It is shown that the convective transport in a binary mixture in the presence of vortex convection can be described in terms of Fick’s law with an effective diffusion coefficient independent of the concentration. The form of the effective diffusion coefficient is found for arbitrary convection in the mixture. A generalization of the Stefan-Maxwell diffusion equation is proposed to include an arbitrary rotational mixture velocity field. The characteristics of convective transport are considered with reference to a three-component mixture. A solution of the equation of three-component mixture transport through a long capillary in the presence of convection homogeneous along the capillary axis is presented. It is established that for sharply different component diffusion coefficients a mixture density extremum may appear inside the capillary and then change or disappear depending on the convective flow intensity.  相似文献

In this Letter, a convergence result for the BBGKY hierarchy to a Boltzmann-like equation, in the case of an Anelastic collision, is shown. Boltzmann-like equations are often used to model dissipative dynamical systems such as granular media. This paper presents the applications of digital image correlation technique to the mesoscopic damage and fracture study of some granular based composite materials including steelfiber reinforced concrete, sandstone and crystal-polymer composite. The deformation fields of the composite materials resulted from stress localization were obtained by the correlation computation of the surface images with loading steps and thus the related damage prediction and fracture parameters were evaluated. The correlation searching could be performed either directly based on the gray levels of the digital images or from the wavelet transform (WT) coefficients of the transform spectrum. The latter was developed by the authors and showed higher resolution and sensitivity to the singularity detection. Because the displacement components came from the rough surfaces of the composite materials without any coats of gratings or fringes of optical interferometry, both surface profiles and the deformation fields of the composites were visualized which was helpful to compare each other to analyze the damage of those heterogeneous materials. Summary Gas chromatography has been employed in the separation of mixtures of air, carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide and a volatile anaesthetic (halothane, isoflurane or enflurane) on a single Chromosorb 101 column by temperature programming from room temperature. Calibration over the required range for the analysis of exhaled air, demonstrated good linearity with a repeatability for test mixtures of about 1%.  相似文献

Summary Six commercial hydrogen standards containing helium, oxygen, nitrogen, methane and carbon dioxide at trace levels were analyzed by gas chromatography, for periods up to 105 days. The concentrations, in the range of 0–120 μmol mol−1, were stable (with the exception of oxygen) but often significantly different from the certified values provided by the suppliers, especially for helium, oxygen and nitrogen. Concurrently, some experiments were carried out to verify the stability of gas mixtures based on hydrogen stored in cylinders submitted to different chemical and physical treatments. Speed of sound and densities of the ternary mixture 2-propanol + diethyl ether + n-hexane and also the binary mixtures 2-propanol + diethyl ether and 2-propanol + n-hexane have been measured at the entire composition range at 298.15 K. The excess isentropic compressibilities and the excess speed of the sound have been calculated from experimental densities and speed of sound. These excess properties of the binary mixtures were fitted to Redlich-Kister equation, while the Cibulka’s equation was used to fit the values related to the values to the ternary system. These excess properties have been used to discuss the presence of significant interactions between the component molecules in the binary mixtures and also the ternary mixtures. Speed of sound of the binary mixtures and the ternary mixture have been compared with calculated values from free length theory (FLT), collision factor theory (CFT), Nomoto’s relation (NR), Van Deal’s ideal mixing relation (IMR) and Junjie’s relation (JR). The results are used to compare the relative merits of these theories and relations in terms of the root mean square deviation relative (RMSDr).  相似文献

The effect of CuO on the thermal behaviour of Zr/KClO4 primer mixtures was studied by thermoanalytical techniques, and the Bruceton method and its related calculation. It was found that the CuO catalytically promoted the decomposition of Zr/KClO4 primer mixtures and shifted the exothermic peak of DSC curves to lower temperatures. In addition, the Zr/KClO4 primer mixture containing CuO had a significant effect on the firing characteristics of electro-explosive devices.  相似文献

In this review paper, the NBS scale and its limitations are briefly discussed. The magnitude of liquid junction potentials and some calculated values are presented. The use of a molality scale for hydrogen electrode concentration cells at high temperatures is described, and results from measurements on ionization equilibria are summarized. Use of this scale is also recommended for certain circumstances with cells without liquid junction. As an alternative activity scale, use of the Pitzer ion-interaction treatment for ions is recommended for special cases. Finally, reference data are presented for ±HCl in HCl(aq) to 350°C and (HCl+NaCl)(aq) to 200°C that were derived by use of the Pitzer ion-interaction treatment.Presented at the Second International Symposium on Chemistry in High Temperature Water, Provo, UT, August 1991.  相似文献
