The status and accuracy of the precision Monte Carlo generators used for luminosity measurements at flavour factories is reviewed.It is shown that,thanks to a considerable,long-term effort in tuned comparisons between the predictions of independent programs,as well as in the validation of the generators against the presently available calculations of the next-to-next-to-leading order QED corrections to Bhabha scattering,the theoretical accuracy reached by the most precise tools is of about one per mille.This error estimate is valid for realistic experimental cuts,appears to be quite robust and is already sufficient for very accurate luminosity measurements.However,recent progress and possible advances to further improve it are also discussed. 相似文献

In this work, we consider the method of non-linear boundary integral equation for solving numerically the inverse scattering problem of obliquely incident electromagnetic waves by a penetrable homogeneous cylinder in three dimensions. We consider the indirect method and simple representations for the electric and the magnetic fields in order to derive a system of five integral equations, four on the boundary of the cylinder and one on the unit circle where we measure the far-field pattern of the scattered wave. We solve the system iteratively by linearizing only the far-field equation. Numerical results illustrate the feasibility of the proposed scheme. 相似文献

The Debye-series decomposition is of importance for understanding of light scattering features and for the validity of the geometrical optics approximation to light scattering. The numerical stability and accuracy for calculating light scattering with Debye series is studied and an improved algorithm is proposed in this work. The ratios of the Riccati-Bessel functions and the logarithmic derivatives of the Riccati-Bessel functions are employed and calculated with proper recurrences. Herbs and minerals are the integral parts of traditional systems of medicine in many countries. Herbo-Mineral medicinal preparations
called Bhasma are unique to the Ayurvedic and Siddha systems of Indian Traditional Medicine. These preparations have been used since long and are claimed to be the very effective
and potent dosage form. However, there is dearth of scientific analytical studies carried out on these products, and even
the existing ones suffer from incomplete analysis. Jasada Bhasma is a unique preparation of zinc belonging to this class. This particular preparation has been successfully used by traditional
practitioners for the treatment of diabetes and age-related eye diseases. This work presents a first comprehensive physicochemical
characterization of Jasada Bhasma using modern state-of-the-art techniques such as X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), inductively coupled plasma (ICP),
elemental analysis with energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX), dynamic light scattering (DLS), and transmission electron
microscopy (TEM). Our analysis shows that the Jasada Bhasma particles are in oxygen deficient state and a clearly identifiable fraction of particles are in the nanometer size range.
These properties like oxygen deficiency and nanosize particles in Jasada Bhasma might impart the therapeutic property of this particular type of medicine.

The Compass experiment at CERN is studying the nucleon spin structure with a 160 GeV polarized muon beam and polarized targets as well as hadron structure with 190 GeV pion, kaon and proton beams. The paper gives an overview of the results for the helicity and transverse spin structure of the nucleon. A first result from the spectroscopy experiments, the observation of a resonance with exotic JPC = 1- + quantum numbers at 1660 MeV is also presented. Based on the solution of a boundary problem for disconnected (Killing) horizons and the resulting violation of characteristic black hole properties, we present a non-existence proof for equilibrium configurations consisting of two aligned rotating black holes. Our discussion is principally aimed at developing the ideas of the proof and summarizing the results of two preceding papers (Neugebauer and Hennig, 2009 [2], Hennig and Neugebauer, 2011 [3]). Summary An original Monte Carlo study of the equilibrium microscopic and macroscopic recombination cross-sections at shallow impurity
centres is presented. Both cross-sections are investigated in lightly dopedp-Si as functions of the temperature and ionized acceptor concentration. In order to treat generation-recombination processes
we extend the semi-classical Boltzmann equation through a simulation of the carrier motion in the energy-configuration space
of an impurity centre. The analysis of the scattering rates as a function of the total carrier energy enables a microscopic
interpretation of the capture process to be carried out. The role of excited levels is naturally included and found to be
of main importance at increasing lattice temperatures. Numerical results are then compared with available experiments and
