Electrochemical formation and composition analysis of Zn x Cd1-x Se solid solutions

The direct growth of ZnSe–CdSe solid solution onto metallic cathodes by electrodeposition from acidic aqueous sulphate solutions is described. The plating process is studied by simple voltammetry, while the structure and composition of the electrolytic deposits are investigated by X-ray diffraction. The experimental d-spacing values of the as-grown mixed lattice are compared to data from reference Zn _x Cd_1-x Se pellets of standard composition, produced by a sintering method. The findings are supplemented with energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) elemental analysis. Thereupon, the variation of the mole fraction x in Zn _x Cd_1-x Se, and the solid phase constitution of the electrodeposits are determined and correlated to the electrochemical conditions of growth. The resulting films contain admixtures of CdSe compound and metallic Cd.     

Analysis method of the effect of fabrication errors on a planar waveguide demultiplexer

The impact of fabrication errors on a planar waveguide demultiplexer is analyzed based on an analytical method. The explicit expression of the transfer function taking into account phase and amplitude errors is presented in order to analyze the loss and crosstalk of the demultiplexer caused by fabrication errors. A basic requirement for the demultiplexer with a certain crosstalk criterion can be easily obtained. Using an etched diffraction grating demultiplexer as an example, it is shown that the analytical results have a good agreement with results from a numerical method.     

Gevrey properties of real planar singularly perturbed systems

By applying geometric techniques to real analytic singularly perturbed vector fields on the plane, we develop a way to give a bound on the Gevrey type of the Taylor development of canard manifolds at degenerate planar turning points. By blowing up the phase space at the turning point, we find asymptotic estimates even when such expansions w.r.t. traditional phase space variables do not exist. The asymptotic estimates are then used to give a sufficient and necessary condition on the existence of (local) canard solutions.

Searching for extensible Korobov rules

Complexity 19 (2003) 286–300]. For the special case of extensible Korobov sequences, parameters can be found in [F.J. Hickernell, H.S. Hong, P. L’Ecuyer, C.Lemieux, Extensible lattice sequences for quasi-Monte Carlo quadrature, SIAM J. Sci. Comput. 22 (2001) 1117–1138]. The searches made to obtain these parameters were based on quality measures that look at several projections of the lattice. Because it is often the case in practice that low-dimensional projections are very important, it is of interest to find parameters for these sequences based on measures that look more closely at these projections. In this paper, we prove the existence of “good” extensible Korobov rules with respect to a quality measure that considers two-dimensional projections. We also report results of experiments made on different problems where the newly obtained parameters compare favorably with those given in [F.J. Hickernell, H.S. Hong, P. L’Ecuyer, C. Lemieux, Extensible lattice sequences for quasi-Monte Carlo quadrature, SIAM J. Sci. Comput. 22 (2001) 1117–1138].     

Andreev-Fano Effect in a Hybrid Normal-Metal/Superconductor Interferometer

We report on a new type of Fano effect, named as Andreev-Fano effect, in a hybrid normal-metal/supeeconductor (N/S) interferometer embedded with a quantum dot. Compared with the conventional Fano effect, AndreevFano effect has some new features related to the characteristics of Andreev reflection. In the Iinear response regime, the line shape is the square of the conventional Fano shape, while in the nonlinear transport, a sharp resonant structure is superposed on an expanded interference pattern, which is qualitatively different from the conventional Fano effect. The phase dependence of the hybrid N/S interferometer is also distinguished from those of all-N or all-S interferometers.     

Fixed point theorems in metric spaces

In this paper, we establish two general theorems for equivalence between the Meir–Keeler type contractive conditions and the contractive definitions involving gauge functions. One of these theorems is an extension of a recent result of Lim (On characterization of Meir–Keeler contractive maps, Nonlinear Anal. 46 (2001) 113–120).     

具有时滞的细胞神经网络的全局指数稳定性

利用Liapunov函数方法,结合积分不等式技巧,分析了时滞细胞神经网络的平衡点存在的唯一性和全局指数稳定性,保证时滞细胞神经网络全局指数稳定的一个新的充分判据被得到.所得判据比已有文献具有更少的限制,为实际应用提供了方便.     

CALCULUS OF VARIATIONS WITH DIRICHLET BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEM FOR PERTURBED SECOND-ORDER DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS ON A HALF-LINE

Dirichlet boundary value problems for perturbed second-order differential equations on a half line are investigated in this paper. The methods mainly depend on the calculus of variations to the classical functionals. Sufficient conditions are obtained for the existence of the solutions.     

An Implicit Iteration Process with Errors for a Finite Family of r-strictly Asymptotically Pseudocontractive Mappings

In this paper,we will establish several strong convergence theorems for the approximation ofcommon fixed points of r-strictly asymptotically pseudocontractive mappings in uniformly convex Banachspaces using the modiied implicit iteration sequence with errors,and prove the necessary and sufficient conditionsfor the convergence of the sequence.Our results generalize,extend and improve the recent work,in thistopic.
