Onm-dependence and Edgeworth expansions

This paper contains two results. The first establishes, under mild assumptions, the validity of an Edgeworth expansion with remaindero(N ^–1/2) for aU-statistic with a kernel of degree two using observations from anm-dependent shift. The second result gives a necessary and sufficient condition for the distribution of a sum ofm-dependent random variables to possess an Edgeworth expansion. This generalizes a result of Bickel and Robinson from the i.i.d. case to them-dependent case.This research was supported in part by National Science Foundation, Grant DMS 89-23071.     

Symbolic evaluation of coefficients in Airy-type asymptotic expansions

Computer algebra algorithms are developed for evaluating the coefficients in Airy-type asymptotic expansions that are obtained from integrals with a large parameter. The coefficients are defined from recursive schemes obtained from integration by parts. An application is given for the Weber parabolic cylinder function.     

A local error estimate of the method of multi-scale asymptotic expansions for elliptic problems with rapidly oscillatory coefficients

In this paper, on basis of [O.A. Oleinik, A.S. Shamaev, G.A. Yosifian, Mathematical Problems in Elasticity and Homogenization, North-Holland, Amsterdam, 1992], we present a local error estimate of the method of multi-scale asymptotic expansions for second order elliptic problems with rapidly oscillatory coefficients.     

Vector sampling expansions in shift invariant subspaces

Multi-input multi-output (MIMO) sampling scheme which is motivated by applications in multi-channel deconvolution and multi-source separation has been investigated in many aspects. Common for most of results on MIMO systems is that the input signals are supposed to be band-limited. In this paper, we study vector sampling expansions on general finitely generated shift-invariant subspaces. Necessary and sufficient conditions for a vector sampling theorem to hold are given. We also give several examples to illustrate the main result.     

Perturbation expansions for quantum many-body systems

A systematic method for developing high-order, zero-temperature perturbation expansions for quantum many-body systems is presented. The models discussed explicitly are spin models with a variety of interactions, in one and two dimensions. The wide applicability of the method is illustrated by expansions around Hamiltonians with ordered and disordered ground states, namely Ising and dimerized models. Computer implementation of this method is discussed in great detail. Some previously unpublished series are tabulated.     

Hyperasymptotic evaluation of the Pearcey integral via Hadamard expansions

We describe high-precision computations of the Pearcey integral Pe(x,y) for real x and y by means of Hadamard expansions. Numerical results for (x,y) situated in different regions of the x,y-plane are given to illustrate the levels of precision that can be achieved. Particular emphasis is given to computation in the neighbourhood of the two cusped curves associated with Pe(x,y) across which there is either a coalescence of saddles or a Stokes phenomenon.     

电感耦合等离子体CVD低温生长硅薄膜过程中的铝诱导晶化

利用电感耦合等离子体CVD方法在350℃的低温下在镀Al玻璃衬底上制备出具有良好结晶性的Si薄膜.利用x射线衍射、紫外-可见分光椭圆偏振谱、原子力显微镜及x射线光电子谱等研究了薄膜的结构、表面形貌和成分分布等.结果表明，用这种方法制备的Si薄膜不但晶化程度高，而且具有良好的（111）结晶取向性，晶粒尺寸大于300nm，样品中无Al的残留.结合电感耦合等离子体的高电子密度特征讨论了低温生长过程中Al诱导Si薄膜晶化的机理. 关键词： 电感耦合等离子体CVD Al诱导晶化 Si薄膜 低温生长     

Free Vibration Analysis of Rotating Nonlinearly Elastic Structures with Symmetry: An Efficient Group-Equivariance Approach

A study is made of the dynamics of oscillating systems with a slowly varying parameter. A slowly varying forcing periodically crosses a critical value corresponding to a pitchfork bifurcation. The instantaneous phase portrait exhibits a centre when the forcing does not exceed the critical value, and a saddle and two centres with an associated double homoclinic loop separatrix beyond this value. The aim of this study is to construct a Poincaré map in order to describe the dynamics of the system as it repeatedly crosses the bifurcation point. For that purpose averaging methods and asymptotic matching techniques connecting local solutions are applied. Given the initial state and the values of the parameters the properties of the Poincaré map can be studied. Both sensitive dependence on initial conditions and (quasi) periodicity are observed. Moreover, Lyapunov exponents are computed. The asymptotic expressions for the Poincaré map are compared with numerical solutions of the full system that includes small damping.     

论粘性激波层理论的理论基础及其进一步发展

本文将Davis的量级分析方法改用匹配渐近展开方法,作为一级近似推导出了高超音速化学反应粘性激波层方程。证明了粘性激波层方程是NS方程在匹配渐近意义上的一级近似方程。进一步讨论了这一方程的基本假设条件。本文首次推导出的二级近似方程,是对Davis粘性激波层方程的修正。这种修正可以提高数值解的精度,有助于对问题获得更全面的了解,对进一步发展与完善高超音速钝头体绕流问题的数值求解方法起一定的作用。     

Complete Asymptotic Expansions of Solutions of the System of Elastostatics in the Presence of an Inclusion of Small Diameter and Detection of an Inclusion

We consider the system of elastostatics for an elastic medium consisting of an imperfection of small diameter, embedded in a homogeneous reference medium. The Lamé constants of the imperfection are different from those of the background medium. We establish a complete asymptotic formula for the displacement vector in terms of the reference Lamé constants, the location of the imperfection and its geometry. Our derivation is rigorous, and based on layer potential techniques. The asymptotic expansions in this paper are valid for an elastic imperfection with Lipschitz boundaries. In the course of derivation of the asymptotic formula, we introduce the concept of (generalized) elastic moment tensors (Pólya–Szegö tensor) and prove that the first order elastic moment tensor is symmetric and positive (negative)-definite. We also obtain estimation of its eigenvalue. We then apply these asymptotic formulas for the purpose of identifying with high precision the order of magnitude of the diameter of the elastic inclusion, its location, and its elastic moment tensors.
