We consider a two-terminal Aharonov-Bohm (AB) interferometer with a quantum dot inserted in one path of the AB ring.
We investigate the transport properties of this system in and out of the Kondo regime. We utilize perturbation theory to
calculate the electron self-energy of the quantum dot with respect to the intradot Coulomb interaction. We show the expression
of the Kondo temperature as a function of the AB phase together with its dependence on other characteristics such as the
linewidth of the ring and the finite Coulomb interaction and the energy levels of the quantum dot. The current oscillates
periodically as a function
of the AB phase. The amplitude of the current oscillation decreases with increasing Coulomb interaction. For a given temperature,
the electron transport through the AB interferometer
can be selected to be in or out of the Kondo regime by changing the magnetic flux threading perpendicular to the AB ring of

We propose a way for determining the generalized coefficients of rigidity – some of which are membrane/bending coupling coefficients – which appear in the deformation energy of the Koiter model of thin shells. This is concerned with a heterogeneous material in the thickness direction. A new program to compute these coefficients is implemented in the finite element code Modulef, in order to simulate problems of thin multilayered shells with linearly elastic anisotropic layers. We present a spatial renormalization group algorithm to handle immiscibletwo-phase flow in heterogeneous porous media. We call this algorithmFRACTAM-R, where FRACTAM is an acronym for Fast Renormalization Algorithmfor Correlated Transport in Anisotropic Media, and the R stands for relativepermeability. Originally, FRACTAM was an approximate iterative process thatreplaces the L × L lattice of grid blocks, representing the reservoir,by a (L/2) × (L/2) one. In fact, FRACTAM replaces the original L× L lattice by a hierarchical (fractal) lattice, in such a way thatfinding the solution of the two-phase flow equations becomes trivial. Thistriviality translates in practice into computer efficiency. For N=L ×L grid blocks we find that the computer time necessary to calculatefractional flow F(t) and pressure P(t) as a function of time scales as N1.7 for FRACTAM-R. This should be contrasted with thecomputational time of a conventional grid simulator N2.3. The solution we find in this way is an accurateapproximation to the direct solution of the original problem. 相似文献

A computer based numerical method is presented for the analysis of water and solute movement in unsaturated heterogeneous porous materials. Such a method is necessary since, for those field studies where solute movement is of concern, the soil profiles under consideration are invariably heterogeneous. The numerical analysis is based on a general one-dimensional finite difference soil water flow model which includes a numerical technique combining the concepts of scale heterogeneity with an interpolative soil water hysteresis model. An explicit finite difference solute movement subroutine is incorporated into the unsaturated flow model to describe the transport of nonreactive solutes. A velocity dependent longitudinal dispersion coefficient is used in the solution of the hydrodynamic dispersion equation. The resulting hysteretic scale heterogeneous solute movement model permits the study of solute dynamics during infiltrating and redistribution in realistically complex spatially varying soil profiles. Results are presented for the leaching of both coarse grading to fine and fine grading to coarse sand profiles. Both vertical and horizontal profiles are studied using either a constant flux or a constant concentration input boundary condition. The four cases studied demonstrate the versatility of the numerical method and emphasise the substantial differences in transport behavior that can arise between heterogeneous and homogeneous profiles.Now with BHP Petroleum Pty. We consider transport of a solute obeying linear kinetic sorption under unsteady flow conditions. The study relies on the
vertical unsaturated flow model developed by Indelman et al. [J. Contam. Hydrol. 32 (1998), 77–97] to account for a cycle of infiltration and redistribution. One of the main features of this type of transport,
as compared with the case of a continuous water infiltration, is the finite depth of solute penetration. In the infiltration
stage an analytical solution that generalizes the previous results of Lassey [Water Resour. Res. 24 (1988), 343–350] and Severino and Indelman [J. Contam. Hydrol. 70 (2004), 89–115] is derived. This solution accounts for quite general initial solute distributions in both the mobile and
immobile concentration. When the redistribution is also considered, two timescales become relevant, namely: (i) the desorption
rate k−1, and (ii) the water application time tap. In particular, we have assumed that the quantity ε =(k tap)−1 can be regarded as a small parameter so that a perturbation analytical solution is obtained. At field-scale the concentration
is calculated by means of the column model of Dagan and Bresler [Soil Sci. Soc. Am. J. 43 (1979), 461–467], i.e. as ensemble average over an infinite series of randomly distributed and uncorrelated soil columns.
It is shown that the heterogeneity of hydraulic properties produces an additional spreading of the plume. An unusual phenomenon
of plume contraction is observed at long times of solute propagation during the drying period. The mean solute penetration
depth is studied with special emphasis on the impact of the variability of the saturated conductivity upon attaining the maximum

The microenvironments of a leucine‐based organogel are probed by monitoring the fluorescence behavior of coumarin 153 (C153) and 4‐aminophthalimide (AP). The steady‐state data reveals distinctly different locations of the two molecules in the gel. Whereas AP resides close to the hydroxyl moieties of the gelator and engages in hydrogen‐bonding interactions, C153 is found in bulk‐toluene‐like regions. In contrast to C153, AP exhibits excitation‐wavelength‐dependent emission, indicating that the environments of the hydrogen‐bonded AP molecules are not all identical. A two‐component fluorescence decay of AP in gel, unlike C153, supports this model. A time‐resolved fluorescence anisotropy study of the rotational motion of the molecules also reveals the strong association of only AP with the gelator. That AP influences the critical gelation concentration implies its direct involvement in the gel‐formation process. The results highlight the importance of guest–gelator interactions in gels containing guest molecules. 相似文献

虽然双系统估计量目前是人口普查质量评估领域估计总体实际人口数的主要方法,但其内在固有的缺陷却依然存在,即由于人口普查与其质量评估调查不独立引起的交互作用偏差使其低估或高估人口数。独立性假设失败源于在普查及其质量评估调查中登记的因果相关性,以及在普查及质量评估调查中登记概率的异质性。Bell模型是当前公认的测算交互作用偏差的有效方法。该方法建立在0-17岁及成年女性的双系统估计值不存在交互作用偏差的假设条件下。利用美国普查局提供的2010年资料全面展示了双系统估计量交互作用偏差的测算过程。实证结果表明,黑人成年男性的双系统估计值存在显著的交互作用偏差。研究有助于我国在未来人口普查质量评估工作中意识到交互作用偏差的存在,把测算的交互作用偏差添加到双系统估计量估计的人口数中,并依据修正后的双系统估计值计算人口普查净误差。 相似文献
