Within the framework of the survival hypothesis for Higgs scalars we comprehensively examine the following question: could there be neutron-antineutron oscillations in SO(10) grand unified theories which would be detectable in the forthcoming experiments? In the process of answering this, we critically discuss and supplement the existing knowledge of the relevant patterns of SO(10) symmetry breakdown in relation to the said oscillations. Recently we demonstrated theoretically that the carriers of quantized angular momentum in superconductors are not the Cooper pairs but the lattice ions, which must execute coherent localized motion consistent with the phenomenon of superconductivity. We demonstrate here that in the presence of an external magnetic field, the free superelectron and bound ion currents largely cancel providing a self-consistent microscopic and macroscopic interpretation of near-zero magnetic permeability inside superconductors. The neutral mass currents, however, do not cancel, because of the monopolar gravitational charge. It is shown that the coherent alignment of lattice ion spins will generate a detectable gravitomagnetic field, and in the presence of a time-dependent applied magnetic vector potential field, a detectable gravitoelectric field. 相似文献

A new variational technique determines the general condition of equilibrium of a rotating gravitational or electromagnetic system (or both) and provides a modified dynamical equation of motion from where it emerges a so-far unforseen topological torsion current (TTC) (Pinheiro, 2013) [63]. We suggest that the TTC may explain, in a simple and direct way, the anomalous acceleration detected in spacecrafts during close planetary flybys. Proton hexality is a discrete symmetry that avoids the problem of too fast proton decay in the supersymmetric extension of the standard model. Gravitational contributions to the running of gauge couplings are calculated by using different regularization schemes. As the β function concerns counter-terms of dimension four, only quadratic divergences from the gravitational contributions need to be investigated. A consistent result is obtained by using a symmetry-preserving loop regularization with string-mode regulators which can appropriately treat the quadratic divergences and preserve non-abelian gauge symmetry. The harmonic gauge condition for gravity is used in both diagrammatical and background field calculations, the resulting gravitational corrections to the β function are found to be nonzero, which is different from previous results presented in the existing literatures. 相似文献

We consider the problem of gravitation-wave impulse recognition against the background of correlated noise produced by resonance gravitational antennas. A new algorithm for the joint processing of data recorded by spatially separated gravitational detectors is obtained. The algorithm is an alternative to the coincidence scheme, which is traditionally used in gravitation-wave experiments. The motion of a torsion balance with five degrees of freedom has been numerically simulated. It has been shown that the oscillations along the swing degrees of freedom are excited by the random noise of the seismic origin and their amplitude varies with time. It has been shown also that the nonlinear couplings between the swing and torsion degrees of freedom result in the appearance of combination oscillations. We construct a model unifying general relativity and quantum mechanics in a broader structure of noncommutative geometry. The geometry in question is that of a transformation groupoid given by the action of a finite group on a space E. We define the algebra

Owing to the fact that the group G is finite the model can be computed in full details.
