A series of novel multifunctional hydrogels that combined the merits of both thermoresponsive and biodegradable polymeric materials were designed, synthesized, and characterized. The hydrogels were copolymeric networks composed of N‐isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAM) as a thermoresponsive component, poly(L‐lactic acid) (PLLA) as a hydrolytically degradable and hydrophobic component, and dextran as an enzymatically degradable and hydrophilic component. The chemical structures of the hydrogels were characterized by an attenuated total reflection–Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR–FTIR) technique. The hydrogels were thermoresponsive, showing a lower critical solution temperature (LCST) at approximately 32 °C, and their swelling properties strongly depended on temperature changes, the balance of the hydrophilic/hydrophobic components, and the degradation of the PLLA component. The degradation of the hydrogels caused by hydrolytic cleavage of ester bonds in the PLLA component was faster at 25 °C below the LCST than at 37 °C above the LCST, determined by the ATR–FTIR technique. The field of photonic crystals has, over the past few years, received dramatically increased attention. Photonic crystals are artificially engineered structures that exhibit a periodic variation in one, two, or three dimensions of the dielectric constant, with a period of the order of the pertinent light wavelength. Such structures in three dimensions should exhibit properties similar to solid-state electronic crystals, such as bandgaps, in other words wavelength regions where light cannot propagate in any direction. By introducing defects into the periodic arrangement, the photonic crystals exhibit properties analogous to those of solid-state crystals. The basic feature of a photonic bandgap was indeed experimentally demonstrated in the beginning of the 1990s, and sparked a large interest in, and in many ways revitalized, photonics research. There are several reasons for this attention. One is that photonic crystals, in their own right, offer a proliferation of challenging research tasks, involving a multitude of disciplines, such as electromagnetic theory, nanofabrication, semi-conductor technology, materials science, biotechnology, to name a few. Another reason is given by the somewhat more down-to-earth expectations that photonics crystals will create unique opportunities for novel devices and applications, and contribute to solving some of the issues that have plagued photonics such as large physical sizes, comparatively low functionality, and high costs. Herein, we will treat some basics of photonic crystal structures and discuss the state-of-the-art in fabrication as well give some examples of devices with unique properties, due to the use of photonic crystals. We will also point out some of the problems that still remain to be solved, and give a view on where photonic crystals currently stand.  相似文献

This article reports on research focused on the integration of a specific computer tool, the spreadsheet, into mathematics teaching. After presenting some important results obtained by research in this area, we revisit these in the light of an instrumental approach, which we perceive as essential to analyse the construction of mathematical meanings in spreadsheet environments and to understand better the questions of technological integration. Then, these theoretical elements are used in order to design an exploratory experiment with grade 7 pupils and analyse its results.  相似文献

We explore M/G/∞ systems ‘fed’ by Poissonian inflows with infinite arrival rates. Three processes – corresponding to the system's state, workload, and queue-size – are studied and analyzed. Closed form formulae characterizing the system's stationary structure and correlation structure are derived. And, the issues of queue finiteness, workload summability, and Long Range Dependence are investigated. We then turn to devise a ‘reverse engineering’ scheme for the design of the system's correlation structure. Namely: how to construct an M/G/∞ system with a pre-desired ‘target’ workload/queue auto-covariance function. The ‘reverse engineering’ scheme is applied to various examples, including ones with infinite queues and non-summable workloads.
