We analyze a model queueing system in which customers cannot be in continuous contact with the server, but must call in to request service. If the server is free, the customer enters service immediately, but if the server is occupied, the unsatisfied customer must break contact and reapply for service later. There are two types of customer present who may reapply. First transit customers who arrive from outside according to a Poisson process and if they find the server busy they join a source of unsatisfied customers, called the orbit, who according to an exponential distribution reapply for service till they find the server free and leave the system on completion of service. Secondly there are a number of recurrent customers present who reapply for service according to a different exponential distribution and immediately go back in to the orbit after each completion of service. We assume a general service time distribution and calculate several characterstic quantities of the system for both the constant rate of reapplying for service and for the case when customers are discouraged and reduce their rate of demand as more customers join the orbit.  相似文献

Single server retrial queueing models in which customers arrive according to a batch Poisson process are considered here. An arriving batch, finding the server busy, enters an orbit. Otherwise, one customer from the arriving batch enters for service immediately while the rest join the orbit. The customers from the orbit (the orbital customers) try to reach the server subsequently with the inter-retrial times exponentially distributed. Additionally, at each service completion epoch, two different search mechanisms, that is, type I and type II search, to bring the orbital customers by the system to service, are switched on. Thus, when the server is idle, a competition takes place among primary customers, customers who come by retrial and by two types of searches. The type I search selects a single customer whereas the type II search considers a batch of customers from the orbit. Depending on the maximum size of the batch being considered for service by a type II search, two cases are addressed here. In the first case, no restriction on batch size is assumed, whereas in the second case, maximum size of the batch is restricted to a pre-assigned value. We call the resulting models as model 1 and model 2 respectively. In all service modes other than type II search, only a single customer is qualified for service. Service times of the four types of customers, namely, primary, repeated, and those who come by two types of searches are arbitrarily distributed (with different distributions which are independent of each other). Steady state analysis is performed and stability conditions are established. A control problem for model 2 is considered and numerical illustrations are provided.  相似文献

The relationship between the classical Schur-Horn's theorem on the diagonal elements of a Hermitian matrix with prescribed eigenvalues and Kostant's convexity theorem in the context of Lie groups. By using Kostant's convexity theorem, we work out the statements on the special orthogonal group and the symplectic group explicitly. Schur-Horn's result can be stated in terms of a set of inequalities. The counterpart in the Lie-theoretic context is related to a partial ordering, introduced by Atiyah and Bott, defined on the closed fundamental Weyl chamber. Some results of Thompson on the diagonal elements of a matrix with prescribed singular values are recovered. Thompson-Poon's theorem on the convex hull of Hermitian matrices with prescribed eigenvalues is also generalized. Then a result of Atiyah-Bott is recovered.  相似文献

The dark soliton solutions corresponds to certain heteroclinic orbits for related autonomous planar differential equations. In this paper, we give a proof of the existence of upper and lower bounds of these heteroclinic orbits and find these bounds of explicit form. We model and discuss the possible types of motion that charged particles may undergo in a stationary and spatially periodic electrostatic potential and a homogeneous magnetic field. The model is considered to be the simplest approximation of more complex phenomena of plasma edge turbulence in tokamaks. Therein, low frequency turbulence appears in the plasma edge, resulting in a fluctuation of the electron density, and also in the generation of a turbulent electrostatic field. Typical parameters of this turbulent electrostatic field are an electrical potential amplitude of 10–100 V and wave numbers k≈103 m-1. In our model, we consider these regimes, together with a homogeneous magnetic field with a magnitude of 1 T. We investigate the dynamics of singly-ionized carbon ions – a typical plasma impurity – with kinetic energies on the order of 10 eV. Besides the obvious Larmor and drift motions, a motion of random-walk and of Lévy walk character appear therein. All of these types of motion can play an important role in the modelling of the anomalous diffusion of particles from the plasma edge turbulence region. The dynamics mentioned will cause an inevitable escape of energetic particles and thus of power loss from the thermonuclear reactor. Moreover, Lévy walk kinetics represents a very interesting kind of kinetics, currently of great interest, which was previously not so often discussed.  相似文献

Two types of sensitivities are proposed for statically stable sailcrafts.One type is the sensitivities of solar-radiation-pressure force with respect to position of the center of mass,and the other type is the sensitivities of solar-radiation-pressure force with respect to attitude.The two types of sensitivities represent how the solar-radiationpressure force changes with the position of mass center and the attitude.Sailcrafts with larger sensitivities undergo larger error of the solar-radiation-pressure force,leading to larger orbit error,as demonstrated by simulation.Then as a case study,detailed formulas are derived to calculate the sensitivities for sailcrafts with four triangular sails.According to these formulas,in order to reduce both types of sensitivities,the angle between opposed sails should not be too large,and the center of mass should be as close to the axis of symmetry of the four sails as possible and as far away from the center of pressure of the sailcraft as possible.  相似文献
