A d-web in ( ,0) is given by d complex analytic foliations of codimension one in ( ,0) which are in general position. A d-web in ( ,0) is linear if all the leaves are (pieces of) hyperplanes in and is algebraic if it is associated, by duality, to a nondegenerate algebraic curve in of degree d. We characterize linear webs in ( ,0). We give explicit conditions under which a linear d-web in ( ,0) is algebraic and we obtain equations for in this case. Some related problems are discussed and some questions are posed.     

The Diffie–Hellman problem and generalization of Verheul’s theorem

Bilinear pairings on elliptic curves have been of much interest in cryptography recently. Most of the protocols involving pairings rely on the hardness of the bilinear Diffie–Hellman problem. In contrast to the discrete log (or Diffie–Hellman) problem in a finite field, the difficulty of this problem has not yet been much studied. In 2001, Verheul (Advances in Cryptology—EUROCRYPT 2001, LNCS 2045, pp. 195–210, 2001) proved that on a certain class of curves, the discrete log and Diffie–Hellman problems are unlikely to be provably equivalent to the same problems in a corresponding finite field unless both Diffie–Hellman problems are easy. In this paper we generalize Verheul’s theorem and discuss the implications on the security of pairing based systems.      

Totally geodesic immersions of Kähler manifolds and Kähler Frenet curves

In a given Kähler manifold (M,J) we introduce the notion of Kähler Frenet curves, which is closely related to the complex structure J of M. Using the notion of such curves, we characterize totally geodesic Kähler immersions of M into an ambient Kähler manifold and totally geodesic immersions of M into an ambient real space form of constant sectional curvature .     

Numerical simulation of critical dependences for symmetric two-layered Josephson junctions

Partial critical dependences of the form current-magnetic field in a two-layered symmetric Josephson junction are modeled. A numerical experiment shows that, for the zero interaction coefficient between the layers of the junction, jumps of the critical currents corresponding to different distributions of the magnetic fluxes in the layers may appear on the critical curves. This fact allows a mathematical interpretation of the results of some recent experimental results for two-layered junctions as a consequence of discontinuities of partial critical curves.

In this paper, we study a class of elliptic curves over with -torsion group , and prove that the average order of the -Selmer groups is bounded.

Vector bundles with a fixed determinant on an irreducible nodal curve

LetM be the moduli space of generalized parabolic bundles (GPBs) of rankr and degree dona smooth curveX. LetM _−L be the closure of its subset consisting of GPBs with fixed determinant− L. We define a moduli functor for whichM _−L is the coarse moduli scheme. Using the correspondence between GPBs onX and torsion-free sheaves on a nodal curveY of whichX is a desingularization, we show thatM _−L can be regarded as the compactified moduli scheme of vector bundles onY with fixed determinant. We get a natural scheme structure on the closure of the subset consisting of torsion-free sheaves with a fixed determinant in the moduli space of torsion-free sheaves onY. The relation to Seshadri-Nagaraj conjecture is studied.
