Fractional programming and characterization of some vertices of the feasible region

This paper considers a problem of nonlinear programming in which the objective function is the ratio of two linear functions and the constraints define a bounded and connected feasible region. Using a coordinate transformation, this problem is transformed into a simpler one, whose geometric interpretation is of particular significance. The transformation leads to a characterization of some special vertices of the feasible region from both the theoretical and operational points of view.     

Linear and Nonlinear Optical Properties Of Racemic (±)2-(α-Methylbenzylamino)-5-Nitropyridine Single Crystals

Linear and nonlinear optical properties of racemic (±)2-(α-methylbenzylamino)-5-nitropyridine ((±)MBANP) single crystals have been comprehensively investigated and compared with those of the enantiomorph (–)2-(α-methylbenzylamino)-5-nitropyridine ((–)MBANP) crystals. (±)MBANP crystal exhibits very high chemical and physical stability, but relatively small nonlinear optical coefficients (d₃₁ = 6.8 pm/V, d₃₂ = 4.7 pm/V, d₃₃ = 0.84 pm/V). A comparison between the nonlinear optical coefficients of (±)MBANP and (–)MBANP demonstrates the validity of the oriented-gas model in molecular crystals that neglects all the contributions from intermolecular interaction.     

叶栅全三维粘性反问题的数值解

本文发展了一种解叶栅全三维粘性反问题的新的数值方法.基于非正交曲线坐标与相应的非正交速度分量下完全守恒型的Navier－Stokes方程,全三维反问题规定叶片表面的无量纲压力分布反求叶型。计算中叶片表面的边界条件采用一种特殊的方式来处理，即一方面强加给定的压力分布条件,另方面叶面的几何位置在迭代过程中又是可移动的，其移动速度将与Navier—Stokes方程在当地的解联系起来，从而形成一种解定常问题的新的不定常过程.试算证明了本文方法的可行性。     

The universal nilpotent group compactification of a semigroup

The purpose of this paper is to introduce an algebra of functions on a semitopological semigroup and to study these functions from the point of view of universal semigroup compactification. We show that the corresponding semigroup compactification of this algebra is universal with respect to the property of being a nilpotent group.

     

拟线性常微分方程在半无限区间的边值问题

Existence of positive solution is established for boundary value problems of non-singular for a class quasi-linear ordinary differential equation on the semi-infinite interval. The results are obtained by using the nonlinear alternative of Leray-Schauder method.     

Exact boundary observability for 1‐D quasilinear wave equations

By means of a direct and constructive method based on the theory of semi‐global C² solution, the local exact boundary observability and an implicit duality between the exact boundary controllability and the exact boundary observability are shown for 1‐D quasilinear wave equations with various boundary conditions. On parabolic equations with a small parameter

A singularly perturbed parabolic equation with a nonlinear right-hand side of a special form is examined. A numerical analytical study of such equations is performed.     

Gevrey properties of real planar singularly perturbed systems

By applying geometric techniques to real analytic singularly perturbed vector fields on the plane, we develop a way to give a bound on the Gevrey type of the Taylor development of canard manifolds at degenerate planar turning points. By blowing up the phase space at the turning point, we find asymptotic estimates even when such expansions w.r.t. traditional phase space variables do not exist. The asymptotic estimates are then used to give a sufficient and necessary condition on the existence of (local) canard solutions.     

Mathematical modelling and analytical solution for workpiece temperature in grinding

This paper deals with modelling the workpiece temperature field produced during the grinding process. The proposed model is given in terms of a two-dimensional boundary-value problem where the interdependence among the grinding wheel, the workpiece and the coolant is described by two variable functions in the boundary condition. An explicit integral form solution is constructed using the Laplace and Fourier transforms and the Green’s function method.     

Multiple doubly periodic solutions of semi-linear damped beam equations

The purpose of this work is to investigate the weakened Ambrosetti–Prodi type multiplicity results for weak doubly periodic solutions of damped beam equations. By using the topological degree theory, the author obtains a result which is similar to the result for damped wave equations in the literature.
