球荧光自发辐射速率增强幅度为1122倍。在基模条件下对原增强因子公式进行近似化简,并利用近似公式进行估算得到η≈1167,误差为4%。 相似文献

The transient response analysis of the SLED based on the equivalent circuit is described. Then, a C-band SLED using TE0,1,15 mode cylindrical cavity with TE10-TE01 mode converter has been designed. According to the main RF parameters of the accelerator, the coupling coefficient is optimized to obtain the maximum multiplication factor. The key components of the pulse compressor include a 3 dB directional coupler, a TE10-TE01 mode converter,and a cylindrical cavity, which are simulated and optimized using 3D electromagnetic field simulation software. Phase synchronization (PS) in a periodically pump-modulated two-mode solid state laser is investigated. Although PS in the laser system has been demonstrated in response to a periodic modulation with the main relaxation oscillation (RO) frequency of the free-running laser, little is known about the case of modulation with minor RO frequencies. In this Letter, the empirical mode decomposition (EMD) method is utilized to decompose the laser time series into a set of orthogonal modes and to examine the intrinsic PS near the frequency of the second RO. The interface optical phonons and its ternary effects in onion-like quantum dots are studied by using dielectric continuum model and the modified random-element isodisplacement model. The dispersion relations, the electron–phonon interactions and ternary effects on the interface optical phonons are calculated in the GaN/AlxGa1 − xN onion-like quantum dots. The results show that aluminium concentration has important influence on the interface optical phonons and electron–phonon interactions in GaN/AlxGa1 − xN onion-like quantum dots. The frequencies of interface optical phonons and electron–phonon coupling strengths change linearly with increase of aluminium concentration in high frequency range, and do not change linearly with increasing aluminium concentration in low frequency range. 相似文献
