Parametric amplification at low-frequency pumping and generation of four-mode entangled states

We show that parametric amplification at low-frequency pumping can be implemented in aperiodic nonlinear photonic crystals. In this process, the intensities of the waves with frequencies higher than the pumping frequency increase with increase in the interaction length as in the case of the standard process of parametric amplification at high-frequency pumping. The process under consideration includes a nondegenerate parametric down-conversion followed by two parametric up-conversions in the same pumping wave. As a result, generation at four new frequencies arises. Quantum analysis of the process demonstrates the presence of entanglement in the states of four modes. Talk presented at the oral issue of J. Design of Transmission Line for Submillimeter Wave Gyrotron Using Dielectric-Lined Waveguide

The excitation and transmission losses of a dielectric-lined waveguide have been calculated with real, experimentally measured output beams of a submillimeter wave gyrotron. It is shown that for not-so-long transmission lines the coupling losses far exceed the transmission losses in the waveguide.     

渐变折射率光纤标量近似的微扰修正方法

在弱波导近似下,计及了折射率梯度的影响,把▽ε看作微扰项,应用微扰理论,给出了修正到任一级近似的标量场方程,建立了一级修正解的一般表达式,并给出了相关参量的确定方法。最后,以抛物线折射率剖面单模光纤为例,给出了简要分析结果。     

斜波导喇曼振荡器

 采用斜波导的喇曼氢气池, 使泵浦激光束在波导内部传播, 增大了受激喇曼散射的作用区域。在传播过程中光束截面逐渐被压缩, 补偿因波导内壁的反射损耗而引起的功率密度下降。在一定气压范围内提高了喇曼转换的效率, 并利用波导对激光束的均匀作用, 使输出的一阶斯托克斯光光强的均匀性获得改善。     

Propagation Characteristics of a High-Power Microwave in Waveguide Filled with Plasma

Analytical theory of high-power microwave propagation in waveguide filled with plasma is presented in this paper. The ponderomotive force effect of high power microwave is taken into consideration and preliminary numerical calculations are carried out, the propagation characteristics of the high-power microwave and the influence of microwave power on the distribution of plasma density are calculated and discussed.     

Modeling and Simulation of Saturation Gain of IR Integrated Photonic Amplifiers

IR integrated photonic amplifiers at 1.55m operation will have good foreground in optical phasedarray radars for splitters and signal processing. The saturation gain characteristics of IR integrated photonic waveguide amplifiers (taken Er³⁺Yb³⁺ co-doped phosphate glass waveguide amplifiers as an example) are studied theoretically. For the homemade laser glass materials the calculated saturation intensities are 2.22kw /cm² for signal and 10.15kw/cm² for pump. The effects of absorption saturation of signal and pump lights on the gain of amplifiers are discussed.     

Investigations of the E-O behavior in the poled polymer waveguide

The electro-optic (E-O) properties of the slab polymer waveguide induced by electric poling have been studied experimentally. The thin film waveguide was prepared by a synthesized polymer polypelargonamide and poled by applying voltage between the electrodes. I–V curves and E-O characteristics of the polymer films were in-situ measured during poling. In order to evaluate the molecular dipole orientation under the poling field, the absorption spectra of this film was observed by FTIR. The E-O performance of the polymer slab film was also estimated by the Mach–Zehnder interferometer.     

Full-wave analysis of dielectric waveguides at a given frequency

New variational formulation to compute propagation constants is proposed. Based on it, vector finite element method is proved to exclude spurious modes provided finite elements possess discrete compactness property. Convergence analysis is conducted in the framework of collectively compact operators. Reported theoretical results apply to a wide class of vector finite elements including two families of Nedelec and their generalization, the -edge elements. Numerical experiments fully support theoretical estimates for convergence rates.
