Characterization and estimation of refractive index profile of laser-written photopolymer optical waveguides

In this study, channel waveguides fabricated in photopolymer films by direct-writing using a low-power CW laser, are used as phase objects in a simple plane-wave diffraction setup, and the refractive index modulation profiles of the waveguides are characterized using the recorded diffraction patterns. Index profiles are modeled by piece-wisely combining two Gaussian functions representing the central and the tail regions. Measured diffraction patterns are matched with patterns generated using the model. This simple model makes it possible to design various channel waveguides embedded into polymer substrates. The proposed model is tested on three distinctive waveguide profiles written on the same Acrylamide/Polyvinyl Alcohol based photopolymer with different exposures.     

Modal analysis and cutoff frequencies of a doubly clad plasma loaded waveguide having a lemniscates of Bernoulli-type core cross-section

The modal dispersion characteristics of EM waves in a new unconventional plasma loaded doubly clad waveguide having a shape of the lemniscates of Bernoulli-type core cross-section have been studied analytically. The proposed waveguide has three parts namely the core with slighter high index, the inner cladding with plasma and the outer cladding with air. Now using the necessary orthogonal coordinates for the proposed structure and imposing the boundary conditions under the weak guidance condition, the modal characteristics equation has been obtained considering variations in plasma width and plasma frequency, the dispersion curves and cutoff frequencies have been obtained and presented in this paper. It is noted that as the width of plasma layer increases, the cutoff frequency also increases considerably in all considered cases. This shows that using plasma width as a new parameter we can control any particular mode on our wish.     

微环耦合谐振光波导中的色散控制模型与数值仿真

本文利用传输矩阵法得到了微环耦合谐振光波导的色散关系,讨论了耦合损耗、传输损耗及耦合系数对微环耦合谐振光波导色散的影响,改变耦合损耗、传输损耗及耦合系数可控制其色散曲线的形状、位置、以及带宽,色散曲线的变化及控制对微环耦合谐振光波导在滤波、光信号延迟及缓存等方面的应用有重要意义. 关键词： 光波导 微环光波导 传输矩阵法     

光子晶体定向耦合三波长功分器

以二维三角晶格光子晶体为研究对象,在该光子晶体中引入两行以一行耦合介质柱为间距的平行单模线缺陷波导.通过分析和研究光子晶体波导耦合结构的耦合和解耦合特性,发现在不同频率下耦合波导的耦合长度不同.利用平面波展开法和定向耦合原理计算了在不同入射光频率下,缺陷波导间耦合波导的耦合长度,设计了一种新型超微光子晶体波导耦合型三波长功分器,实现了归一化频率分别为0.369、0.394、0.435的光波的分束效果.采用时域有限差分法验证了该功分器具有很好的功率分配效果.本文结果有助于光子晶体新型滤波器、定向耦合器、波分复用器、偏振光分束器以及光开关等光子器件的研究.     

Magnetically controllable resonance splitting in a unidirectional waveguide system with coupled cavities

A resonance splitting effect is investigated in a system composed of two cavities coupled by two unidirectional waveguides. Both theoretical analysis and numerical calculations demonstrate that the resonance splitting (indicating a coupling between the cavities) is independent of the phase shift between the cavities, which is in contrast to previous research where reciprocal waveguides are used. Moreover, this splitting can be tunable by an external magnetic field. Our findings offer a possibility to realize effective coupling between remote on‐chip resonators, which is highly demanded in the next‐generation photonic circuits.

     

用有效折射率／有限元法设计1．55μmTi：LiNbO_3单模条波导及其方向耦合器

应用有效折射率／有限元法（ＥＩ－ＦＥＭ），考虑到ＬｉＮｂＯ３晶体和Ｔｉ扩散的各向异性，折射率增量与寻常光、非寻常光及波长色散的关系，设计了１．５５μｍ光波长下工作的ｚ切ｙ传播Ｔｉ：ＬｉＮｂＯ３单模条波导的制备参数，计算和分析了其单模特性、模式场分布及其变化规律．扩展了ＥＩ－ＦＥＭ，将其用于求解耦合波导系统，确定了方向耦合器的耦合长度及其波长色散特性．     

An improved theory of microwave open resonators

The analytic theory of microwave open resonators is improved here by means of solving the complex Airy equation, that the Q-value as well as the argument of field profile may be given accurately. The resonance conditions for open cavities with high and moderate Q-values are derived analytically. Theoreticl Q-values are well agreed with the measured ones from experiments.     

制备多模聚硅氧烷光波导关键技术的改进

本文利用浇铸法,使用M&N胶和OE6450两种聚硅氧烷制备光波导.通过改进制备光波导的多个关键技术, 解决了波导制备过程中的气泡问题、脱模问题、芯层不固化问题、芯层和覆盖层产生化学反应等难题,提出了 比较完备和科学的聚硅氧烷波导制备工艺流程,从而使得波导的制备成品率从原来低于40%提高到高于80%, 波导的最大长度从原来的21 cm增加到22.5 cm,波导的损耗(截断法测量结果)从最初的0.3dB/cm(850 nm)降低到了 0.21dB/cm(850nm).本文在波导制备技术方面具有重要的实际意义和价值.     

Ti：LiNbO3光波导导模的场分布

给出了Ti扩散LiNbO_3条波导任意阶导模场分布的试探解.通过变分法分析,不但可以合理地确定其中的待定参数,而且也得到了相应导模传播常数的近似值.与扩展的有效折射率方法比较:这种解不但在函数形式上简单,待定常数确定方便,而且具有精度高的优点.还可以得到等效一维波导折射率分布的解析表达式.     

Ti扩散铌酸锂光波导特性的热固定技术

在Ti扩散铌酸锂光波导中,因光致折变效应而导致光波导特性漂移.在光波相干性的导波光学器件中,光致折变效应的影响尤为严重.本文报道了稳定光致折变效应的热固定技术实验结果;并提出在光波导特性的热固定过程中,不是H~+离子起主导作用这一看法.
