STURM COMPARISON THEOREM OF SOLUTION FOR SECOND ORDER NONLINEAR DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS

In this paper, we establish some differential identities and obtain some Sturm comparison theorems for the second order nonlinear differential equation by using them.and generalize some classicial Sturm comparison theorems.     

ASYMPTOTIC BEHAVIOR OF SOLUTIONS OF NONLINEAR DELAY DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS

Sufficient conditions are established for the asymptotic behavior of solutionsof nonlinear delay differential equations x′(t)+sum from i=1 to m(pi(t)x(t-т_i))=F(t,x_t),t≥0where 0<т_1<т_2<…<т_m≤r,pi∈C([0,∞)),i=1,2,…,m,F∈C([0,∞)×C_0,R).C_0=C([-r,0],R)equipped with the sup norm ||·|| forsome r>0. A new result is established, some known results are improved.     

Nonlinear Boundary Stabilization of Nonuniform Timoshenko Beam

In this paper, the stabilization problem of nonuniform Timoshenko beam by some nonlinear boundary feedback controls is considered. By virtue of nonlinear semigroup theory, energy-perturbed approach and exponential multiplier method, it is shown that the vibration of the beam under the proposed control actiondecays exponentially or in negative power of time t as t→∞.     

Viscosity solutions of fully nonlinear parabolic systems

In this paper, we discuss the viscosity solutions of the weakly coupled systems of fully nonlinear second-order degenerate parabolic equations and their Cauchy-Dirichlet problem. We prove the existence, uniqueness and continuity of viscosity solution by combining Perron's method with the technique of coupled solutions. The results here generalize those in Proc. London Math. Soc. 63 (1991) 212-240 and Comm. Partial Differential Equations 16 (1991) 1095-1128.     

Continuous modified Newton’s-type method for nonlinear operator equations

A nonlinear operator equation F(x)=0, F:H→H, in a Hilbert space is considered. Continuous Newton’s-type procedures based on a construction of a dynamical system with the trajectory starting at some initial point x ₀ and becoming asymptotically close to a solution of F(x)=0 as t→+∞ are discussed. Well-posed and ill-posed problems are investigated. Nonlinear multiple objective optimization: An algorithm and some theory

This paper presents an algorithm and the supporting theory for solving a class of nonlinear multiple criteria optimization problems using Zionts—Wallenius type of interaction. The Zionts—Wallenius method, as extended in this paper, can be used for solving multiple criteria problems with concave objective and (implicit) value functions and convex feasible regions. Modifications of the method to handle nonconvex feasible regions and general nonlinear objective functions are also discussed.This research was supported, in part, by a Faculty Research Development Award and by a Council of 100 Research Grant from Arizona State University (Roy), and by a grant from Y. Local convergence of quasi-Newton methods for B-differentiable equations

We study local convergence of quasi-Newton methods for solving systems of nonlinear equations defined by B-differentiable functions. We extend the classical linear and superlinear convergence results for general quasi-Newton methods as well as for Broyden's method. We also show how Broyden's method may be applied to nonlinear complementarity problems and illustrate its computational performance on two small examples.     

An RQP algorithm using a differentiable exact penalty function for inequality constrained problems

In this paper we propose a recursive quadratic programming algorithm for nonlinear programming problems with inequality constraints that uses as merit function a differentiable exact penalty function. The algorithm incorporates an automatic adjustment rule for the selection of the penalty parameter and makes use of an Armijo-type line search procedure that avoids the need to evaluate second order derivatives of the problem functions. We prove that the algorithm possesses global and superlinear convergence properties. Numerical results are reported.     

圆薄板非对称大变形弯曲问题

本文首先导出圆薄板非轴对称大变形问题的位移基本方程及边界条件.利用变换和摄动法将非线性位移方程线性化,得到了近似边值问题.作为算例,文中研究了圆薄板在较复杂载荷作用下的非线性弯曲问题.     

关于非线性波动方程的爆破现象

通过引入一类“爆破因子K(u,ut）”,讨论了非线性波动方程分别具Newmann边界条件和Dirichlet边界条件时,混合问题对于常见的各种非线性情形及初值条件,解在有限时间内的爆破行为。
