Generalized binomial and negative binomial distributions of order<Emphasis Type="Italic">k</Emphasis> by the<Emphasis Type="Italic">l</Emphasis>-overlapping enumeration scheme

In this paper, we investigate the exact distribution of the waiting time for ther-th ℓ-overlapping occurrence of success-runs of a specified length in a sequence of two state Markov dependent trials. The probability generating functions are derived explicitly, and as asymptotic results, relationships of a negative binomial distribution of orderk and an extended Poisson distribution of orderk are discussed. We provide further insights into the run-related problems from the viewpoint of the ℓ-overlapping enumeration scheme. We also study the exact distribution of the number of ℓ-overlapping occurrences of success-runs in a fixed number of trials and derive the probability generating functions. The present work extends several properties of distributions of orderk and leads us a new type of geneses of the discrete distributions.     

激发相干态下双模介观传输线的量子效应

将介观无损耗传输线中的驻波场看成作相对运动的两列同频率的行波的叠加，此电路量子化后成为两个频率相同、不同模的光子场。计算和分析了激发相干态下电压和电流梯度的量子涨落，指出了双模传输线与一般的LC电路、双模传输线与单模传输线量子涨落的异同之处。     

多束速调管的增益带宽

 研究了M个束、N个共振腔的多束速调管(MBK)的增益和带宽，得到了描述小信号增益和带宽与器件结构参数和电子束参数关系的公式，给出了在不同参数下增益随频率的变化曲线。分析了多腔对增益，多束对带宽的影响。计算结果表明：多腔可以提高增益；多束可以降低Q值，从而可以增中带宽，带宽增加工了3.6%，还可以提高增益；对于MBK，频率交叉调谐对增加带宽不如频率调谐好；空间电荷波只对增益有影响，对带宽没有影响。最后，预估一种L带多束速调管的增益带宽为8.1%。     

压缩偶相干态的制备及其非经典特性

通过保持非耗散介观LC电路的固有频率不变，而使电路参数作阶跃函数变化，就可将介观LC电路由初始的偶相干态制备到压缩偶相干态；在压缩偶相干态下，介观电路系统不仅有非经典的量子压缩效应，而且有非经典的反聚束效应. 关键词： 介观LC电路 单位阶跃函数 压缩算符 压缩偶相干态     

Liminf results on the increments of an (N,d)-Gaussian process

We establish some liminf theorems on the increments of a (N,d)-Gaussian process with the usual Euclidean norm, via estimating upper bounds of large deviation probabilities on the suprema of the (N,d)-Gaussian process. Load-Carrying Capacity of Circular Plates Made of a Fiber-Reinforced Composite

The load-carrying capacity of circular plates made of a fiber-reinforced composite and loaded with axisymmetric transverse forces under axisymmetric boundary conditions is investigated. The plates can be freely supported or clamped along their contour. To the known yield condition used, in the plane of main bending moments, there correspond irregular hexagons, which depend on the mechanical properties of composite constituents and some characteristic geometrical parameters. It is shown that, depending on the ratio of ultimate radial and circumferential bending moments, in the plastic state, the circular plates (the central part of the clamped plates) take the form of a cone or a frustum of cone. For each of the cases, the limit load is found, which is a function of the above-mentioned mechanical parameters. The statically allowable fields of bending moments and the corresponding allowable fields of deflection rates are determined. The solutions found are exact. Special cases for the freely supported plates are analyzed, and the results obtained are presented in the form of graphs.__________Translated from Mekhanika Kompozitnykh Materialov, Vol. 41, No. 2, pp. 177–192, March–April, 2005.     

The Central Limit Problem for Random Vectors with Symmetries

Motivated by the central limit problem for convex bodies, we study normal approximation of linear functionals of high-dimensional random vectors with various types of symmetries. In particular, we obtain results for distributions which are coordinatewise symmetric, uniform in a regular simplex, or spherically symmetric. Our proofs are based on Stein’s method of exchangeable pairs; as far as we know, this approach has not previously been used in convex geometry. The spherically symmetric case is treated by a variation of Stein’s method which is adapted for continuous symmetries. This work was done while at Stanford University.     

On the limit cycles of a quintic planar vector field

This paper concerns the number and distributions of limit cycles in a Z_2-equivariant quintic planar vector field.25 limit cycles are found in this special planar polynomial system and four different configurations of these limit cycles are also given by using the methods of the bifurcation theory and the qualitative analysis of the differential equation.It can be concluded that H(5)≥25=5~2, where H(5)is the Hilbert number for quintic polynomial systems.The results obtained are useful to study the weakened 16th Hilbert problem.     

Families of Line-Graphs and Their Quantization

Any directed graph G with N vertices and J edges has an associated line-graph L(G) where the J edges form the vertices of L(G). We show that the non-zero eigenvalues of the adjacency matrices are the same for all graphs of such a family L ⁿ (G). We give necessary and sufficient conditions for a line-graph to be quantisable and demonstrate that the spectra of associated quantum propagators follow the predictions of random matrices under very general conditions. Line-graphs may therefore serve as models to study the semiclassical limit (of large matrix size) of a quantum dynamics on graphs with fixed classical behaviour.     

Local polynomial fitting under association

We consider the estimation of multivariate regression functions r(x₁,…,x_d) and their partial derivatives up to a total order p1 using high-order local polynomial fitting. The processes {Y_i,X_i} are assumed to be (jointly) associated. Joint asymptotic normality is established for the estimates of the regression function r and all its partial derivatives up to the total order p. Expressions for the bias and variance/covariance matrix (of the asymptotic distribution) are given.
