This paper investigates the performance of a quasioptical gyrotron, when the electron beam interacts with the radiation fields at harmonics of the gyrofrequency. The nonlinear equations of motion are obtained in the slow-timescale. The expression for the linear gain is derived and the conditions for excitation are given (frequency threshold, optimal operating point, bean current and resonator quality thresholds). In the nonlinear regime, it is shown that maximum efficiencies comparable to those at the fundemental (50%) are possible, albeit at a prohitively high radiation field amplitude, while realistically feasible field amplitudes can give somewhat smaller, but nevertheless still high efficiencies (15%). Finally, the results are suplemented by empirical scaling laws, useful for experimental designs. 相似文献

The gas chromatographic separation of the components of a complex mixture of industrial solvents, not possible on a single stationary phase owing to coelution of some of the compounds, has been achieved on two serially connected wide bore capillary columns of different polarity. The analysis of a mixture of twenty five compounds was optimized using the serial gas chromatography theory of Purnell and Williams. The capacity factors of sample components measured with the two columns coupled in series were found to agree with those predicted by theory, regardless of the order in which they were connected. 相似文献

By taking the coupling effect into consideration, we study the resonance condition of a photonic wire microring resonator (PWRR) sensor and compare our results with the previous work. Simulation results show that the resonant wavelength and sensitivity strongly depend on the coupling strength. The difference caused by the coupling effect can be up to tens of nanometers for the resonant peak position and tens of nm/RIU for the sensitivity in a silicon-on-insulator (SOI) PWRR. Such a giant influence from coupling effect cannot be disregarded and should be considered seriously for the design and application of PWRRs. Four‐component relativistic calculations of 77Se–13C spin–spin coupling constants have been performed in the series of selenium heterocycles and their parent open‐chain selenides. It has been found that relativistic effects play an essential role in the selenium–carbon coupling mechanism and could result in a contribution of as much as 15–25% of the total values of the one‐bond selenium–carbon spin‐spin coupling constants. In the overall contribution of the relativistic effects to the total values of 1J(Se,C), the scalar relativistic corrections (negative in sign) by far dominate over the spin‐orbit ones (positive in sign), the latter being of less than 5%, as compared to the former (ca 20%). A combination of nonrelativistic second‐order polarization propagator approach (CC2) with the four‐component relativistic density functional theory scheme is recommended as a versatile tool for the calculation of 1J(Se,C). Solvent effects in the values of 1J(Se,C) calculated within the polarizable continuum model for the solvents with different dielectric constants (ε 2.2–78.4) are next to negligible decreasing negative 1J(Se,C) in absolute value by only about 1 Hz. The use of the locally dense basis set approach applied herewith for the calculation of 77Se–13C spin‐spin coupling constants is fully justified resulting in a dramatic decrease in computational cost with only 0.1–0.2‐Hz loss of accuracy. A highly symmetric ZnO micro-fence is prepared to form an optical resonator, which a symmetric array consisting of six elongated hexagonal microcolumns. It is found that the luminescence emission could be enhanced at the edge of ZnO micro-fence and the wavelength dependent light intensity could be influenced by its geometry. The optical characterization along with theoretical calculations and computer simulation analysis suggest that the Fabry-Perot and Cross-whispering gallery modes are generated in ZnO micro-fence. The individual ZnO micro-fence can regarded as an optical resonator structure. Furthermore, it is proposed that the source concentration around the substrate during the growth is a crucial factor for forming such a micro-fence. 相似文献

Jordan operator algebras are norm‐closed spaces of operators on a Hilbert space with for all . In two recent papers by the authors and Neal, a theory for these spaces was developed. It was shown there that much of the theory of associative operator algebras, in particular, surprisingly much of the associative theory from several recent papers of the first author and coauthors, generalizes to Jordan operator algebras. In the present paper we complete this task, giving several results which generalize the associative case in these papers, relating to unitizations, real positivity, hereditary subalgebras, and a couple of other topics.
