The extinction spectrum of single silver nanoparticles
with size ranging from 20 to 80 nm is investigated with the spatial
modulation spectroscopy technique using either a tunable laser or a white
lamp as the broadband source. Results are in good agreement with the
prediction of the Mie theory, permitting to extract the nanoparticle size
from the measured absolute value of the optical extinction cross-section. In
contrast, the deduced refractive index of the nanoparticle environment and
the reduction of the electron mean free path show a large dependence on the
precise value of the bulk silver dielectric function. 相似文献

We have performed the optical and photoelectron
spectroscopic studies of alkyl-passivated Si nanoparticles synthesized by a
solution route. The alkyl-passivated Si nanoparticle with mean diameter less
than about 2 nm exhibits a strong ultraviolet-blue photoluminescence.
Furthermore, we have directly investigated their electronic structures in
the vicinity of Fermi level by means of valence-band photoemission
measurements using synchrotron radiation. From these results, the detailed
optical properties and electronic structures of alkyl-passivated Si

Single crystals of Te-doped dichalcogenides 2H-NbSe2-xTex (x ---- 0, 0.10, 0.20) were grown by vapour transport method. The effect of Te doping on the superconducting and charge-density wave (CDW) transitions has been investigated. The sharp decrease of residual resistance ratio, RRR = R(3OOK)/R(SK), with increasing Te content was observed, indicating that the disorder in the conducting plane is induced by Te doping. Meanwhile the superconducting transition temperature, Tc, decreases monotonically with Te content. However, the CDW transition temperature, TCDW, shown by a small jump in the temperature dependence of the resistivity near 30 K, increases slightly. The results show that the suppression of superconductivity might be caused by the enhancement of CDW ordering. The disorder has little influence on the CDW ordering. 相似文献

We investigate the construction of low-dimensional spatiallylocalized models of extended systems. Specifically, theKuramoto–Sivashinsky (KS) equation on large one-dimensional domainsdisplays spatiotemporally complex dynamics that are remarkablywell-localized in both real and Fourier space, as demonstrated by a(spline) wavelet representation. We show how wavelet projectionsmay be used to construct various localized, relativelylow-dimensional models of KS spatiotemporal chaos. There ispersuasive evidence that short, periodized systems, internally forcedat their largest scales, form minimal models for chaotic dynamics inarbitrarily large domains. The full geometrical symmetry groups (the line groups) of the monolayered, 2Hb and 3R polytypes of the inorganic MoS2 and WS2 micro- and nanotubes of arbitrary chirality are found. This is used to find the coordinates of the representative atoms sufficient
to determine completely the geometrical structure of the tubes. Then some physical properties which can be deduced from the
symmetry are discussed: electron band degeneracies, selection rules, general forms of the second rank tensors and potentials,
phonon spectra.

Magnetooptical studies performed on a wide InGaAs/GaAs single quantum well indicate that optically non-active (dark) excitons
with total angular momentum play the role of a reservoir for the creation of free multiparticle excitonic complexes. After analyzing the magnetic field
evolution of the circularly polarized components of the low energy structure appearing in the main excitonic luminescence
line we assign this feature to the excitonic trion formation. The binding energy of the excitonic trions was estimated to
be of the order of 1 meV.

The magnetic dipole (M1) and electric quadupole (E2) responses of two-dimensional quantum dots with an elliptic shape are
theoretically investigated as a function of the dot deformation and applied static magnetic field. Neglecting the electron-electron
interaction we obtain analytical results which indicate the existence of four characteristic modes, with different B-dispersion of their energies and associated strengths. Interaction effects are numerically studied within the time-dependent
local-spin-density and Hartree approximations, assessing the validity of the non-interacting picture.

We report on new features in the photoluminescence excitation (PLE) spectra and PLE linear polarization spectra of GaAs/AlAs lateral superlattices grown by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). These lines appear systematically as the tilt angle of the lateral superlattice is varied. They are identified as zone–edge excitonic transitions by comparison between experimental data and detailed numerical calculations of optical transitions including valence-band mixing and tilt effects. 相似文献
