We consider the global existence and asymptotic behavior of classical solutions to the ellipsoidal BGK model for polyatomic molecules when the initial data starts sufficiently close to a global polyatomic Maxwellian. We observe that the linearized relaxation operator is decomposed into a truly polyatomic part and an essentially monatomic part, leading to a dichotomy in the dissipative property in the sense that the degeneracy of the dissipation shows an abrupt jump as the relaxation parameter θ reaches zero. We consider the eigenvalue problem for Hodge-Laplacian on a Riemannian manifold M isometrically immersed into another Riemannian manifold . We first assume the pull back Weitzenböck operator of bounded from below, and obtain an extrinsic lower bound for the first eigenvalue of Hodge-Laplacian. As applications, we obtain some rigidity results. Second, when the pull back Weitzenböck operator of bounded from both sides, we give a lower bound of the first eigenvalue by the Ricci curvature of M and some extrinsic geometry. As a consequence, we prove a weak Ejiri type theorem, that is, if the Ricci curvature bounded from below pointwisely by a function of the norm square of the mean curvature vector, then M is a homology sphere. In this paper, we will introduce how to apply Green’s function method to get the pointwise estimates for the solutions of Cauchy problem of nonlinear evolution equations with dissipative structure. First of all, we introduce the pointwise estimates of the time-asymptotic shape of the solutions of the isentropic Navier-Stokes equations and show to exhibit the generalized Huygen’s principle. Then, for other nonlinear dissipative evolution equations, we will only introduce the result and give some brief explanations. The diffusion matrix may degenerate when the norm of the gradient of the solution is small: the exhibited Hölder exponent and Hölder constant only depend on the growth of the source term and on the bounds of the spectrum of the diffusion matrix for large values of the gradient. We describe the essential spectrum and prove the Mourre estimate for quantum particle systems interacting through k-body forces and creation-annihilation processes which do not preserve the number of particles. For this we compute the “Hamiltonian algebra” of the system, i.e. the C∗-algebra C generated by the Hamiltonians we want to study, and show that, as in the N-body case, it is graded by a semilattice. Hilbert C∗-modules graded by semilattices are involved in the construction of C.
