Spectrophotometric Determination of Rhenium(IV) with Thiocyanate,TX-100 and N,N′-Diphenylbenzamidine

A spectrophotometric method to determine rhenium(IV) at trace level is based on the extraction of Re(IV)-SCN^? complex in sulphuric acid media with N,N′-diphenylbenzamidine(DPBA) in presence of a non-ionic surfactant triton X-100 (TX-100) in chloroform. The complex shows maximum absorbance at 435 nm with amolar absorptivity value of 4.24 × 10⁴ L mol^?1 cm^?1 at an acidity range 3.5-6.5 M H₂SO₄. The method followed Beer's Law for the system Re(IV)-SCN^?(TX-100)-DPBA upto 4.0 μg Re(IV) mL^?1. The detection limit of the method is 5 ppb. None of the tested foreign ions, except molybdenum(VI), interfere with the determination of rhenium. The interference due to molybdenum could effectively be removed by prior precipitation with oxine. The effect of various analytical parameters on the extraction of the metal are discussed.     

Comparison by capillary SFC and SFC-MS of soxhlet and supercritical fluid extraction of hamster feces

Components of hamster feces ranging from low molecular weight fatty acids through the expected range of triglycerides have been eluted in a single SFC run with simultaneous pressure and temperature programming. Temperature programming from 140°C to 240°C was required to provide optimum conditions for separation of the fatty acids and to move the elution region of the sterol esters away from that of the triglycerides. Data from chemical ionization and electron impact mass spectrometry of compounds separated by SFC were used to confirm identities suggested by retention measurements and to provide tentative identities of unknown compounds. SFC with flame ionization detection was used to compare Soxhlet extraction, off-line supercritical fluid extraction (SFE), and on-line SFE of the feces. Although samples obtained by Soxhlet extraction and SFE produced very similar chromatograms, SFE required far less time and consumed much smaller quantities of organic solvent.

Reduced Clusters with Remarkable Topological and Electronic Properties of the Type of [V₁₈O₄₂(X)]^n? (X = SO₄, VO₄) with T_d-Symmetry and Related Clusters [V_(18—p)As_2pO₄₂(X)]^m? (X = SO₃, SO₄, H₂O; p = 3, 4) The novel cluster-compounds Na₆[V₁₈O₄₂H₉(VO₄)] · 21 H₂O, (NH₄)₈[V₁₈O₄₂(SO₄)] · 25 H₂O, K₆[V₁₅As₆O₄₂(H₂O)] · 8 H₂O, (NH₄)₆[V₁₄As₈O₄₂(SO₃)], (NH₄)₆[V₁₄As₈O₄₂(SO₄)] and [N(CH3)₃]₄[₄V₁₄As₈0₄₂(H₂0)] were prepared and characterized by IR- and UV/Vis/NIR-spectroscopy, magnetic measurements and complete crystal structure analysis. Topological relations to the rhombicuboctahedron spanned by 24 0-atoms of the genuine hypothetical a-Keggin ion, at which the square planes are capped by V?O or As₂O groups, are discussed. Of particular interest are the ?extended”? Keggin ions [V₁₈O₄₂(X)]ⁿ- (X = SO₄ VO₄), (formaly derived from the hypothetical genuine a-Keggin ion by addition of six V?O groups) which have quite different electron populations in spite of the same structure of their cluster shells.     

Direct synthesis of (η-arene)-tricarbonylchromium complexes by arene displacement from tricarbonyl(η-1-methylpyrrole)chromium(0)

Arene displacement from the title complex occurs under unprecedented mild conditions in neutral media to afford (η⁶-arene)tricarbonylchromium complexes. The process is most effective with heteroaromatic compounds: the first synthesis of a tricarbonyl(η⁶-quinoline)chromium complex and the diastereoselective preparation of a (η⁶-indole) complex derived from L-tryptophan are reported as representative examples.     

New activated bisfluoroaromatic compounds

Bis (p-fluorophenylethynyl) derivatives were obtained by the reaction of bisbromoaromatic compounds withp-fluorophenylacetylene in the presence of a Pd catalyst. Subsequent oxidation of these products using an I₂-DMSO system led to new bis(p-fluorophenylglyoxaly)ketones, α-diketones, and heterocyclic compounds. Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. 锂离子电池高比容量FeSn2-C复合负极材料的合成与性能

Sn基合金负极材料具有高达990 mAh·g^-1的理论比容量,但其也存在因脱嵌锂过程发生巨大的体积变化而导致循环性能较差的问题. 本文以Sn、Fe、石墨为原料利用简易的高能球磨法成功制备了具有核壳结构的FeSn₂-C复合物,系统研究了球磨时间、FeSn₂相含量对材料物相结构及电化学性能的影响,并分析了电极的失效机理. 研究表明,球磨时间的增加有利于FeSn₂金属间化合物相的形成及材料颗粒的细化,进而有利于材料比容量的增加及循环性能的提升;FeSn₂相含量的增加能够提高FeSn₂-C材料的比容量,但会降低FeSn₂-C电极的循环稳定性. 经工艺优化及组分调节,球磨24 h合成的Sn₂₀Fe₁₀C₇₀材料具有最优的电化学性能,材料的比容量在540 mAh·g^-1左右,并能稳定循环100次,是一种非常有发展前途的锂离子电池高比容量负极材料.     

New S,O-acetals from (1R)-(−)-myrtenal as chiral auxiliaries in nucleophilic additions

Treatment of hydroxythiol 4 with α,α-diethoxyacetophenone at room temperature yielded a mixture of epimeric S,O-acetals 6 and 7 (1:4, 92% yield), which were efficiently separated by flash chromatography. The OTBS derivatives 8 and 9 were treated with several Grignard reagents to afford carbinols 10 and 13 respectively (85-99% yield, >95% dr). After successive hydrolysis and reduction of 10 and 13 it is possible to obtain either enantiomer of diols 16 in high optical purity (>95% er).     

Application of the Hall™ electrolytic conductivity detector for the analysis of chloroanilines and chloronitroanilines in POTW sludges

Simultaneous detection with a 700-A Hall? and an NPD detector is an effective technique for characterizing chloro-and chloronitroanilines in highly complex Publicly Owned Water Treatment Works (POTW) sludges. The utilization of a modified Varian effluent splitter and a SE-54 fused silica capillary column permitted the detection of mid-picogram quantities of the polar chloroanilines without sacrificing peak shape. The response of the Hall? detector in the halogen mode was roughly proportional to the number of chlorine atoms present, while the response of the Hall? in the nitrogen mode and the NPD was less predictably influenced by the presence of one or more nitro groups. When combined with retention time data, the ratio of the NPD response to the Hall? response has been found to substantiate the presence of chloro- and chloronitroanilines in sludge extracts.     

An unprecedented highly efficient solvent-free oxidation of alkynes to α,β-acetylenic ketones with tert-butyl hydroperoxide catalyzed by water-soluble copper complex

The catalytic system composed of CuCl₂ and 2,2′-biquinoline-4,4′-dicarboxylic acid dipotassium salt (BQC) was found to be highly efficient for the selective α-oxidation of internal alkynes to the corresponding α,β-acetylenic ketones, with aqueous tert-butyl hydroperoxide under mild conditions. For the first time, full conversions of alkynes were reached with excellent selectivities, and propargylic tert-butylperoxy ethers were observed and suggested as the reaction intermediates. In the case of terminal alkynes, the oxidations are sluggish and low yields ranging from 32% to 40% were obtained.
