In this paper, the reflection of a plane wave at a traction free boundary of a half -space composed of triclinic crystalline material is considered. It is shown that an incident plane wave generates three plane waves, namely quasi-P (qP), quasi-SV (qSV) and quasi-SH (qSH) waves governed by the propagation condition involving the acoustic tensor. A simple procedure is presented for the calculation of all the three phase velocities of these waves. It is demonstrated that the direction of particle motion is neither parallel nor perpendicular to the direction of propagation. A procedure is established for the calculation of the amplitude vector in terms of the phase velocity, the propagation vector, and the stiffness coefficients of the medium. Closed form solutions are obtained for the reflection coefficients of qP, qSV and qSH waves. Using the parameters of Vosges sandstone exhibiting triclinic symmetry, the graphical representations of the reflection coefficients due to an incident qP wave are given. It is observed that, in triclinic medium, the reflection coefficients are significantly different from those in an isotropic medium. 相似文献

In multicomponent media, the equilibrium states are defined by thermodynamic equilibrium conditions in the form of the equalities between the pressures and temperatures of the components, the maximum entropy principle (or the free-energy minimum) for the mixture, and the equality of the velocities of the components. The conservation laws for the components allow for their interaction with each other in the form of forces and energy fluxes containing the differences of the velocities, pressures, and temperatures of the components. The form of momentum and energy exchange between each component and the continuum expressing the collective properties of the ensemble of components, is also considered. Transformation of hanging discontinuities into vortex systems in a stratified flow behind a cylinder
The mechanisms of formation of hanging discontinuities, vortex dipoles, and vortex arrays in the wave wake behind a cylinder moving at a constant velocity in a stratified fluid are investigated using various schlieren methods. The existence of discontinuities is attributable to the distortion of the internal-wave phase pattern in the shear flow and to the varying stratification and subsequent interaction of the waves with the appearing nonuniformities. Hanging discontinuities and vortex systems are low-velocity analogs of shock waves. An analysis of the internal-wave pattern indicates that the values of the normal velocity component differ on the upper and lower edges of the discontinuities. The use of effective-medium treatments to estimate bulk properties pertaining to transport (of, for example, fluids, heat, particles or electricity) through random composite media (such as reservoir rocks), is widespread. This is because they are relatively simple, often reasonably accurate (on occasion, remarkably so) and in many cases yield closed-form expressions for the properties concerned. However, the single-bond effective-medium treatment (EMT) of random resistor networks that has been used to determine transport coefficients for various transport problems in pore networks is limited to some special isotropic networks with nearest-neighbour connections. We demonstrate here that transport through two different fracture system models, with stress-induced anisotropy, can be treated using an EMT originally applied to anisotropic resistor networks. The main purpose of the present contribution, however, is to present a new, more general effective medium formalism applicable to networks of arbitrary topology. This new generalised EMT is used to obtain a new criterion for percolation of an arbitrary conducting network under random dilution. A specific application to unsaturated flow through a pore network with nearest- and next-nearest-neighbour connections is also given. 相似文献

An idealized model of a porous rock consisting of a bundle of capillary tubes whose cross-sections are regular polygons is used to assess the importance of viscous coupling or lubrication during simultaneous oil-water flow. Fluids are nonuniformly distributed over tubes of different characteristic dimension because of the requirements of capillary equilibrium and the effect of interfacial viscosity at oil-water interfaces is considered. With these assumptions, we find that the importance of viscous coupling depends on the rheology of the oil-water interface. Where the interfacial shear viscosity is zero, viscous coupling leading to a dependence of oil relative permeability on oil-water viscosity ratio for viscosity ratios greater than one is important for a range of pore cross-section shapes and pore size distributions. For nonzero interfacial shear viscosity, viscous coupling is reduced. Using values reported in the literature for crude oil-brine systems, we find no viscous coupling. 相似文献

An analytical method was derived for the thermal consolidation of layered, saturated porous half-space to variable thermal loading with time. In the coupled governing equations of linear thermoelastic media, the influences of thermo-osmosis effect and thermal filtration effect were introduced. Solutions in Laplace transform space were first obtained and then numerically inverted. The responses of a double-layered porous space subjected to exponential decaying thermal loading were studied. The influences of the differences between the properties of the two layers (e.g., the coefficient of thermal consolidation, elastic modulus) on thermal consolidation were discussed. The studies show that the coupling effects of displacement and stress fields on temperature field can be completely neglected, however, the thermo-osmosis effect has an obvious influence on thermal responses. 相似文献

We propose a microscopic model based on directed percolation for the process of mechanical clogging of a porous medium by particles suspended in a fluid flow. Under appropriate conditions the deposited particles may form fractal clusters. A criterion for the occurrence of fractal clogging is presented. It links together the particle size and the pore size distribution. The effect of microscopic inhomogeneities is studied inside and outside the critical region using Monte Carlo calculations in two dimensions. The critical exponents remain unchanged because the perturbation induced by these inhomogeneities is irrelevant. The percolation threshold is found to shift to higher values almost linearly with increasing size of obstacles. For size distributed obstacles the arithmetic mean of the distribution is the only significant parameter which determines the shift. Type and broadness of the distribution have no influence. Also the percolation probability depends only on the mean even outside the critical region for all values of the occupation probability. Occupying the same fraction of the porous matrix, large obstacles cause more particles to deposit than small ones. 相似文献
