The application and the performance of the neighboring optimal feedback scheme presented in Part 1 of this paper is demonstrated for the heating-constrained cross-range maximization problem of a space-shuttle-orbiter-type vehicle. We prove some new evaluations for multiple polylogarithms of arbitrary depth. The simplest of our results is a multiple zeta evaluation one order of complexity beyond the well-known Broadhurst–Zagier formula. Other results we provide settle three of the remaining outstanding conjectures of Borwein, Bradley, and Broadhurst. A complete treatment of a certain arbitrary depth class of periodic alternating unit Euler sums is also given.  相似文献

The argument examined in this paper is that music – when approached through making and responding to coherent musical structures,facilitated by multiple, intuitively accessible representations – can become a learning context in which basic mathematical ideas can be elicited and perceived as relevant and important. Students' inquiry into the bases for their perceptions of musical coherence provides a path into the mathematics of ratio,proportion, fractions, and common multiples. Ina similar manner, we conjecture that other topics in mathematics – patterns of change,transformations and invariants – might also expose, illuminate and account for more general organizing structures in music. Drawing on experience with 11–12 year old students working in a software music/math environment, we illustrate the role of multiple representations, multi-media, and the use of multiple sensory modalities in eliciting and developing students' initially implicit knowledge of music and its inherent mathematics. In this paper authors prove a general theorem on generating relations for a certain sequence of functions. Many formulas involving the families of generating functions for generalized hypergeometric polynomials are shown here to be special cases of a general class of generating functions involving generalized hypergeometric polynomials and multiple hypergeometric series of several variables. It is then shown how the main result can be applied to derive a large number of generating functions involving hypergeometric functions of Kampé de Fériet, Srivastava, Srivastava-Daoust, Chaundy, Fasenmyer, Cohen, Pasternack, Khandekar, Rainville and other multiple Gaussian hypergeometric polynomials scattered in the literature of special functions.  相似文献

The problem of transformation of the front of a plane longitudinal shock wave by curvilinear interfaces of layered anisotropic elastic media with different mechanical properties is considered. To solve the nonlinear Snell equations, the approach based on a synthesis of the Newton method and the algorithm of parametric continuation of a solution is used. The cases of focusing and scattering of rays by convex and concave interfaces of layered composite media and by convex lenses are investigated. Numerical examples are given for various ratios between the parameters of the elastic media.  相似文献

We consider a fifth-order partial differential equation (PDE) that is a generalization of the integrable Camassa–Holm equation. This fifth-order PDE has exact solutions in terms of an arbitrary number of superposed pulsons with a geodesic Hamiltonian dynamics that is known to be integrable in the two-body case N==2. Numerical simulations show that the pulsons are stable, dominate the initial value problem, and scatter elastically. These characteristics are reminiscent of solitons in integrable systems. But after demonstrating the nonexistence of a suitable Lagrangian or bi-Hamiltonian structure and obtaining negative results from Painlevé analysis and the Wahlquist–Estabrook method, we assert that this fifth-order PDE is not integrable.  相似文献

Suppose that the signal X to be estimated is a diffusion process in a random medium W and the signal is correlated with the observation noise. We study the historical filtering problem concerned with estimating the signal path up until the current time based upon the back observations. Using Dirichlet form theory, we introduce a filtering model for general rough signal X W and establish a multiple Wiener integrals representation for the unnormalized pathspace filtering process. Then, we construct a precise nonlinear filtering model for the process X itself and give the corresponding Wiener chaos decomposition.  相似文献

We have treated the Hulthén-modified separable potentials within the framework of the phase-function method and obtained a closed form expression fors-wave scattering phase shift. Specializing to a rank one separable potential we have found out the limiting conditions in which the Hulthén-modified phase shift goes over to its Coulomb counterpart. We demonstrate the usefulness of our approach by means of a model calculation. Based in part on a Ph.D. thesis to be submitted by one of the authors (AKJ) to Visva-Bharati University.  相似文献
