A multireference configurational interaction method based on the separated electron pair (SEP) wave functions, SEP‐CI approach, has been developed as an approximation to the traditional CASSCF method. It differs from the CASSCF method in that active orbitals are obtained from the SEP wave function without further optimization in the subsequent CI calculations, and the active space is automatically constructed according to the occupation coefficients of SEP natural orbitals. These features make the present SEP‐CI method computationally much less demanding than the CASSCF method. Geometric and electronic properties of Pdn–1Pb and Pdn (n≤8) clusters have been studied by using density functional theory with effective core potentials, focusing on the differences between mono- and bimetallic clusters. The average bond length of Pdn–1Pb (n≤8) bimetallic clusters is longer than that of pure palladium clusters except for n = 2 and 3. The most stable structure of Pdn–1Pb (n≤7) is the singlet where there is at least a Pd or Pb atom on its excited state. The energy gaps of Pd–Pb binary clusters are narrower than those of Pdn clusters, and then the chemical activity is strengthened when Pdn clusters are doped with Pb. 相似文献

High-resolution electron microscopy (HREM) has been used to image the surface structure of nano- and micrometer-sized synthetic crystals of zeolite-Linde-L (LTL). Columnar holes and rotational, nano-sized, wheel-like defects were observed within the crystals, where the hole has a minimum size equal to that of the rotational defect. Predictions of surface structure from atomistic computer simulation concur with the observations from HREM and provide insight into the crystal growth mechanism of perfect and defective LTL. Analysis of the energetics of the formation of rotational defect structures reveals that the driving force for defect creation is thermodynamic and furthermore, the rotational defects could be created in high concentrations. Formation of a columnar hole is found to be slightly energetically unfavourable and therefore we speculate that the incidence of both rotational and nano-sized vacancy defects is strongly dependent on kinetic factors and reaction conditions. The morphology of nano- and microcrystalline LTL is contradistinct and we use insights from simulation to propose an explanation of the disparity in crystal shape. 相似文献

The molecular structure of 1,1-bis(trimethylsilylethynyl)cyclopropane has been studied by the gas electron diffraction method, by vibrational spectroscopic methods and by ab initio calculations at the RHF and MP2 levels. A scaled quantum-chemical force field was used for band assignment in the experimental IR (4000-100 cm−1) and Raman (4000-200 cm−1) spectra. An X-band EPR study on a Na_3(CrMo_6O_(24)H_6)·8H_2O single crystal diluted by its isomor-phic compound Na_3(AlMo_6O_(24)H_6)·8H_2O at room temperature is reported. Using the least squares-fitting method to simulate the EPR data for principal planes, the Hamiltonian parameterswere obtained. The principal values of the g tensors are g_(ZZ) = 1.904, g_(XX)= 1.973, g_(YY)=1.933. The zero field splitting tensor parameters are D = 0.275 cm~(-1), E = 0.05 cm~(-1). The fielddependence of Cr~(3+) energy levels with field at different angles from the principal axes whenthe field is along the principal planes is calculated based on these experimental parameters.The isofrequency plots of calculated field vs. angle are also shown. Effect of bicarbonate ions on the copper passivity and its local breakdown is studied by cyclic voltammetry, Auger spectroscopy, x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. Comparing data for solutions with various sodium bicarbonate concentrations shows copper to undergo pitting in 0.02 M NaHCO3, whereas it remains stably passive in 0.10 M NaHCO3. Independent studies suggest that carbonates play a protective role in stabilization of the oxide-hydroxide passive film on copper. 相似文献

Fluorescence quenching of a thioxanthone derivative by methyl- and methoxy-substituted benzenes (MeB and MeOB, respectively) is performed in solvents of different polarity. Emissive exciplexes are observed even in polar solvents and provide kinetic and spectroscopic data over a large scale of solvent polarity. These data were subsequently analyzed by use of a new theoretical model that leads to a thermodynamic relationship between exciplex and electron-transfer driving forces Delta G(exc) and Delta G(et), respectively. The remarkable agreement found between this model and both kinetic and spectroscopic data supports its validity. Moreover, the difference observed between MeB and MeOB compounds in quenching efficiency is analyzed by this model and provides the main parameters governing exciplex features, especially the resonance integral between locally excited and charge-transfer states. 相似文献
