A traveling wave solution to the Aw-Rascle traffic flow model that includes the relaxation and diffusion terms is investigated. The model can be approximated by the well-known Kortweg-de Vries (KdV) equation. A numerical simulation is conducted by the first-order accurate Lax-Friedrichs scheme, which is known for its ability to capture the entropy solution to hyperbolic conservation laws. Periodic boundary conditions are applied to simulate a lengthy propagation, where the profile of the derived KdV solution is taken as the initial condition to observe the change of the profile. The simulation shows good agreement between the approximated KdV solution and the numerical solution.  相似文献

The stored energy functional of a homogeneous isotropic elastic body is invariant with respect to translation and rotation of a reference configuration. One can use Noether's Theorem to derive the conservation laws corresponding to these invariant transformations. These conservation laws provide an alternative way of formulating the system of equations governing equilibrium of a homogeneous isotropic body. The resulting system is mathematically identical to the system of equilibrium equations and constitutive relations, generally, of another material. This implies that each solution of the system of equilibrium equations gives rise to another solution, which describes the reciprocal deformation and solves the system of equilibrium equations of another material. In this paper we derive conservation laws and prove the theorem on conjugate solutions for two models of elastic homogeneous isotropic bodies – the model of a simple material and the model of a material with couple stress (Cosserat continuum). For mixed-type systems of conservation laws, rarefaction waves may contain states at the boundary of the elliptic region, where two characteristic speeds coincide, and the Lax family of the wave changes. Such contiguous rarefaction waves form a single fan with a continuous profile. Different pairs of families may appear in such rarefactions, giving rise to novel Riemann solution structures. We study the structure of such rarefaction waves near regular and exceptional points of the elliptic boundary and describe their effect on Riemann solutions.  相似文献

Recently, there appeared in this journal a short review article by Müller ((2002), 14: 227–229), in which it was argued that the internal energy of a reacting mixture of liquid crystals should not be an objective quantity (i.e., a quantity independent of the referential frame). Such a paradoxical conclusion has revealed the urging necessity for a better comprehension of the interactions taking place in structured mixtures, specially when referred to non-inertial observers. This work shows that Müller's paradox is avoided when all inertial effects are carefully accounted for. Further, it predicts interesting phenomena without analogue in reacting mixtures of structureless fluids: internal inertial effects, produced by a combination of mass exchanges (e.g. by chemical reactions or phase changes) with the extra degrees of freedom posed by the microstructure. Such effects clarify the reasons why inertial forces and couples acting on a mixture do not always coincide with the sum of the inertial forces and couples exerted upon its individual constituents. The present conclusions establish a reinterpretation of some fundamental concepts of continuum mechanics and thermodynamics, including a deeper understanding of the manner in which total energy and momenta are conserved in complex media. 从建模原理、波浪在近岸区域传播的众多机制、模型的类别、优势、局限性以及模型在未来的发展趋势等方面,综述了在海岸工程实践中广泛运用的以下两大类海岸波浪场预测模型的最新研究进展:(1)能量平衡模型.它一般用来预测海洋深水波候,已发展到相当完善的阶段,例如,最为著名的WAM3G模型.这种模型在海岸工程中的作用就在于可以模拟施加在波浪上的随时间变化的风场效应.(2)质量、动量守恒模型.它在海岸工程中应用最为普遍,并且内容丰富,数值技巧多样.目前包含了以下代表性的模型:缓坡方程、抛物型方程、非线性浅水方程、高阶Boussinesq型方程、Green-Naghdi理论.   相似文献

In connection with non-Fuchsian equations Poincaré has made an important conclusion: It is impossible to obtain explicit expressions of irregular integrals .To elucidate the essence of Poincaré's problem, we establish correspondence theorem. Irregular integrals are analytic functions of new kind, possessing tree structure; part of which can be represented by conventional recursive series, while its remaining part is expressed by the so-called tree series, not subjecting to any recursive relation at all.In contrast to the numerical solution calculated by infinite determinant of classical theory (Hill-Poincaré-von Koch), our method yields naturally exact analytic solution in explicit form. The method proposed may be used to construct a unifying theory for general equations with variable coefficients, having various kinds of singularities as singular lines.The significance of Poincaré conjecture is discussed, the tree series obtained belong to higher automorphic functions.  相似文献

We summarize the most featured items characterizing the semi-discrete nonlinear Schrödinger system with background-controlled inter-site resonant coupling. The system is shown to be integrable in the Lax sense that make it possible to obtain its soliton solutions in the framework of properly parameterized dressing procedure based on the Darboux transformation. On the other hand the system integrability inspires an infinite hierarchy of local conservation laws some of which were found explicitly in the framework of generalized recursive approach. The system consists of two basic dynamic subsystems and one concomitant subsystem and it permits the Hamiltonian formulation accompanied by the highly nonstandard Poisson structure. The nonzero background level of concomitant fields mediates the appearance of an additional type of inter-site resonant coupling and as a consequence it establishes the triangular-lattice-ribbon spatial arrangement of location sites for the basic field excitations. Adjusting the background parameter we are able to switch over the system dynamics between two essentially different regimes separated by the critical point. The system criticality against the background parameter is manifested both indirectly by the auxiliary linear spectral problem and directly by the nonlinear dynamical equations themselves. The physical implications of system criticality become evident after the rather sophisticated canonization procedure of basic field variables. There are two variants of system standardization equal in their rights. Each variant is realizable in the form of two nonequivalent canonical subsystems. The broken symmetry between canonical subsystems gives rise to the crossover effect in the nature of excited states. Thus in the under-critical region the system support the bright excitations in both subsystems, while in the over-critical region one of subsystems converts into the subsystem of dark excitations.  相似文献

In this paper, a numerical method to capture the shock wave propagation in 1‐dimensional fluid flow problems with 0 numerical dissipation is presented. Instead of using a traditional discrete grid, the new numerical method is built on a range‐discrete grid, which is obtained by a direct subdivision of values around the shock area. The range discrete grid consists of 2 types: continuous points and shock points. Numerical solution is achieved by tracking characteristics and shocks for the movements of continuous and shock points, respectively. Shocks can be generated or eliminated when triggering entropy conditions in a marking step. The method is conservative and total variation diminishing. We apply this new method to several examples, including solving Burgers equation for aerodynamics, Buckley‐Leverett equation for fractional flow in porous media, and the classical traffic flow. The solutions were verified against analytical solutions under simple conditions. Comparisons with several other traditional methods showed that the new method achieves a higher accuracy in capturing the shock while using much less grid number. The new method can serve as a fast tool to assess the shock wave propagation in various flow problems with good accuracy.  相似文献

In this article, we have devised a new reference smoothness indicator for third‐order weighted essentially non‐oscillatory (WENO) scheme to achieve desired order of convergence at critical points. In the context of the weighted essentially non‐oscillatory scheme, reference smoothness indicator is constructed in such a way that it satisfies the sufficient condition on the weights for the third‐order convergence. The goal is to construct a reference smoothness indicator such that the resulted scheme have to achieve the required order of accuracy even if the first two derivatives vanish but not the third derivative. The construction of such reference smoothness indicator is not possible through a linear combination of local smoothness indicators only. We have proposed a reference smoothness indicator to be of the fourth order of accuracy on three‐point stencil that contains the linear combination of the first derivative information of the local and global stencils. The performance enhancement of the WENO scheme through this reference smoothness indicator is verified through the standard numerical experiments. Numerical results indicate that the new scheme provides better results in comparison with the earlier third‐order WENO schemes like WENO‐JS and WENO‐Z.
