Low-lying states of 6He studied via the 6Li(t,3He)6He reaction

We present the recent experimental results on the ⁶He structure studied by the ⁶Li(t, ³He)⁶He reaction at 336 MeV. Above the conspicuous peaks for ground and first excited states for ⁶He, we have observed a broad structures at E _x∼ 5 MeV, and E _x∼ 15 MeV. The angular distribution of this structure exhibits the dominance of a ΔL = 1 transition, indicating the existence of intruder dipole states at low excitation energies in ⁶He. A slight admixture of positive-parity states in this structure has been indicated as well. Received: 1 May 2001 / Accepted: 4 December 2001     

The Hadamard Theorem and Borel–Carathéodory Theorem on Riemann Surfaces

二维正方各向异性碲圆柱光子晶体完全禁带中缺陷模的FDTD计算分析和设计

用FDTD方法计算了二维正方晶胞各向异性碲圆柱光子晶体的点缺陷模.为了得到TE,TM模式在完全禁带中具有相同共振频率的缺陷模,对中心点缺陷半径Rd以及中心附近对称位置的点缺陷半径Rn做了一系列微调.计算表明,TM模对于Rn的变化不敏感,而TE模随着Rn的改变出现了明显的规则的移动趋势.通过计算分析,发现对应于f=0.4的背景(R=0.3568a),当Rd=0.55a,Rn=0.26a时在完全禁带中TE和TM的缺陷模具有相同的共振频率ω0=0.2466ωe(其中ωe=2πca,a为晶格常数) 关键词： 时域有限差分法 光子晶体 缺陷模 各向异性     

高功率微波高斯馈源口面场分析

 用波导本征模展开方法对用于高功率微波发射系统的方角锥高斯馈源口面场进行分析，提出结合馈源远场辐射特性和避免高功率击穿折衷选定相应的高斯模注腰半径，进而确定多个波导模幅值，从而为运用模匹配或耦合波理论设计高斯馈源提供依据。     

Minimax Results and Finite-Dimensional Separation

In this paper, we review and unify some classes of generalized convex functions introduced by different authors to prove minimax results in infinite-dimensional spaces and show the relations between these classes. We list also for the most general class already introduced by Jeyakumar (Ref. 1) an elementary proof of a minimax result. The proof of this result uses only a finite-dimensional separa- tion theorem; although this minimax result was already presented by Neumann (Ref. 2) and independently by Jeyakumar (Ref. 1), we believe that the present proof is shorter and more transparent.     

Reductions of interval noncooperative games

Noncooperative games of a finite number of persons with interval-valued payoff functions are considered. The concept of an equilibrium situation is introduced. A reduction of such games to deterministic noncooperative games is proposed. Properties of the reduced games are discussed. Interval antagonistic and bimatrix games are examined, and illustrative examples are considered.     

Necessary and sufficient conditions in constrained optimization

Additional conditions are attached to the Kuhn-Tucker conditions giving a set of conditions which are both necessary and sufficient for optimality in constrained optimization, under appropriate constraint qualifications. Necessary and sufficient conditions are also given for optimality of the dual problem. Duality and converse duality are treated accordingly.     

THE DESIGNS OF HIGH EFFICIENCY LAUNCHER OF QUASI-OPTICAL MODE CONVERTER FOR HIGH POWER GYROTRONS

A high efficiency launcher of quasi-optical (QO) mode converters for high power gyrotrons have been designed and tested. A helical cut launcher radiates the RF power via its straight cut onto the first phase correcting mirror. The launchers have been optimized for the TE_31.8 mode at 170 GHz and TE_22.6 mode at 110 GHz by numerically optimizing a launcher surface. The helical cut of the launcher has been optimized by taking the taper angle into account. Further more, the amplitude of the surface perturbation have been optimized for improved focusing in order to reduce the diffraction losses at the helical cut. Low power measurement shows a good agreement with the design. High efficiency characteristics of the design have also been calculated on the assumption of frequency downshift due to the thermal expansion of the cavity and stepwise frequency tuning by changing the operating mode. Besides, the possibility of high efficiency launcher for higher mode is discussed, and these results give the prospect to high efficiency long pulse gyrotrons.     

Convex dominates concave: An exclusion principle in discrete-time Kolmogorov systems

We establish an exclusion principle in discrete-time Kolmogorov systems by using average Liapunov functions. The exclusion principle shows that a weakly dominant species with a convex logarithmic growth rate function eliminates species with concave logarithmic growth rate functions. A general result is applied to specific population models. This application gives an improved exclusion principle for the specific population models.

     

Optimal pricing for a heterogeneous portfolio for a given risk factor and convex distance measure

Consider a portfolio containing heterogeneous risks. The premiums of the policyholders might not cover the amount of the payments which an insurance company pays the policyholders. When setting the premium, this risk has to be taken into consideration. On the other hand the premium that the insured pays has to be fair. This fairness is measured by a function of the difference between the risk and the premium paid—we call this function a distance function. For a given small probability of insolvency, we find the premium for each class, such that the distance function is minimized. Next we formulate and solve the dual problem, which is minimizing the insolvency probability under the constraint that the distance function does not exceed a given level. This paper generalizes a previous paper [Zaks, Y., Frostig, E., Levikson, B., 2006. Optimal pricing of a heterogeneous portfolio for a given risk level. Astin Bull. 36 (1), 161–185] where only a square distance function was considered.
