)4 were refluxed with stirring in 2-methoxyethanol to form Pb-methoxyethoxide and Ti-methoxyethoxide, respectively, followed
by mixing with stirring in 2-methoxyethanol to form Pb−Ti double alkoxide. The hydrolysis and polycondensation reaction of
this double alkoxide gave polymerized products, and as a result the viscosity of the solution increased, suggesting that linear
polymers were produced through the hydrolysis and polycondensation reaction. Homogeneous PbTiO3 gel fibers were drawn from the spinnable viscous solutions, which were wellcrystallized into perovskite type PbTiO3 at 650°C. The heat-treated fibers were a few centimeters long and from 10 to 100 μm in diameter. The fiber was made up of
extremely uniform grains. Electron diffraction revealed a preferred growth of (101) planes along the fiber axis, which might

Using “pure” natural hematite selected from a high silica Nigerian hematitic ore, oleate adsorption densities at the hematite–water interface were determined in the presence of various inorganic ions (anions and cations) of different charges and at varying concentrations. Adsorption density was determined using electrical conductivity measurements. The specific surface area of the hematite particles was determined using the method of adsorption of paranitrophenol in aqueous solution. Inorganic ions in solution depressed oleate adsorption at the aqueous hematite surface. The charge of the ion proved to be the dominant factor determining the depression of oleate adsorption. Ionic strength also was an influence, up to a limiting value at which monolayer oleate coverage of the hematite surface occurred. Both n- and p-type SiC of different doping levels were electrochemically etched by HF. The etch rate (up to 1.5 μm/min) and the surface morphology of p-type 6H-SiC were sensitive to the applied voltage and the HF concentration. The electrochemical valence of 6.3 ± 0.5 elementary charge per SiC molecule was determined. At p-n junctions (p-type layer on a n-type 6H-SiC substrate) a selective etching of the p-type epilayer could be achieved. For a planar 6H-4H polytype junction (n-type, both polytypes with equal doping concentrations) the 4H region was selectively etched under UV illumination. Thus polytype junctions could be marked by electrochemical etching. With HCl instead of HF no etching of SiC occurs, but a SiO2 layer (thickness up to 8 μm) is formed by anodic oxidation. Impurity release from the first wall and components facing the hot plasma in Tokamak devices for controlled fusion research and the concomitant pollution of the plasma lead to enhanced energy losses and deuterium-tritium luel dilution. Both these effects can prevent reaching the ignition conditions. The recently developed technique for large areain situ deposition of boron carbide protective coatings by means of plasma-induced chemical vapor deposition enables one to significantly improve the purity of the fusion plasma. The starting electrophoretic motion of a porous, uniformly charged, spherical particle, which models a solvent-permeable and ion-penetrable polyelectrolyte coil or floc of nanoparticles, in an arbitrary electrolyte solution due to the sudden application of an electric field is studied for the first time. The unsteady Stokes/Brinkman equations with the electric force term governing the fluid velocity fields are solved by means of the Laplace transform. An analytical formula for the electrophoretic mobility of the porous sphere is obtained as a function of the dimensionless parameters , , , and , where a is the radius of the particle, κ is the Debye screening parameter, λ is the reciprocal of the square root of the fluid permeability in the particle, ρp and ρ are the mass densities of the particle and fluid, respectively, ν is the kinematic viscosity of the fluid, and t is the time. The electrophoretic mobility normalized by its steady-state value increases monotonically with increases in and , but decreases monotonically with an increase in , keeping the other parameters unchanged.
