This paper deals with a diffusive toxin producing phytoplankton‐zooplankton model with maturation delay. By analyzing eigenvalues of the characteristic equation associated with delay parameter, the stability of the positive equilibrium and the existence of Hopf bifurcation are studied. Explicit results are derived for the properties of bifurcating periodic solutions by means of the normal form theory and the center manifold reduction for partial functional differential equations. Numerical simulations not only agree with the theoretical analysis but also exhibit the complex behaviors such as the period‐3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, and 12 solutions, cascade of period‐doubling bifurcation in period‐2, 4, quasi‐periodic solutions, and chaos. The key observation is that time delay may control harmful algae blooms (HABs). Moreover, numerical simulations show that the chaotic states induced by the period‐doubling bifurcation are purely temporal, which is stationary in space and oscillatory in time. We present a Roe‐type weak formulation Riemann solver where the average coefficient matrix is computed numerically. The novelty of this approach is that it is general enough that can be applied to any hyperbolic system while retaining the accuracy of the original Roe solver. We show applications to the compressible Euler equations with general equation of state. An alternative version of the method uses directly the eigenvectors in the averaging process, simplifying the algorithm. We provide a bound on a distance between finitely supported elements and general elements of the unit sphere of . We use this bound to estimate the Wasserstein-2 distance between random variables represented by linear combinations of independent random variables. Our results are expressed in terms of a discrepancy measure related to Nourdin–Peccati’s Malliavin–Stein method. The main application is towards the computation of quantitative rates of convergence to elements of the second Wiener chaos. In particular, we explicit these rates for non-central asymptotic of sequences of quadratic forms and the behavior of the generalized Rosenblatt process at extreme critical exponent. 相似文献

In this paper we obtain a time-uniform propagation estimate for a system of interacting diffusion processes. Using a well defined metric function h , our result guarantees a time-uniform estimate for the convergence of a class of interacting stochastic differential equations towards their mean field limit, under conditions that ensure that the decay associated to the internal dynamics term dominates the interaction and noise terms. Our result should have diverse applications, particularly in neuroscience, and allows for models more elaborate than the one of Wilson and Cowan. This article contributes to the development of methods for shape optimization under uncertainties, associated with the flow conditions, based on intrusive Polynomial Chaos Expansion (iPCE) and continuous adjoint. The iPCE to the Navier–Stokes equations for laminar flows of incompressible fluids is developed to compute statistical moments of the Quantity of Interest which are, then, compared with those obtained through the Monte Carlo method. The optimization is carried out using a continuous adjoint-enabled, gradient-based loop. Two different formulations for the continuous adjoint to the iPCE PDEs are derived, programmed, and verified. Intrusive PCE methods for the computation of the statistical moments require mathematical development, derivation of a new system of governing equations and their numerical solution. The development is presented for a chaos order of two and two uncertain variables and can be used as a guide to those willing to extend this development to a different set of uncertain variables or chaos order. The developed method and software, programmed in OpenFOAM, is applied to two optimization problems pertaining to the flow around isolated airfoils with uncertain farfield conditions. 相似文献

We show that the semiclassical approach to chaotic quantum transport in the presence of time-reversal symmetry can be described by a matrix model. In other words, we construct a matrix integral whose perturbative expansion satisfies the semiclassical diagrammatic rules for the calculation of transport statistics. This article is concerned with the numerical solution of the full dynamical von Kármán plate equations for geometrically nonlinear (large‐amplitude) vibration in the simple case of a rectangular plate under periodic boundary conditions. This system is composed of three equations describing the time evolution of the transverse displacement field, as well as the two longitudinal displacements. Particular emphasis is put on developing a family of numerical schemes which, when losses are absent, are exactly energy conserving. The methodology thus extends previous work on the simple von Kármán system, for which longitudinal inertia effects are neglected, resulting in a set of two equations for the transverse displacement and an Airy stress function. Both the semidiscrete (in time) and fully discrete schemes are developed. From the numerical energy conservation property, it is possible to arrive at sufficient conditions for numerical stability, under strongly nonlinear conditions. Simulation results are presented, illustrating various features of plate vibration at high amplitudes, as well as the numerical energy conservation property, using both simple finite difference as well as Fourier spectral discretizations. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
