The paper examines scalar advection caused by a point–vortex pair encountering a fixed point vortex in a uniform flow. The interaction produces two types of vortex motion. First is unbounded as the pair moves unrestrictedly after encountering the fixed vortex. The scalar exchanging between the pair's bubble and fixed vortex's neighbourhood is numerically estimated. Second is bounded as the pair's vortices periodically oscillate about the fixed vortex. The pair's periodic motion perturbs scalar motion causing a portion of scalar trajectories to manifest chaotic behaviour. Propagation dynamics of the cosh-Airy vortex(CAiV) beams in a chiral medium is investigated analytically with Huygens–Fresnel diffraction integral formula. The results show that the CAiV beams are split into the left circularly polarized vortex(LCPV) beams and the right circularly polarized vortex(RCPV) beams with different propagation trajectories in the chiral medium. We mainly investigate the effect of the cosh parameter on the propagation process of the CAiV beams.The propagation characteristics, including intensity distribution, propagation trajectory, peak intensity, main lobe's intensity, Poynting vector, and angular momentum are discussed in detail. We find that the cosh parameter affects the intensity distribution of the CAiV beams but not its propagation trajectory. As the cosh parameter increases, the distribution areas of the LCPV and RCPV beams become wider, and the side lobe's intensity and peak intensity become larger. Besides, the main lobe's intensity of the LCPV and RCPV beams increase with the increase of the cosh parameter at a farther propagation distance, which is confirmed by the variation trend of the Poynting vector. It is significant that we can vary the cosh parameter to control the intensity distribution, main lobe's intensity, and peak intensity of the CAiV beams without changing the propagation trajectory. Our results may provide some support for applications of the CAiV beams in optical micromanipulation. 相似文献

By using a model Hamiltonian with competing antiferromagnetic (AFM) spin density wave (SDW) and d-wave
superconductivity orders, the effect of next-nearest-neighbour (nnn)
hopping on spin and charge structures in high-temperature
superconductors is investigated at finite temperatures. For an
optimally doped sample, we find that the AFM order magnitude in the
vortex core is firstly enhanced and then suppressed, accompanied
with a ``positively → negatively → positively" charged vortex structure transition with increasing nnn
hopping strength, which implies that the AFM order is unnecessarily
bounded to an electron-rich vortex core. In addition, a charge
ordering pattern with four negatively charged peaks localized in a
small region is also found around the vortex core centre without net
charge. Recent scanning-tunneling-microscopy experimental
observations of the checkerboard structure are hopefully

Using the extended Huygens-Fresnel principle and the quadratic approximation of the phase structure function, and taking the Gaussian Schell-model (GSM) vortex beam as a typical example of partially coherent vortex beams, the explicit expressions for the cross-spectral density function and average intensity of GSM vortex beams with topological charge m=+1 propagating through slant atmospheric turbulence are derived, and used to study the propagation properties of GSM vortex beams in atmospheric turbulence along a slant path and evolution behavior of coherence vortices. It is shown that the spreading of GSM vortex beams along a horizontal path is larger than that along a slant path in the long atmospheric propagation. The propagation through horizontal atmospheric turbulence can be treated as a special case of the altitude-independent structure constant. The position of coherence vortices in slant atmospheric turbulence does not coincide with that in horizontal atmospheric turbulence, and the dependence of position of coherence vortices on the zenith angle, wavelength and reference point is illustrated by numerical examples. By expanding the Debye theory into the tight focusing of partially coherent field, the intensity and spatial correlation properties of partially coherent radially polarized vortex beams are studied. Expressions are derived for the intensity distribution and the spectral degree of coherence in the focal region. It is found that the intensity and the transverse and longitudinal coherence degrees in the focal region change with the variation of the topological charge and coherence length of the vortex beam. In addition, the degree of coherence is shown to exhibit phase singularities. 相似文献
