We investigate the lepton flavor violating productions pp/pp→eμ + X in the framework of the R-parity violating (RPV) supersymmetric model at the Tevatron and the CERN large hadron collider (LHC). We present the total cross sections including the next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD corrections and the contribution from gluon-gluon fusion subprocess. Our numerical results show that the one-loop QCD corrections significantly increase the tree-level cross sections, and the variation of K factor is in the range between 1.28 (1.32) and 1.79 (1.58) at the Tevatron (LHC). We find that the QCD correction from the one-loop gluon-gluon fusion subprocess is remarkable at the LHC and should be taken into account.  相似文献

Electron scattering cross sections from DNA/RNA bases are calculated in the 10 eV–10 keV energy range by combining screening-corrected aditivity-rule (SCAR) with ab-initio quasifree inelastic atomic potential. Similar calculations compare very favourably with available experimental data for benzene, C6F6 and tetrahydrofuran molecules. For DNA/RNA bases, where no experimental data is available, present results are compared with other theoretical values.  相似文献

We analyze the forgotten communication of Ettore Majorana (1906–1938?) on the Thomas-Fermi statistical model of the atom, which he presented on December 29, 1928, during the XXII General Meeting of the Italian Physical Society in Rome, and which was published in Il Nuovo Cimento, the Society’s journal, in 1929. His communication was not mentioned subsequently in any of the numerous publications of Enrico Fermi (1901–1954) and his group in Rome, nor in any of the later accounts of Majorana’s life and work. We place Majorana’s contribution within the context of contemporary research on the subject, point out its influence on the final formulation of the Thomas-Fermi statistical model by Fermi and Edoardo Amaldi (1908–1989) in 1934, and discuss Majorana’s other scientific contributions before his mysterious disappearance in 1938. Francesco Guerra is Professor of Theoretical Physics in the Department of Physics at the University of Rome “La Sapienza.” His main fields of research are quantum-field theory, statistical mechanics of complex systems, and the history of nuclear physics. Nadia Robotti is Professor of History of Physics in the Department of Physics at the University of Genoa. It is generally accepted that the Einstein theory of general relativity governs the evolution of the universe. Using results from conformal field theory, we compute several universal amplitude ratios for the two-dimensional Ising model at criticality on a symmetric torus. These include the correlation-length ratio x =lim L (L)/L and the first four magnetization moment ratios V 2n = 2n / 2 n . As a corollary we get the first four renormalized 2n-point coupling constants for the massless theory on a symmetric torus, G*2n . We confirm these predictions by a high-precision Monte Carlo simulation.  相似文献

Photoluminescence (PL) from composites of 7- and 15-nm sized silica nanoparticles (SNs) and mesoporous silicas (MSs) induced by 266- (4.66-) and 532-nm (2.33-eV) laser light has been studied at room temperature. The multiband PL from MSs in the range of 1.0-2.1 eV is evidenced to originate from isolated bulk and surface non-bridging oxygens (NBOs) and from NBOs combined with variously placed 1-nm sized pore wall oxygen vacancies (OVs). The nature and diversity of NBO light-emitters are confirmed by ab initio calculations. The PL from SNs exhibits only a short wavelength part of the bands (1.5-2.1 eV) originated from isolated bulk and surface NBOs. This fact indicates that the highly OV-bearing structures occur only in extremely thin (∼ 1 nm) silica layers. The similarity of spectroscopic properties of silica-based nanoscale materials to those of surface-oxidized silicon nanocrystals and porous silicon, containing silica-passivating layers of the same width, is discussed. Meson corrections on the chiral condensate up to next-to-leading order in a 1/Nc expansion at finite density are investigated in the NJL model with explicit chiral symmetry breaking. Compared with mean-field results, the chiral phase transition is still of the first order while the properties near the critical density for chiral phase transition are found to change significantly.  相似文献

We consider the τ leptonic decay $\tau\rightarrow l\bar{\nu}_{l}\nu_{\tau}$ in the framework of the littlest Higgs (LH) model and calculate the corrections of new particles to this decay. We find that the contributions of the charged scalars can be safely ignored and the LH model is in perfect agreement with the universality of the couplings of the SU gauge bosons to the leptonic charged currents. The corrections of the LH model to the τ leptonic decay $\tau\rightarrow l\bar{\nu}_{l}\nu_{\tau}$ are not sensitive to the parameter c, but depend strongly on the parameters f and x. The precision measured data about the τ leptonic decay demand that the parameter f approximately equal 3.5 TeV and x>0.1, while agree with the general expectation based on other phenomenological explorations.  相似文献
