We report results of susceptibility χ and 7Li NMR measurements on LiVSi2O6. The temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility χ(T) exhibits a broad maximum, typical for low-dimensional magnetic
systems. Quantitatively it is in agreement with the expectation for an S=1 spin chain, represented by the structural arrangement
of V ions.
The NMR results indicate antiferromagnetic ordering below TN=24 K. The intra- and interchain coupling J and Jp for LiVSi2O6, and also for its sister compounds LiVGe2O6, NaVSi2O6 and NaVGe2O6, are obtained via a modified random phase approximation which takes into account results of quantum Monte Carlo calculations.
While Jp is almost constant across the series, J varies by a factor of 5, decreasing with increasing lattice constant along the chain
direction. The comparison between experimental and theoretical susceptibility data suggests the presence of an easy-axis magnetic
anisotropy, which explains the formation of an energy gap in the magnetic excitation spectrum below TN, indicated by the variation of the NMR spin-lattice relaxation rate at T≪TN. 相似文献

The structural stability and magnetic properties of the icosahedral Ni13, Ni13^+1 and Ni13^-1 clusters have been obtained by utilizing all-electron density functional theory with the generalized gradient approximations for the exchange-correlation energy. The calculated results show that the ground states of neutral and charged clusters all favour a D3d structure, a distorted icosahedron, due to the Jahn-Teller effect. The radial distortions caused by doping one electron and by doping one hole are opposite to each other. Doping one electron will result in a 1/2 decrease and doping one hole will result in a 1/2 increase of the total spin. Both increasing interatomic spacing and decreasing coordination will lead to an enhancement of the spin magnetic moments for Nil3 clusters. 相似文献

Nanoparticles and nanorods of CuSb2O6 are prepared by hydrothermal method and its high temperature α-phase is stabilized at room temperature. The average size

composing of smaller nanoparticles with an average size of ca. 8.3 nm. Compared with the high temperature α-phase of bulk

A theoretical study, within the effective-mass approximation, of the
effects of applied magnetic fields on excitons in disk-shaped
GaAs-Ga1-xAlxAs quantum dots is presented. Magnetic fields
are applied in the growth direction of the semiconductor
heterostructure. The parity of the excitonic envelope function
related to the simultaneous exchange of ze→-ze and
zh→-zh is a good quantum number and the wave
function, both the odd and even parity, can be expanded as
combination of products of the quantum well electron and hole
function that preserves the parity with appropriate Gaussian
functions. We have simultaneously obtained the energies of the
excitonic ground and excited states and discuss the behavior of

The longitudinal ultrasonic attenuation measurements have been made using pulse echo method at fundamental frequencies of 2, 4, 6 and 8 MHz in 20WO3–(80−x) TeO2–xPbO ternary tellurite glasses (x=10, 12.5, 15, 17.5 and 20 mol%) in the temperature range 160–280 K. The results showed the presence of a broad peak which shifts to higher temperature with increasing frequency. The ultrasonic attenuation peaks suggest that the experimental behavior is controlled by thermally activated structural relaxations. The internal friction, acoustic activation energy, deformation potential, relaxation strength, number of loss centers and density of state have been calculated both as a function of temperature and PbO content. The acoustic activation energy was found to decrease from 0.156 to 0.135 eV with the increase of PbO content. The results showed that both the number of loss centers and their activation energy decrease with the atomic ring size. An increase in the density of state is observed with addition of PbO content at the same frequency in the whole range of temperature which is associated with structural units formed when PbO is added. 相似文献
