Nonlinear multiple objective optimization: An algorithm and some theory

This paper presents an algorithm and the supporting theory for solving a class of nonlinear multiple criteria optimization problems using Zionts—Wallenius type of interaction. The Zionts—Wallenius method, as extended in this paper, can be used for solving multiple criteria problems with concave objective and (implicit) value functions and convex feasible regions. Modifications of the method to handle nonconvex feasible regions and general nonlinear objective functions are also discussed.This research was supported, in part, by a Faculty Research Development Award and by a Council of 100 Research Grant from Arizona State University (Roy), and by a grant from Y. THE MODELING AND ESTIMATION OF THE SHORT-RUN SUPPLY OF ROUNDWOOD UNDER NONLINEAR INCOME TAXES

This paper deals with the theory and estimation of the short-run supply of roundwood under nonlinear (progressive) income taxation. The theoretical part of the paper uses the two-period consumption harvesting model to introduce nonlinear income taxes into the forest management problem and presents a simple method to determine the optimal supply of roundwood in this case. In the empirical part of the paper, the model is specified in a way suitable for econometric analysis. The estimation method is the maximum likelihood method, and the estimation results seem to support the theoretical model. Finally, some results from model simulation imply that income taxation may have a nonnegligible impact on the supply of roundwood.     

A NUMERICAL EMBEDDING METHOD FOR SOLVING THE NONLINEAR COMPLEMENTARITY PROBLEM(Ⅱ)-ALGORITHM AND ITS CONVERGENCE

In this paper,based on the results presented in part Ⅰ of this paper[18],we present a numerical embedding algorithm for solving the nonlinear complementarityproblem, and prove its convergence carefully. Numerical experiments show that thealgorithm is successful.     

«Living polymers» in organic solvents: Bicopper (II) tetracarboxylate solutions

Summary Viscoelastic solutions of a binuclear copper(II) tetracarboxylate (Cu₂S₈) in tert-butylcyclohexane (TBC) have been investigated by rheology and small-angle neutron scattering techniques. The data are analysed in the theoretical framework of the so-called ?living polymers?. The Cu₂S₈ aggregates are semi-rigid thin heterogeneous molecular threads undergoing scission/recombination reactions. Structural and dynamical correlations have been made with the thermotropic columnar phase and some lyotropic swollen mesophases of the system. The simplicity of the composition and structural constitution enables to avoid the usual salt and composition problems of the aqueous analogues and also to deduce some most probable behaviours related to the scission mechanisms, chain flexibility and dynamics of stress relaxation. Mindlin板几何非线性分析的附加内部剪应变法

本文在几何非线性分析的Ｍｉｎｄｌｉｎ板元中引入单元附加内部剪应变，有效地解决了薄板情况下的剪切自锁问题．文中导出了相应的能量相容条件，给出了有限元非线性列式的全过程及有关簿板及中厚板大挠度问题的数值结果．     

一些非线性发展方程的显式行波解

该文给出了一种构造非线性发展方程显式行波解的方法并用该方法得到了Hirota-Satsuma方程组,一类非线性常微分方程以及广义耦合标量场方程组的显式行波解.     

NONLOCAL INITIAL PROBLEM FOR NONLINEAR NONAUTONOMOUS DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS IN A BANACH SPACE

The nonlocal initial problem for nonlinear nonautonomous evolution equati-ons in a Banach space is considered. It is assumed that the nonlinearities havethe local Lipschitz properties. The existence and uniqueness of mild solutionsare proved. Applications to integro-differential equations are discussed.The main tool in the paper is the normalizing mapping (the generalizednorm).     

Stable Solution of Nonlinear Age-structured Forest Evolution System

This paper studies the dynamical behavior of a class of total area dependent nonlinear age-structured forest evolution model. We give the problem of equal value for the forest system, and discuss the stable solution of system. We obtained the necessary and sufficient conditions for there exists the stable solution.     

Fluctuation Theory for a Three-Dimensional Model of Maxwellian Molecules

Under suitable assumptions, a functional central limit theorem is obtained for a three-dimensional model of Maxwellian molecules. This model is related to a nonlinear Boltzmann-type equation. It will be proved that the family of the distributions induced by fluctuation processes converges weakly.     

Nonlinear Diffusion Processes

We study elliptic systems of strongly nonlinear first-order differential equations in complex form on the plane. For such systems we develop the theory of Hilbert boundary value problems which is very much similar to the well-known theory for a holomorphic vector. Systems of nonlinear elliptic equations describe problems of interaction of several nonlinear stationary processes in the diffusive and convective mass and heat transport by hydrodynamic fluid flows.
