A compact ultrafast terahertz (CUTE) free-electron laser (FEL) is being developed at the Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT), Indore. The undulator required for the CUTE-FEL has recently been developed. We have designed, built and characterized a variable gap, 5 cm period, 2.5 m long pure permanent magnet undulator in two identical segments. The tolerable error in the magnetic field was 1% in rms, and we have measured it to be 0.7%. The obtained rms phase shake is around 2°. To ensure that the trajectories do not have an exit error in position or angle, corrector coils have been designed. Shimming coils have been applied for both the undulator segments to reduce the amplitude of the betatron oscillations in the vertical trajectory. Details of novel corrector coils and soft iron shims are given and their performance is discussed.   相似文献

Temporal and spatial analysis of dynamics of hybrid transversely excited atmospheric pressure (TEA)–CO2 lasers is studied using two different models with four and eight energy levels. These models are used for simulation of the laser and computing the output energy. 微谐振腔模式特性研究是利用微腔研制新型光电器件的基础.为了研制出能采用平面工艺制作的定向输出的微腔激光器,文章采用解析和数值模拟方法深入研究了正三角形及正方形光学微腔的模式特性,并得到与数值模拟结果符合非常好的解析场分布及模式波长.对正方形光学微腔,把模式组合成满足正方形对称性的场分布,发现其类WG模式只存在品质因子比它小一个数量级以上的偶然简并模式,因此正方形微腔有利于实现真正的单模工作.  相似文献

非微扰量子电动力学的发展使我们可以利用精确的波函数和非微扰的散射理论来研究多光子电离问题.文章作者及其合作者发展了光电子角分布的处理方法,利用复合相位Bessel函数来表征光电子的跃迁几率幅,将光电子的角分布与复合相位Bessel函数直接联系起来.研究发现,复合相位Bessel函数的性质决定了光电子角分布的主要特点及其随激光强度、频率以及光电子能量的演化.该理论不但证实了实验上已经观测到的各种光电子角分布,而且还预言了实验上尚未观测到的光电子角分布,确立了光电子角分布的标度定律.  相似文献

Since 1997 we systematically perform direct angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) on in-situ grown thin (<30 nm) cuprate films. Specifically, we probe low-energy electronic structure and properties of high-T c superconductors (HTSC) under different degrees of epitaxial (compressive vs. tensile) strain. In overdoped and underdoped in-plane compressed (the strain is induced by the choice of substrate) ≈15 nm thin La2 − x Sr x CuO4 (LSCO) films we almost double T c to 40 K, from 20 K and 24 K, respectively. Yet the Fermi surface (FS) remains essentially two-dimensional. In contrast, ARPES data under tensile strain exhibit the dispersion that is three-dimensional, yet T c drastically decreases. It seems that the in-plane compressive strain tends to push the apical oxygen far away from the CuO2 plane, enhances the two-dimensional character of the dispersion and increases T c, while the tensile strain acts in the opposite direction and the resulting dispersion is three-dimensional. We have established the shape of the FS for both cases, and all our data are consistent with other ongoing studies, like EXAFS. As the actual lattice of cuprates is like a ‘Napoleon-cake’, i.e. rigid CuO2 planes alternating with softer ‘reservoir’, that distort differently under strain, our data rule out all oversimplified two-dimensional (rigid lattice) mean field models. The work is still in progress on optimized La-doped Bi-2201 films with enhanced T c.   相似文献

Thin surface layers consisting of nano-crystalline and amorphous phases on the surface of stainless steel have been attained under the Nd:YAG pulsed laser irradiation. The phases and microstructures were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and high resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM). The phase compositions of the surface determined by XRD were α-Fe (ferrite) and γ-Fe (austenite) or only γ-Fe in the near surface region on the bases of the different laser power densities. The nano-crystalline grains with sizes of 4-100 nm could result from high cooling rate and crystallization in amorphous region by homogeneous and heterogeneous nucleation. The formation of the amorphous phase was attributed to the higher cooling rates.  相似文献

Using high-resolution atomic force microscope we observed in ambient atmosphere the slow morphological transitions of the incipient adlayer of gold grown on (0 0 0 1) sapphire substrate by pulsed laser deposition. The equivalent average uniform thickness of the gold deposition was about 0.55 Å, which is about one-fourth of its monolayer. A dynamic simulation revealed that about 10% of the gold was implanted into the substrate up to the depth of about 3.3 nm and the top monolayer of the sapphire surface was almost completely depleted of oxygen atoms due to the preferential sputtering by the plume particles. The gold adlayer transformed into a labile phase which enhanced the surface roughness and had a preferred orientation of a wavy structure during 24 h of the deposition. The auto-correlation function of this wavy structure in labile metastable phase revealed two-fold symmetry and provided a preferential size of about 4 nm (peak to peak) with a mean separation of 8 nm. At the end of about 6 days this phase was found to completely transform into an apparently de-wetted phase of beads with average in-plane diameter of ∼20 nm and height of ∼7 nm having large size distribution. Each bead was seen to have coating of a concentric corona layer, which might be that of the condensed moisture or other gaseous species from atmosphere because subjecting these samples to vacuum removed this layer. These observations shed light on the dynamics of the pulsed laser deposited metastable gold adlayer in the incipient stage of its growth on sapphire and their wetting or de-wetting mechanisms in ambient atmosphere.  相似文献

This review summarizes the use of photoreactions that replace conventional heating processes for growing oxide thin films from chemical solutions. In particular, this review outlines key variables in photoreactions that affect epitaxial and polycrystalline thin film growth, including precursor materials, laser wavelength, laser fluence, and carbon. In addition, the features of the photoreaction process that can be controlled at a low temperature by oxygen non-stoichiometry are examined. Likewise, functions that are neither achieved by developing a gradient structure nor controlled by a thermal equilibrium reaction are detailed. Two new concepts are presented, known as photoreaction of nanoparticles (PRNP) and photoreaction of a hybrid solutions (PRHS), in which crystal nuclei are pre-dispersed in a metal–organic compound film. This method has successfully produced flexible phosphor films used as resistor or thermistor electronic components. Finally, thin film growth using different light sources such as flash lamps and femtosecond lasers (fs) is explored.  相似文献
