Deflection in higher-order gravitational lensing

The deflection of light rays by rotating gravitational lens is considered in the framework of higher-order gravitational theory. The bending angle of light is derived. The effect of the massive scalar and tensor components of higher-order gravitational field as well as the gravito-magnetic on light deflection are discussed.

The Zero-Hamiltonian Problem in a Toy Gravity Model

In this work we present new results on the analysis of the zero-Hamiltonian problem in one-dimensional gravity working with generic gauge fixings, As an application of the methods developed by Henneaux et al. and Gitman et al. We obtain systematically the symplectic structures, effective Hamiltonians and reduced phase-space Physics, as an improvement on previous works on the subject.     

Test of the Inverse Square Law Through Precession of Orbits

Using precession of orbits due to non-Newtonian interaction between two celestial bodies and modern tracking data of satellites, planets and a pulsar we obtain new more precise limits on possible Yukawa-type deviations from the Newton law in planets (satellites) radii ranges.

The Equivalence Principle Revisited

A precise fomulation of the strong Equivalence Principle is essential to the understanding of the relationship between gravitation and quantum mechanics. The relevant aspects are reviewed in a context including General Relativity but allowing for the presence of torsion. For the sake of brevity, a concise statement is proposed for the Principle: An ideal observer immersed in a gravitational field can choose a reference frame in which gravitation goes unnoticed. This statement is given a clear mathematical meaning through an accurate discussion of its terms. It holds for ideal observers (time-like smooth non-intersecting curves), but not for real, spatially extended observers. Analogous results hold for gauge fields. The difference between gravitation and the other fundamental interactions comes from their distinct roles in the equation of force.

Asymmetric Brane-World Scenarios and Simulated Gravity

I review the main aspects of the simulated gravity that arises in brane-world models in which the reflection symmetry is broken. I recall its main aspects, show how a Newton-like force can be simulated on small scales, and discuss the post-Newtonian constraints as well as the cosmology of this model.     

Gauge coupling renormalization in AdS5

We present the relation of the 4-dimensional low energy gauge coupling and the 5-dimensional fundamental gauge coupling of bulk gauge boson in a slice of AdS₅, which is orbifolded byZ ₂ ×Z′₂. We calculate the full 1-loop corrections for the case of generic 5-dimensional scalar, Dirac fermion, and vector fields with arbitraryZ ₂×Z′₂. For the supersymmetric case, we obtain the result more easily by using the 4-dimensional effective supergravity approach.
