Strong edge-coloring for planar graphs with large girth

A strong edge-coloring of a graph $G=(V,E)$ is a partition of its edge set $E$ into induced matchings. Let $G$ be a connected planar graph with girth $k\ge 26$ and maximum degree $\Delta$. We show that either $G$ is isomorphic to a subgraph of a very special $\Delta$-regular graph with girth $k$, or $G$ has a strong edge-coloring using at most $2\Delta +\lceil \frac{12(\Delta -2)}{k}\rceil$ colors.     

Facile non‐lithographic route to highly aligned silica nanopatterns using unidirectionally aligned polystyrene‐block‐polydimethylsiloxane films

Thin films (monolayer and bilayer) of cylinder forming polystyrene‐block‐polydimethylsiloxane (PS‐b‐PDMS) were shear aligned by the swelling and deswelling of a crosslinked PDMS pad that was physically adhered to the film during solvent vapor annealing. The nanostructures formed by self‐assembly were exposed to ultraviolet‐ozone to partially oxidize the PDMS, followed by calcination in air at 500 °C. In this process, the PS segments were fully decomposed, while the PDMS yielded silica nanostructures. The highly aligned PDMS cylinders were thus deposited as silica nanolines on the silicon substrate. Using a bilayer film, the center‐to‐center distance of these features were effectively halved from 38 to 19 nm. Similarly, by sequential shear‐alignment of two distinct layers, a rhombic array of silica nanolines was fabricated. Cycle and circle tests of balance in gain graphs: Forbidden minors and their groups

We examine two criteria for balance of a gain graph, one based on binary cycles and one on circles. The graphs for which each criterion is valid depend on the set of allowed gain groups. The binary cycle test is invalid, except for forests, if any possible gain group has an element of odd order. Assuming all groups are allowed, or all abelian groups, or merely the cyclic group of order 3, we characterize, both constructively and by forbidden minors, the graphs for which the circle test is valid. It turns out that these three classes of groups have the same set of forbidden minors. The exact reason for the importance of the ternary cyclic group is not clear. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 用Java实现网上结构图实验仿真

基于线性系统仿真的连接矩阵方法，用Java语言开发面向结构图的实验仿真程序，以Applet小应用程序的形式插入网页中运行，实现了信号与系统网上实验教学中的结构图实验仿真。经试用，程序在浏览器中运行正常，可以完成一般线性系统仿真，与以MATLAB，LABView等程序开发的实验仿真程序相比，该程序运行环境简单，几乎所有常用的Web浏览器都支持Java运行，不需另行安装相应组件。对于线性系统结构图，实现了所见即所得的图形化编程环境，具有较好的人机交互性。

A note on minimum degree conditions for supereulerian graphs

A graph is called supereulerian if it has a spanning closed trail. Let G be a 2-edge-connected graph of order n such that each minimal edge cut SE(G) with |S|3 satisfies the property that each component of G−S has order at least (n−2)/5. We prove that either G is supereulerian or G belongs to one of two classes of exceptional graphs. Our results slightly improve earlier results of Catlin and Li. Furthermore, our main result implies the following strengthening of a theorem of Lai within the class of graphs with minimum degree δ4: If G is a 2-edge-connected graph of order n with δ(G)4 such that for every edge xyE(G) , we have max{d(x),d(y)}(n−2)/5−1, then either G is supereulerian or G belongs to one of two classes of exceptional graphs. We show that the condition δ(G)4 cannot be relaxed.     

Large set of P3‐decompositions

Let G=(V(G),E(G)) be a graph. A (n,G, λ)‐GD is a partition of the edges of λK_n into subgraphs (G‐blocks), each of which is isomorphic to G. The (n,G,λ)‐GD is named as graph design for G or G‐decomposition. The large set of (n,G,λ)‐GD is denoted by (n,G,λ)‐LGD. 本文利用局部比较法 ,在图中定义子图、无效路径、以及可去边 .利用推导的有关定理 ,拆去可去边 ,利用最短路径相同的等价性 ,达到化简图 ,从而求出最短路径
