300 W侧面分布式抽运掺Yb全光纤放大器

采用角度磨抛的方式, 在纤芯/包层为20/400 μm双包层掺Yb光纤上制作了侧面抽运耦合器. 该耦合器对975 nm的半导体二极管抽运光的耦合效率最高可达97%, 对1080 nm信号光的泄漏比小于2%. 分析了侧面抽运耦合器的性能以及多个侧面抽运耦合器的级联分布对抽运耦合效率的影响; 同时, 在前向抽运和双向抽运方式下, 分析了级联耦合器的分布及信号光泄漏比对激光器整体效率的影响, 并进行了数值模拟. 采用自行研制的侧面抽运耦合器, 搭建了侧面耦合分布式抽运、掺Yb双包层全光纤主振荡功率放大器, 获得了波长为1080 nm、功率为303 W 的基模激光输出. 进一步增加抽运点个数, 提高抽运功率, 可获得更高的输出功率.     

Synthesis of a difunctional orthogonal coupler for the preparation of carbohydrate-functionalized sP(EO-stat-PO) hydrogels

The synthesis and characterization of a new difunctional coupler (4) based on trimethylolpropane (TMP) are described. The coupler is used to connect biologically active N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) on amino-reactive microtiter plates and on star-shaped poly[(ethylene oxide)-stat-(propylene oxide)] hydrogel layers in microtiter plates. The biological activity of immobilized carbohydrates is determined using an enzyme-linked lectin assay.     

Temperature-stable polished fibre-optic coupler

One possible way to prepare a compact and temperature stable polished-type optical fibre coupler (OFC) from different kinds of single-mode fibres with different profiles is demonstrated. The proposed technology enables one to prepare an OFC with high reproducibility and stability of its parameters. The experimental characteristics of the glued OFC are presented and compared with theoretical ones.     

Image guide couplers with isotropic and anisotropic coupling elements

Among other waveguide elements directional couplers are required in integrated millimeterwave circuits in image guide technique. Hereby an I-guide is used which consists of a dielectric slab between two conducting plates on which the electric field is perpendicularily. Flat coupling behaviour and better isolation can be reached by use of a dielectric coupling element and absorber materials. Thereby the frequency dependence is reduced significantly. Further the coupling can be steered by an additional premagnetized ferrite slab. In this way switched couplers can be realized.     

New Criterion for Designing Silica Multimode Interference Power Splitters

We introduce a new criterion for designing 1 × N silica multimode interference power splitters using overlapping-image multimode interference analysis. This criterion requires that widths of multimode waveguides in the devices should be greater than 2 times the product of port number N and effective widths of output waveguides. Better device uniformity can be achieved when the new criterion is satisfied.     

Low-Loss Many-to-One Fiber Couplers with Few or Single-Moded Inputs and a Multi-Mode Output

The coupling of light from a number of few or single-moded fibers into a single multi-mode fiber is analyzed using geometric optics, and simple results demonstrating mode conservation are derived. Coupling from multiple single-mode fibers into a multi-mode fiber is investigated in detail using the overlap integral to determine coupling into each mode of the output fiber as a function of the light phase in the inputs. As well as results with practical relevance to fiber tapped delay-line filters and optical CDMA, the analysis provides pedagogic insight into light propagation and the light-gathering properties of fiber.     

分布式抽运连续光纤激光器研究

为了避免高功率光纤激光器中光纤端面出现热效应问题,依据多点级联结构的耦合器,对分布式抽运的光纤激光器进行了研究。首先,介绍了实验室自主研制的级联耦合器。然后,分析了耦合器插入对光纤激光器的影响。最后,选用自制的耦合器搭建了分布式抽运的光纤激光器。实验结果表明:对耦合器插入损耗的研究,能够促进高功率级联耦合器的实现。在光纤激光器结构中,975 nm泵浦功率注入1.1 k W时,1 080nm激光功率输出为770 W,光-光转换效率为77%。在主控振荡功率放大结构中,激光功率输出为635 W,放大级的光-光转换效率为78%。分布式抽运方式可以使泵浦光多点注入,避免了热量的集中,能够获得千瓦级的激光功率输出。     

光子晶体光纤耦合器中的标量调制不稳定性

从光纤耦合器的耦合模方程出发,用偶奇超模对其进行重写,讨论了当输入条件使奇偶超模其中之一被单独激发时,在光子晶体光纤耦合器中的调制不稳定性.结果表明：光子晶体光纤耦合器中在正常和反常色散区均存在调制不稳定性,并且调制不稳定性与三阶色散项无关、与四阶色散项有关,给出了增益谱在不同色散区随输入功率的变化关系;当满足一定条件时,在光子晶体光纤耦合器中传播的准连续波可以分解成脉冲序列,由此可以分离和提取超短脉冲. 关键词： 光子晶体光纤耦合器 偶次超模 奇次超模 标量调制不稳定性     

Acousto-optic generation of orbital angular momentum states of light in a tapered optical fiber

We demonstrate an acousto-optic mode converter based on a tapered optical fiber to efficiently generate orbital angular momentum states of light. In our scheme an acoustic wave is deployed to the waist of tapered optical fiber where two degenerate HE₂₁ modes leading to +1 and −1 orbital angular momentum eigen-modes are resonantly excited. The excitation of TM₀₁ and TE₀₁ modes is suppressed by enlarging the intermodal index difference between near-degenerate spatial modes. Numerical calculation for optimization of the taper diameter is provided. The experimental characterization of generated states is performed by analyzing the output far-field pattern and the spatial interference fringes with a uniform reference beam.     

A simple integrated ratiometric wavelength monitor based on a directional coupler

A simple integrated ratiometric wavelength-monitoring device based on a single directional coupler (DC) is proposed and designed. To meet the desired spectral response, a computationally fast method is proposed to optimize the separation distance between two waveguides and the interaction length of the DC based on the local supermodes solution. The wavelength discrimination of the designed structure is demonstrated numerically.
