Designing a majorization scheme for the recourse function in two-stage stochastic linear programming

We discuss issues pertaining to the domination from above of the second-stage recourse function of a stochastic linear program and we present a scheme to majorize this function using a simpler sublinear function. This majorization is constructed using special geometrical attributes of the recourse function. The result is a proper, simplicial function with a simple characterization which is well-suited for calculations of its expectation as required in the computation of stochastic programs. In this paper an algorithm is developed to generate all nondominated extreme points and edges of the set of objective values of a multiple objective linear program. The approach uses simplex tableaux but avoids generating unnecessary extreme points or bases of extreme points. The procedure is based on, and improves, an algorithm Dauer and Liu developed for this problem. Essential to this approach is the work of Gal and Kruse on the neighborhood problem of determining all extreme points of a convex polytope that are adjacent to a given (degenerate) extreme point of the set. The algorithm will incorporate Gal's degeneracy graph approach to the neighborhood problem with Dauer's objective space analysis of multiple objective linear programs. 相似文献

The complex Young's modulus, E*(ω), and the complex strain-optical coefficient, O*(ω), which is the ratio of the birefringence to the strain, were measured for polyisoprene (PIP) over a frequency range of 1 ~ 130 Hz and a temperature range of 22 ~ ?100°C. The imaginary part of O*, O″, was positive at low frequencies and negative at high frequencies. The real part, O′, was always positive and showed a maximum. The complicated behavior of O* could be understood by the assumption that E* = ER* + EG* and O* = CRER* + CGEG*, where ER* and EG* were complex quantities and CR and CG were constants. The CR value, equal to the ordinary stress-optical coefficient measured in the rubbery plateau zone, was 2.0 × 10?9 Pa?1. The CG value, defined as the ratio O″/E″ in the glassy zone, was ?1.1 × 10?11 Pa?1. The EG*, which was the major component of E* in the glassy zone, showed almost the same frequency dependence as that of polystyrene and polycarbonate. The ER*, which was dominant in the rubbery zone, was described well by the bead-spring theory. The temperature dependence of the EG* was stronger than that of the ER*. This difference caused the breakdown of the thermorheological simplicity for E* and O* around the glass-to-rubber transition zone. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 相似文献

We use the topological tool of Nielsen fixed-point theory to study the controllability of perturbed linear control processes whose control space can be reduced to a finite-dimensional one. These methods produce a lower bound on the number of controls that achieve a given target. The master equation for a complex chemical reaction cannot always be reduced to a simpler master equation, even if there are fast and slow individual reaction steps. Nevertheless the elimination of intermediates can be carried out with the help of the-expansion. This is illustrated with a well-known complex reaction: the dissociation of N2O5. It is shown that the intrinsic fluctuations in the N2O5 decay are larger than those implied by the master equation suggested by the macroscopic rate law. 相似文献
