The near-IR spectroscopy method of control of the octane number (o.n.) of a fuel is studied. An analysis is made of a device
developed as an alternative of a measuring system based on a nonselective IR radiation source and of an analyzer based on
a laser semiconductor diode. It is shown that the use of the methods of multicomponent regression analysis of spectral data
allows measurement of the octane number with an accuracy of S ∼ 0.17 octane number units. The characteristics of the semiconductor
laser-based analyzer are investigated and the parameters of radiators are discussed that provide the required sensitivity
of the measuring system (up to 10−4 with respect to optical absorption) in controlling the octane number of a fucl.

Laser nitriding and laser cementation are investigated by Mössbauer spectroscopy and complementary methods. It is demonstrated how the backscattering versions of Conversion Electron and Conversion X-ray Mössbauer spectroscopy can contribute to the investigation of surface processes, like the laser-induced formation of nitrides and carbides. Additionally, the formation of semiconducting iron disilicide can be achieved by ion-beam mixing and pulsed laser irradiation of Fe/Si bilayers. The results of both processes are compared.

The surgical management of bilateral vocal cord paralysis has been performed through an endoscope in the past. The etiology of bilateral vocal cord paralysis is usually secondary to trauma; to secure an adequate airway, a tracheostomy is performed. Endoscopic laser arytenoidectomy offers a safe method of decannulating patients with maintenance of good voice quality and a rima glottidis of 4–6 mm posteriorly. Several wavelengths are available to carry out this procedure, and this article will focus on Nd:Yag laser scalpel applications. The advantage of this method is the preservation of good voice quality with an option of an external procedure, if the need arises. The laser application offers excellent hemostasis, and decreased edema and scar tissue formation. The results of our study on 10 patients appear encouraging and superior with respect to other available wavelengths. 相似文献

In the slant scanning method of multiple beams a misalignment of the slant angle causes a beam spacing error and pitch irregularities
of scan lines called “banding”. This paper evaluates the pitch irregularities and tries to clarify the allowable beam spacing
error. The following results are obtained: (1) The maximum spacing error of print lines is proportional to m/(dpi), where m is the number of multiple beams and dpi print dot density. (2) The noticeable limit of periodic variations of print density
at low spatial frequency was presumed to be a visibility between 1 and 2% in experiments. (3) The allowable beam spacing error
was calculated introducing the human eye spatial frequency response. (4) The banding simulation experiments by laser recording

This paper demonstrates the application of the topology optimization method as a general and systematic approach for microfluidic mixer design. The mixing process is modeled as convection dominated transport in low Reynolds number incompressible flow. The mixer performance is maximized by altering the layout of flow/non‐flow regions subject to a constraint on the pressure drop between inlet and outlet. For a square cross‐sectioned pipe the mixing is increased by 70% compared with a straight pipe at the cost of a 2.5 fold increase in pressure drop. Another example where only the bottom profile of the channel is a design domain results in intricate herring bone patterns that confirm findings from the literature. Passively Q-switched microchip lasers generate strongly pulsating intensity oscillations that emerge from a Hopf bifurcation point. We show that this bifurcation is nearly vertical and explain why strongly pulsating oscillations are immediately observed as we pass the Hopf bifurcation point. The laser dynamical problem is mathematically a singular perturbation problem which we investigate. The leading order problem is conservative and corresponds to Lotka–Volterra equations. 相似文献
